  • you're joking - first there isn't Hung gar masters here - it's just kids, & they fighting against trained shotokans, second your shotokans uses legs & never arms which make this forge battle even more fake!

  • those fency kicks are a waste of energy

  • LAME!!! They all suck.

  • full kontact or gtfo.

  • The Hung Gar guys were severely limited by lack of swinging and elbows

  • talk about limiting the hung gar guys, they are not even allowed to use the wave punch which is pretty basic in hung gar

  • Gooooooooooooooooooooooood those guys suck...

  • Karate guys must have paid the other team to perform. Either that or they were out not matched properly. They should have burned this video...embarassing.

  • the karate guys owned those guys

  • from a wing chun prospective those shoto guys leave themselves upon to wang gurk after they kick

  • SHOTOKAN ALL THE WAY R.I.P FUNAKOSHI

  • When the Shotokan guys go in with those side kicks, the Hung Gar students should have used either Crane Punch or the twisting horse stance part of SanSou. This would have thrown the Shotokan guys around using their own momentum and exposed their ribs , or allowed for a sleeper choke from behind. Simples

  • I think this is not hung gar.. Bacause is very slowly..

  • The best part of this video is the musci...

  • ever try to use black tiger with gloves....

  • Lets take away all the things a hung gar student can do then make them fight a karate guy, with gloves. What a circus.

  • can someone please tell me the name of the song?

  • i'm training hung gar and must say all these rules are like put on handcuff behind his back then try to fight.

another thing is in my experience anyhow we don't spar much and i think it's the same for them because they don't look confident.

  • Governed by rules. Lame.

  • KILLER INSTINCT

  • Wait, isnt it lung gar not hung gar?:S

  • hung gar is a lethal techinique with ripping, and breaking. this is pure competition. Kung fu in general is a very lethal technique and really cant be translated into competition, it just looks crappy

  • palhaço

  • Trash

  • The killer instinct theme adds to the video, that's actually the best part of it..... supreme vitory with this tune

  • They're all too scared to even dedicate a real hit and as to the Hung Gar, I feel sorry for them and their teacher if they think that's Hung Gar. Hung Gar should be knocking these Karate dudes down in a couple punches, not sissying out. I practice Northern Seven Star Preying Mantis so I'm not just hyping up Hung Gar because it's my style or anything.

  • @Collinmrandomnumbers I am with you on this one. I noticed a lot of Kung Fu practitioners have no confidence in what they learn nowadays.

  • Is this just a demonstration video? How come they never get close to each other?

That one Karate practitioner keeps throwing kicks towards the air, like he's expecting someone to walk into them.

  • Wait...that song. What's it from?

  • love the music....

  • 0:56 WTF? This kick is just FAIL! Slow and no hip. I mean who does he wanna hit with that? I'm a Karate practitioner and i don't wanna say i could do better (cuz i can't) but if you aren't confident don't use this technique!

  • los karatecas les patearon el trasero

  • I study both Karate (not shotokan) and choy lee fut kung fu and personally id consider karate the most effective out of the two.

In my opinion the karate shown here was poor and is why they got their arses kicked. the karateka didnt keep their guards up at all the majority of the moves were kicks it seemed more like tae kwon do and there was little/no kata application.

  • having studies Hung - Tigers Paw with Paul Vizzio its my opinion that these men using what they call "Hung Gar" are WAAAAY off the mark. I assure you that a 2 year student of Vizzio would be out there PUMMELING those karate guys with so many kicks and punches that the average onlooker would be shocked. These guys featured are terrible...

  • clowns fighting

  • Karate Foundations can be found in Lohan Kuen of Xiaolin Temple.

  • The rules have no realistic impact to street fighting.

  • @MrBetinLA cus ur not meant 2 fight on d streets but u r taught how to

  • I would feel very embarassed if I had been in either team... wtf??

  • Good control. Great cultural exchange. Friendliness exchange between two arts. I say the karate guys are more experienced as usual. Great that kf guys kept their hands up.

  • lmfao

  • The "fight" between Coyote vs. Roadrunner is better than this!

  • that "swinging wasn't allowed" is bit silly because he could have just punched straight at such an open spot. just tells how unfit they're to fight with the specific ruleset

  • Why Chinese arts always the western and Black, where are the Chinese fighters?

  • Soundtrack also from the Arcade game "Killer Instinct" :P

  • xddddddddddddddddddddd

  • Not been a kung fu kiss arse, but if its karate rules, then they basically had there hands tied. I tried going back to the karate after 2 years of boxing. Almost all of the shots i landed didn't count, and most of his shots counted despite the fact i blocked them. Couldn't work out whether it was the rules that were stupid, or whether the judges didn't want someone who trains different styles winning there competition...

  • lame this is amature fights if these were pros you would be able to jab your hardest to the face these guys are playing paddy cake..fuck that pussy shit ,street fights in Oregon where Chael Sonnen lives is more better.

  • No disrespect meant by my comment here. This sparring seems quite tame, maybe because of too many restrictions. As a kung fu practitioner myself I have to say that the Hung Gar guys seem to either be out of their league or not used to sparring. Again, the restrictions may be part to blame. My advice: Get is tighter kung fu guys, Hung Gar is a great art so apply it! Well done to the karate guys, but frankly I am sure you could step it up a bit too (respect to Shotokan). Keep it up everyone!

  • it's not that bad actually it's just a light spar between two TMA schools, does not justify the action music

  • what is the difference between kung fu, tae kwon do, and karate

  • @zirak7860 well kung fu is chinese tae kwon do is korean and karate idk chinese too maybe japanes and they all have different meenings

  • @darkleone4 THaNK YOU VERY Much

  • @zirak7860 no prob and i am in hapkido another korean martial art

  • @zirak7860 That is a very broad question, but darkleone4 has the basics about right. Kung Fu (or wushu) comes from China. Tae Kwon Do originates in Korea and Karate is from Japan. That is the simple answer.

  • @pistol975 THank you very much too

  • @pistol975 Karate is not from japan

  • @CIENEGALOKO13 Ahh yes, you are correct. If I am not mistaken karate actually originated in kung fu and was first Karate in Okinawa. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong and thanks for keeping me true to fact.

  • @pistol975 Oh its no problem I actually just found out too haha. Peace bro

  • damn none of them can fight they just give away black belts LOL

  • @OwayneKhoo93 All traditional styles absolutely should train Boxing into their styles; I'm Hung Gar practitioner who trains Boxing and it has increased my skill tremendously. I actually got my ass kicked by a shotokan practitioner before I took up Boxing! 6 mo. Later I mopped the floor with him!

  • For all the arguments about traditional and contemporary, I think we should take a close look at the history of Kickboxing. It was created in Japan to compete against Muay Thai and in America to create a forum for full contact fighting. Boxing combined with traditional was used to fight competitively long before MMA and needs to continue to be part of the curriculum in ALL traditional styles!

  • @OWayneKhoo93: I agree 100% with you when you say traditional martial arts needs Boxing to be good. I'm a Hung Gar practitioner and started Boxing about 2 years after I started Hung Gar and my fighting has increased exponentially. Been training Hung Gar since '05 and Boxing since '07 and have no plans of stopping!

  • this is the worst hung ga i ve seen

  • All these moves are totally impractical. It's like these guys watched a bunch of movies and decided to try the moves out.

  • Beyond fostering good relations between clubs, it's all a bit pointless. You invite kung fu, ju-jitsu people etc and then make them fight by YOUR rules.

No grappling, no hook punches, no knees, no elbows, no point.

heaven forbid that you might use a format that exposes the weaknesses of Shotokan and exposes your people to new ideas.

Those deep stances are a gift to a grappler and the low hands would see any competent boxer tear you appart.

  • i do boxe. this is a joke

  • I'm sorry but this is low kung fu, if no swinging techniques then it can't be a southern style (ie hung gar/choy lay fut) Ive been a kung fu man for 16yrs and also train in shotokan/goju, aikido, muay thai & escrima, its the same in my karate competions I'm not allowed to grab kicks and run you off the floor, I also lose points for using wing chun low kicks/blocks against kicks against me, I love my karate, but my kung fu training is my bread & butter when working the doors

  • -_- i have had it with who's fucking best. i don't know how many time's i have said this but IT'S NO THE MARTIAL ART IT'S THE MARTIAL ARTIST!. boxing is good but only works on the arms no legs no take down. the thing you forget martial arts like kung fu and karate were designed to kill not for sport.

  • @kurtisabc I hate it when people say kung fu is designed to kill thats why it loses againts modern fighting. Get the losing kung fu guy to fight a boxer and the boxer will punch the kung fu guys brains out. Btw, I practise traditional fighting combined with modern fighting. But I still hate traditional fighters to post such idiot comments.

  • @OwayneKhoo93 it's not the martial art it's the martial artist if you're fighting some one who's dose karate and also dose judo or jujitsu, you're owned buddy. ps i would love to see who would win a fight you or bruce lee

  • @kurtisabc Of course I know its the martial artist and not the martial art. But its martial artists like you who lose. And Bruce Lee knew traditional fighting sucked, thats why he created Jeet Kune Do. And I beat karate people myself, although I admit I can lose to a judoka. I thik traditional jujitsu sucks at fighting though.

  • @OwayneKhoo93 -_- traditional shotokan karate like i do is the best way to go, are club trains different to alot of other clubs we max are self out in training. and stop thinking boxing can beat traditional, you just have not meet the right fighter yes. and traditional martial arts is in mma

  • @kurtisabc STOP THINKING BOXING CAN BEAT TRADITIONAL???? It is proven damnit!!! And yes, shotokan karate fighters like lyoto machida in MMA train in BOXING. If he uses pure shotokan, he will die! Watch his videos! Does he use hooks? Yes! Uppercuts? Yes! Ignorant fool.

  • @OwayneKhoo93 look just shut up you no nothing of what i train in go back to your littel hole and hide there

  • @kurtisabc @OwayneKhoo93 both of you need to stop being whiny bitches. shotokan was then mma is now. any good martial artist knows that the perfect martial art is the one that evolves to every scenario, end of story. btw, kurtis, LEARN GRAMMAR!!!

  • @kurtisabc Oh I know what you train. I have experience in traditional fighting if you think im an all out MMA extremist. I have a gold in state taekwondo. And you dont have fake taekwondo mcdojangs here in Malaysia. This country is where you get the realest traditional fighting you can. Chin Wu fighting schools started by the father of the martial art. Silat schools in the vilages, some still so traditional they do not accept non malays. Primitive muay thai fights weekly in the vilages.

  • @kurtisabc This place is effing rich in fighting culture. All brought first hand. You are from the UK, where you think your traditional karate is the real stuff. Hah. And I'm even more open minded than you to say that traditional fighting needs western boxing to be good. And whats ironic is that you come from one of the birthplaces of boxing, yet you reject it.

  • whether this is hung gar or not, it's still weak. I'm a kung fu guy through and through and i would rather hve been on the karate side of this one, at least they seemed consistently shitty, and not just a chaotic mess.

  • JUA JUAAAAAA JA TOTAL FAIL !!!!!!!!!!! LOOSER

  • @MusicisMYlife210 I have to agree.

  • @MusicisMYlife210

Agreed, Though i'm gonna have to say neither side effectively utilize the systems properly. People tend to think anyone can learn a style of kungfu and use it effectively in combat. Harshly, that is not true. Since kung fu itself is a complex system, so is karate. Only the simple systems like boxing which have various simple movements can be used easily in adrenaline rushed situation because it doesn't require body toning.

  • @MusicisMYlife210

Muscle memory. Only a handful of kungfu practitioners have toned their bodies to the extent that they can perform the postures and movements within their systems like second nature during combat. Kung Fu isn't a tool that everyone can use effectively. That's why commercializing it is a bad idea.

  • "no foul moves, swinging punches, elbows, knees or grappling. Direct punching and any kicks only!" (vid disciption)............. so not hung gar vs. karate. thats like having two dudes with assault rifles only being allowed to flick rubber bands at each other

  • @KappaKiller108 "Assault rifles" as an analogy for this brand of martial arts is hugely inaccurate. More like guys with rubber bands being forced to just blink at eachother.

  • You get a kung fu master in there vs a karate master without rules the kung fu master would win. Why? Because kung fu is much more rooted, and we train without rules. Needless to say the KF master would n't hesitate to rip his opponent's nuts off , poke him in the eyes, and numerous other "illegal" moves.

  • @jamesbowden55 Theres different parts where karate also uses the fingertips to attack. Im not hating on kung fu because i know karate originated from kung fu. I practice shudokan karate and i have friends who practice kung fu and they are amazing at what they do.

  • @CIENEGALOKO13 the story i keep hearing is of a chinese traveller who introduced it to japanese originally, from this was created several styles, karate being one of them. but these 2 countries share such a long history there's probably been exchange going both ways and for a long time already. also during japanese conquering china there was lots of martial arts skills stolen from chinese kung fu masters into the japanese arts to refine them even better.

  • It almost seems as if they wasted all there years or forever how long they have been training. That shit sucked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe that they need some serious boxing training if they want to be in the slightest successful.Oh yea there instructors should pay them all the money they wasted training with them. With interest.

  • This is not even close to be hung gar.

  • Is 'pushing' allowed here? Or uprooting strikes?

The TKD kicks are slow enough to run forward and just do that and keep pissing them off that way even if grabs aren't allowed.

Take away grabs, uprooting, balance manipulation by any means but a sweep, and I've lost a good chunk of my ability

    -__-

  • this is not a joke... it's just for points it's not full contact;)) we don't want some shotokan kid to kill some kung fu shit

  • black belts?...Are we sure?

  • whats the name of this song

  • what a joke....

  • I wish I could find a place where I can get involved in such contests!

  • cant stand videos were shitty fighters post there videos with cheesy music as if it'll make them look any better lol btw I'm a shitty fighter so i dont bother to post crap videos up and neither should this guy lol

  • good show good fighters

  • cocksuckers

  • O_o really?

  • is this serious !!!

  • @TheMartialartsJedi haha I see, well in that case, well said, i agree

  • @TheMartialartsJedi it is true that gloves may inhibit the uses of certain hand forms like crane, and snake. Dragon, tiger, leopard, and the level fist are still feasible if the gloves allow for finger movement. If this is not the case, kung fu still has more techniques with the level fist than any other martial art. So if a kung fu exponent blames his inneficiency on gloves or rules, it is really just an excuse, and the skills that kung fu patterns require for combat efficiency are not there.

  • @TheMartialartsJedi Most fighters only attack and know very little to defend themswlves. The reason that you don't see hung gar applyed is because they lack self confidence and train to fight.

  • Fuck karate. I like Hung Gar.

  • @DaddyWarbucks452 Agreed. Karate is alright, but Wushu is one of the best systems of martial arts out there. But I think that match was fixed or something bro.

  • @73Mako In a real fight Hung Gar has the advantage.

  • @73Mako its a comp ass

  • DEMONSTRAÇÕES HORRÍVEIS, RIDÍCULAS....VERGONHOSAS. Deus que me livre.

  • hahahahahaaaaa funy...

  • The only Kung Fu that's the remotely useful is Wing Chun! Shotokan is rubbish & their having problems with them.

  • @Weston1968 I wouldn't say that. Machida is a Shotokan practitioner and he's an excellent fighter.

  • ke trimoniiiiiiiii

  • Well, it says no swinging punches on the rules, only punching and kicking, and you already have the gloves on... no wonder why hung gar doesn't show much here.

  • wheres the hungar kung-fu techniques? thats a noskill figth

  • I only watched this to hear the killer instict music.both styles and fighters are too little, sorry

  • @oyama82 the styles could be great , if enforced by a great fighter. (speaking hypotheticaly, never tried these styles and never intend to try ^_^)

  • @psychocookie89 exactly, dont try them if you intend to be a real fighter

  • kick boxing????

  • @TheMartialartsJedi Yup, that's why, as you know.. real gung-fu does not use gloves when playing or sparring, because you lose way too much capabilities of the hand and it becomes little more than fist strikes alone with kicking, stepping, shifting, turning, etc. You can still do a lot..but you also lose a lot of how gung-fu operates with gloves. Also..there will be NO gloves in a real street fight either..and you'll have shoes on too.

  • I wish I could hit the dislike button more then once

  • @TheMartialartsJedi sagas ,,

  • Un insulto al karate ....

  • I feel bad for the hung gar school. That is not a fighting art. However, the I was not impressed by the shotokan fighters either. If a match up like this is to take place there should be less rules so that both arts have the ability to fight to their strengths and full potential.

  • who won???????????????????

  • that was shit

  • Shotokan <3

  • this is more like Taekwando versus some kids... Shotokan is more of a counter style where the thought is that I can put enough energy in one punch to do you in. It's slow and powerful.

  • Dumb asses... No karate, no kung fu! 這是沒有洪拳功夫。這只是平原西部的垃圾......

  • So did any one actually fight or was the whole day filled with wankers jumping around throwing punches in the air and pretending to be Bruce lee?

  • that last grapple would've been bad for the wing chun guy

  • @louidoggify Especially since there's no wing chun in this video.

  • i see savat not hung gar

  • .... lame next time atleast get someone who doesn't discrace kung fu

  • lousyyyyyyyyyyy

  • Hitting "LIKE" button on otomo129's comment.

  • 1. Thumb down for the shitty editing quality of the video.

    3. Thumbs down for a martial arts "jedi" blabbering about hung gar applications.

    5. Thumbs down for all the internet commandos always blabbering on this kind of videos

  • By the way, karate is originated from Chinese Southern Fist (Nanquan/Hung Gar) and Chinese White Crane systems.

  • No Hung Gar application...the most devastating is, Hung Gar practitioner is standing HIGHER (high horse) than Karate practitioners. Their thigh does open as wide as Karate people in their standing. Hung Gar suppose to be intensely trained in Sei Ping Ma, (square/4 flat horse) which allows them to stand very tight and strong (but lower).

  • Karate Nao É Bagunça Nao ....

  • que basura de video por dios me la mama el que suio esta porqueria

  • @TheMartialartsJedi No arcing hand moves were allowed, so no Hung Gar much...

  • This is pathetic

  • So very slow! Is this to prevent injuries?

  • One of the most real fights I've seen. Not the most impressive but the most real.

  • WEAK

  • what a let down.

  • just take them dowsn and chok them out..both shit dancing

  • @Freestyleartclub seems like you had your ass kicked by a karateka at some point, because you dont have anything good to say about it. I thaught I told you to respect other martial artists. if you cant do that then you are not worthy to call yourself a martial artist.

  • @mirageF1AZ hahaha, me and my students always making fun of shotokan... they all monkey

  • @Freestyleartclub Okey, I get you... I am a shotokan student for the past 17 years. And you are most welcome at our dojo so that I or any other instructor can teach you what happens when you make a joke of true karate...

  • @mirageF1AZ hahaha thailand vs japan it was 13 times fights between shotokan and muay thai..97 % fiinish with ko....so funny because shotokan fighters kick but muay thai fighters does not even block it because does not hurt..after training kata and ugly stance kata they do not know how to fight.. you guys just fat ass AGLY PEOPLE WHO TAKES MONEY FROM KIDS AND TELLING THEM THEY DO MARTIAL ARTS..SHITTEST ART EVER.. FUNAKOSHI WAS LOOSER.NEVER HAD ANY FIGHT RECORDS TO SEE CAN HE FIGHT.

  • @Freestyleartclub I dont want to hear all the nonsense you are talking about...You clearly dont know anything, the only way you will convince me is to come to our dojo and show me. IF you can show me that karate is not a real martial art then I will admit it and quit. But if you can't...then my friend the only thing you will be driving from now on is a wheelchair.

  • @mirageF1AZ yes you are with no fight record trying to tell me that come our dojo and show me..where do you leave?give me your adress... i have my fights videos what do you have? how do you know you can fight?come our dojo best shittest thing always pussy karate dancers say..as bas rutten says if shotokan or aikido was fighting art today in k1 in ufc we could see heaps of champions.they are instead of ufc going to karate tournament.pussy point fight..hahah loser

  • @Freestyleartclub Parktown-Johannesburg, South-Africa. Just because I dont put my videos on here doesnt mean I dont have a fight record. How do I know I can fight? Well I never said that I CAN fight, but I have Faught kickboxers, muy thai, goju ryu and so on , I have faught freestylers and streetfighters aswell. Freestyle is propably the most useless. And by the way there is no need to swear at me, it is comonly known that swearing is for the conversational cripple.

  • sucks

  • the boxing gloves give the Karate practioners a natural advantage due to the nature of how they execute their blocks, they dont use too much grabbing moves.

  • I dont see any hung gar, all I see is kick boxing coming from the guys in Yellow, if this is hung gar it is defeintly not authentic, second of all with boxing gloves you can't do any grabs from hung gar anyway, natural disadvantage, if they want to do cross style sparring they need to be fair and use MMA open finger gloves

  • Eesh... I guess blame it on the rule differences, but Karate guys looked a helluva lot better.

  • @njl4515 totally agree with you there, the hung gar people did not show ANY hung gar at all, it just looked like watered down kick boxing.

  • Fuck yeah!! killer instinct theme!

  • That was a very weak showing of what Hung Gar really has to offer. All tentative punches and kicks with no follow-through.

    Retrain please.

  • hmmm, kung fu wasnt meant for the ring. plus, dont strap gloves on and be afraid to take a hit (that goes to both styles). i have a 3rd Dan in Goju Ryu, and ive been training in Muay Thai, and i did Wushu for 7 years. K1 is the way to go.

  • Comment removed

  • booring take it on the street in a respectable matter thats what i do. and besides theres no rules on the streets

  • Killer instinct song!!!....

  • I saw one fairly good Karate blackbelt, the others were.... miiiiip....^^

But to another topic, I think when attending cross-style point fighting, all attacks with a decent amount of force should be allowed. Swingpunches, ok, straight, ok.... You handicap Kung Fu with restricting strikes to Karatestyle punches. But the straight punch will almost always be the fastest way =)

  • @Ruben1994OL I thought the yellow compared to the upper belts was excellent, considering his level!

  • Killer Instinct Theme

  • this is just fucking kicks. tma is going to shit

  • @123UncleRuckus This is not a tma tournament. And this tournament was made with lots of restricting rules like in point fighting. The definition of tma is relative to not only persons, but culture and location. When I often do references, for instance, I use to differ with MODERN martial arts. This mostly goes with the development as a sport and as a business.
