  • wiadomo: polski akcent musial byc:D swietnie:D

  • Wow!

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!

  • the best rendition ever !!!

  • i don't urnderstand a single word, but it remainds me of my childhood,as a friend of my father sang for me russian songs. i still love the voice of IVAN REBROFF . this song he had performed give me strength to make my life go on. a cirkle had closed now. i'm so thanfull for his music

  • magnificent, I am jealous about his neigbors in Skopelos.

  • Leaves one speechless!!!! Absolutely brilliant!!!

Mit der Troika in die grosse Stadt!

  • altra interpretazione con la sua meravigliosa voce

  • grandiose

  • GRACIAS IVAN

  • Cheers guys, I'll have a gander!

  • @KjeXXXer

Try the Great Litany from the Orthodox liturgy, available on youtune as "Um den Frieden van oben" or a carol whose titlel I don't know to be found here: youtube.com/watch?v=No2LoCw2fzw :)

  • It was claimed in the description that Rebroff could sing the lowest as well as the highest notes. In this video he doesn't go any lower than an E2 or thereabouts. Can anyone recommend me a recording where he really gets into the deep end?

  • @KjeXXXer You will found your target on "Im tiefen keller" by Ivan Rebroff.

  • @KjeXXXer IN THE RECORD . THE BEST OF IVAN REBROFF VOLUME TWO .

  • @winston678 Cheers!

  • Makes me want to run away, with him... :-)

  • When i ear Ivan Rebroff......

    It's like being in paradise.

A great voice from another world

  • DIE BESTEN LIEDER AUS RUSSLAND - Liliya STARIKOVA!

  • What is interesting about the upper register is that he uses a pure head voice, and not the head/chest mix developed in Russia from Chaliapin to Leonid Kharitonov, who astonished the West in the 1960s. So between Rebroff's bass register (chest voice) and falsetto register (head voice) he must manage a smooth transition - which he does.

  • 2:01 O______________O

  • What a fantastic vocal range!

  • Ivan Rebroff (stage name) was born in Berlin, Germany as Hans-Rolf Rippert and yes he had extraordinary wonderful voice! Great vocal legacy

  • Oh my goodness. Nearly 40 years ago, when I was a kid, I spent a summer at my grandparents' in Germany (I live in Spain). My grandfather would never allow me to touch his records, but I did play them in an ages old deck. Ivan Rebroff was one of my favourites. I explained my father how much I liked the music, and one day he returned from a trip to Germany with two records signed by Rebroff. THAT is a father!!! Unfortunately I don't have the records anymore, but the memories will remain forever.

  • I DON'T UNDERSTAND A WORD ,

BUT IT'S FANTASTIC ,MAGICAL and AMAZING

    GOOGLE JOHAN CAPIAU

  • Rebroff was born in Berlin as Hans-Rolf Rippert.

  • I don't think I've ever heard anyone hit that amazing soaring high at 2:07 then plunge down to that rumbling bass at 2:30 in such quick succession. WOW.

  • One of my favorites, and very difficult to find the lyrics/musical notation. The song is about the chief of a band of bandits, that rape and pillage their way - until the chief gets religion, and devotes to himself to being a monk and helping others. Found the Russian lyrics in hand-written choir book in the library.

  • I love Russian Songs, Russian culture and Russia since I was a little girl.

    And I love Ivan Rebroff....

  • I really doesn´t matter, where he came from.....this discussion is useless...his voice.....UNIQUE

I grew up with his songs, allthough my gradmommy disliked Russian songs...and Russia as well... she had lived in Bunzlau, Silesia, where the Russian front troops invaded....

But even she was impressed by his wonderful voice.

My littlest son, Liam, was so thrilled when I - acidentally - found a song in the internet sung by him...

And now I am looking for the right songs... :-))

  • He was born in Berlin-Spandau as Rolf Rippert and died in Frankfurt am Main.

His father was born in Bad Liebenwerda (Brandenburg/Germany) and his mother was from Bydgoszcz (Poland) (until 1920 Bromberg/Germany). He was not Russian. His voice was great!

  • @TheScherah he had russian ancesoters he said

  • @TheScherah - How was then his Russian so perfect? Russian is not an easy language to learn, especially the pronunciation.

  • @TheScherah @IbisRedibisNunquam Russian People consist of many races (primarily East Slavic), it is a big ethnic group.

Ivan Rebrov loved Russia with all his heart and understood what it's like to have Russia as a Homeland.

Besides, his mother was Slavic, even though it doesn't matter much, because I believe what matters more - is an open soul, certain cultural upbringing and hearing personal deep pull towards certain culture and spirit.

  • I think he was deutsch and not russian. Doesn't matter anyway. The guy is a boss.

  • @ulzeraj Born in Russia, ----- lived ion Germany.

  • jumalaisen hienoa musiikkia

  • @ArthaxtaDaVince777--what ignorance!-behave yourself!- Rebroff was born in Berlin as Hans-Rolf Rippert. He was famous for singing Russian folk songs, but also performed opera, light classics and folk songs from many other countries. He was known on stage for his gusto. He performed over 6,000 concerts in his career, including a two-year seven-day-a-week stint at the French opera, singing, among other greats,

  • @ArthaxtaDaVince777 Fiddler on the Roof. Rebroff still performed 12 shows in 14 days when he was well into his seventies, such as on an Australian tour.

Ivan Rebroff described himself as international, the "connection between East and West". He became a citizen of Greece and lived on the Greek island of Skopelos in the Sporades

greetings everybody, just enjoy his marvelous voice! großartige Stimme!

  • Incredible range.

  • Grandioso..... un estensione vocale, impressionante. BRAVISSIMO !!!!!

  • From wich CD or vinyl is this version? Thanks!

  • He was born in Berlin in 1931. Not Russian. His Russian accent is even slightly flawed. Brilliant none the less.

  • @Gidenkidenk Those are not woman's clothes; that is the way old Russians used to dress, just like ancient romans did - a tunic with a belt. Trousers were introduced into Russia by the Tsar Peter the First, he brought this culture from Germany. The boyars were forced then to shave their beards and wear trousers, if not - they were punished.

  • @outskool100

"After a long illness", his agents said.

  • What an incredible vocal range. The best parts are those deep deep bass notes. Great singing.

  • @johnxxx20000 Yope, it had once! but soviet bastards merely destroyed it together with the Russian folk itself. You can see small fragments today only, alas

  • Once upon a time the twelve robbers lived,

    Was ruling them a Koodiar-chief.

Much blood of the Christians simple had been spilled

Those criminals, they robbed, than they killed.

Lots of wealth the robbers had plundered,

They lived in the forest very dense.

Once Chief Koodiyar went to Kiev-town,

And a beauty-girl he kidnapped for offence.

  • In daytime, when with agirl, he was having fun,

    Koodiar-chief mostly raided at nights,

    Suddenly, our Lord had awakened

Conscience in the fierce soul, Oh Might!

  • He left his criminal comrades, and,

Gave up the raiding, at all.

After went to the monks Chief Koodiyar,

For serving the people and God.

Let us pray to God, the Almighty Lord,

Let's serve him, and so we pray,

But for sake of Koodyar-robber soul's,

    Let's pray Almighty as well.

  • Absolutely astounding!! What a voice, what a performance! Rebroff was incredible!

  • he needs some other lirycs

  • FENOMENO!!

  • You fools, he is a Russian!

  • German, Russian, Jew, Greek - whatever, this man had a gorgeous voice! The resonance, the line, the range, the feeling he had it all. I place this for my male voice students to let them hear a free and resonant male voice. Bravo Rebroff!

  • Great singer and performer!

  • OliverKahnNr1...he had over 3 octaves without the falsetto...from deep contra F to high A...contra F in Im tiefen Keller und high A in Schwarze Augen..for example..and that were the recorded notes..And he spoke german with russian accent...and russian with german accent..so..:)

  • He had a foise of 4 1/2 octaaf he was the craetist ....

  • EXELLENT!!!

  • Bravo

  • marvellous he is the best of the best

  • Gorgeous highs!

Bravo !!!

  • Sorry but I have to correct you birtelfer. I once met Ivan Rebrof and his height can hardly have been more than 6 foot 3 as I practically eyed him and I´m 6 foot 2.

  • @stefanbassi You are right he was a little over 6 feet but he had a range of 4 octaves - wonderful voice

  • Ivan Rebroff was born in Germany of Russian parents. He stood a gigantic 6'7" and weighed in at 300 lbs. His voice was rated at 4 octaves. Possibly the greatest range of any singer: plus he was a consumate showman.

  • @birtelfer That would include falsetto. For an operatic/classical singer, falsetto is a pain in the ass. No one except countertenors use falsetto in repertoire. So stating that his range is four octaves may be true, but he did not have more than 2.5 in his modal voice. One of the greatest German Basso Profondi (yes, he is German; if I'd show you his passport, it would say BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND on it) that ever lived!

  • Jep, but Rebroff is ni German surname.

  • @MyAyWay Hmm. Two facts:

    1) He was born Hans Rolf Rippert, with all three being German names.

    2) He was born in Berlin (GERMANY!) and passed away in Frankfurt am Main (GERMANY!)

Who the hell is officially Russian now? He only thought he had Russian roots - which most of the country and its media put into suspicion; he said his mother was Russian and his father Jewish and Russian. Why would his family carry a German surname if this were true? Rebroff is a cheesy translation of Rippert (Rippe).

  • You forgot a minor but important fact:

Till his end he had a greek passport ;-)

  • @OliverKahnNr1 actually... you're wrong about "not having more than 2.5 octaves... he goes from F1 (in the end of Im Tiefen Keller to A4 in the end of an aria from Ernani (u can find both on youtube) ...and thats non-falsetto

so...his recorded non falsetto range is F1 - A4 which is quite the range for a basso dont u think? ; ) ...oh...and i must add, that A4 is stunning!

  • @vesnatesna The F1 is vocal fry. In the version I have, he breaks into vocal fry between the A1 and G1 (from the F major scale).

Oh, and people, Rebroff was a German - he was born as Hans Rolf Rippert.

  • @OliverKahnNr1 are u sure about it being vocal fry? Sure doesn't sound that way... ;) I'm aware he was German... I'm also aware he is no match in comparison to the great operatic bassos, he might have been, if he stuck to operatic singing in the mid 60's. But he's one fantastic singer nonetheless -> powerful head-voice i must add .

  • Heavenly voice

  • @ellypel47

  • He had a wonderful voice, I love listening to his range.

  • simply beautiful!

  • bravo maestro FROM FRANCE

  • Ivan Rebroff was German and not Russian.

His Brother, Horst Rippert shot down Antoine de Saint Exupery (Le petit Prince) in Juli 44.

    What an Irony...

  • He was the great singer, with amazing voice range, and his nationality was not important. By the way, he was a half Jew. The great artist belongs to all mankind. And why shoud Ivan Rebroff be blamed for his brother's crime?

  • It was not a blame, just a curious coincidence.

  • BRAVO FROM GREECE!!!!!!!!

  • RIP..

  • So well said of Ivan R. ME, SLAVE!

SLAVIC unity! Po be da! V!

  • Bravo dalla Bulgaria

  • Que voz maravilhosa !

  • What a voice!!!! I can't beleive it. What an artist he was...

  • Heaven enjoy every song he sing to them, this is a loss that will no be replaced soon

  • Hi John, thanks for the song! Can I find this on CD? I have two old LPs of Rebroff singing folk songs from Russia, one LP is depicted on this video, the cover of other shows Rebroff and ensemble around a campfire. I'd like to update them to CD but would like to find the same selection and style of songs. Any tips?

  • Great. I have heard him since the sixties when my father got a record of him sining - I think he was in Boris Goudonov - and he sang the Volga boat song...I think.

  • majestueux
