@boshaken The twist is not as important as taking balance. If tori is slow then of course you can block. It's also easy to block if you anticipate the technique, but the job of uke is to attack, not anticipate. Sure you can block sometimes, but do it in a way to help tori learn the technique. Ego is an ugly learning tool in any martial-art.
Gee I wonder if the person that has his wrist would just let go and move with him. These demo's are such bs as the quote master has willing students who virtually jump up in the air to be thrown. In addition, don't think that strength doesn't matter when countering a twist because it most definitely does. I had one aikidoka try one on me and he couldn't do it because I was too strong and didn't give in like one of his willing students.
He is basically the same age as Steven Seagal, does anyone know if they trained together in their youth in Japan???? Im sure they know each other.....

thats not a must .... most of the aikido schools have the same grading as in judo yellow,orange,green,blue,brown then black
