This kinescope footage looks quite good with the tones and contrast, makes it easy to imagine how this footage would of looked live or recorded to 2 inch quad videotape! This is something worth putting through the VidFIRE process!
Guardsmen were on the whole taller then and a lot smarter..i followed my Dad and my uncles into the Irish Guards..Defence cuts and the dropping of the height restrictions...tut..
@charliesacoolkid Hi No Im talking about the Foot Guards on parde this week there were seven Guards If you look at 1992 its Eleven guards who Trooped the Colour
@GaryGib96 As it says in the description, he was seriously ill due to lung cancer (although that wasn't known at the time). He had a lung removed in September 1951 and died of a thrombosis the following February.
That was the first time I have ever seen the Queen salute during the national anthem But, of course she --as princess -- was saluting her father as King. It was his anthem before it was hers. She has been head of state so long it is really strange to see a time when she wasn't.
Wow, so unchanged and yet so different! I remember that HMQ was shown, in colour, saluting in this uniform at the end of every cinema performance as the audience stood to attention for the National Anthem. What a knowledgeable yet concise commentary too! No non stop blather about special salutes and difficulties of the marching surface, just interesting and pertinent facts. Oh for a return to such output again from our dear aunt! As to Her Majesty, doing her duty superbly well then as ever.
Back in the 60s my father had an old record of the Trooping of the Colour - I played it and played it and played it until I knew every discernable command and each Regimental slow and quick march (and a trip to the library gave me the details of each uniform).
I so wanted to serve in the Brigade of Guards - but the late 60s and early 70s got the better of me and being 'clever' I ended up in Law. Wished I had served in the Guards instead.
Thanks for your comment. I'm afraid there isn't anymore of Trooping the Colour, but there is always vintage footage being uploaded virtually every day.

I have just watched the parde today and im sure the parade is getting smaller by the year
there is a lot more Guardsmen on this video than there was today about half I think less than 1000

@nylonTS I suppose smaller parades are a consequence of government cut-backs!

@aptsarchive yes i think your right i thought the same
Thank TS

@nylonTS its smaller also because the royal horse artillery aren't there because of an infection outbreak among the horses

@nylonTS At the moment there is 1100 Guardsmen on Parade, 300 horses and 400 musicians, exactly the same :)

Many thanks for your comments.
I agree with you, it's not the same with the Queen in a carriage!
