omg... ok...so it may not be totally underground... but u must know that this place is seriously the greatest place ever in my mind... when i was little my parents took me here (i'm from VT). still to this day i still get my prosciutto sandwhich from the same place i have since i was 9 (funny i didn't know what it was then but i do now and still eat it). Underground Montreal is tha shit and nothing will ever beat it...
@solemperor technically, she/he is underground at that particular point. Central Station itself is not underground if you go out on De La Gauchetiere. But if you're in the shops, it is underground. The Queen Elizabeth is at ground level and is right above those shops. And if you come out on Mansfield, you have to take an esclator up from the underground to get to the street.
@solemperor But that's considered part of the whole underground city and its connections. Just like the Eaton Centre, most of it is above ground but you can access it from the underground... I know what you mean though.
well it does look more awesome than it is on wikipedia lol. (I didnt even relalise we called it undergound city). I wish they were hotels, appartment and bars underground. that would be awesome o0
Note to unsuspecting tourists: There is no underground city!! It's just a series of interconnected shopping malls. Oh, and most of the malls are at street level, too. How Montreal Tourism ever managed to pull off this shameless deception is beyond me.
@missinformed1969 My friends were talking about this. They were under the impression that there's buildings under ground in caves. So of course, I pictured like 10 story buildings in a huge cave.
An indication that that wasn't the case was that I hadn't ever heard of that before. You will hear of things like that.
@TheYazoo321 This tunnel leads to a train station that is built partly above and under the ground. Under the large space with windows, there is a commuter train station. It's called underground but technically, it's an indoor city with miles of tunnels linking skyscrapers together.
@TheYazoo321 its underground because it gets unbearably cold in the winter. this way shoppers can shop in comfort instead of freezing their asses off and staying home (and of course not spending any money).
@TheYazoo321 Si te das cuenta las ventanas que dan a la estación de trenes están en un área de doble altura, por lo que sales del área de comida a la estación sin cambiar de nivel.
ahh I know this place...lol it is the tunnel that you enter from Ville Marie Plaza to the Via Rail Train Station, you can get the suburban tain to the West Island....anyone know if Felix & Norton still there ?? amazing cookies...LOL
dude its the newton center, there have exposition and a lot of thing, its 5 stage and you can take the bus and the metro (subway) here, i live in Longueuil beside of montreal but i know all about montreal cause i go here for a lot of thing hmmm, sry for my bad english xD
and its magnific so you beter go and chec the place its one of the best place for shjopping in the world its enormous..
@BeaupreProduction, c'est attenant à la gare Windsor, près de l'Hôtel Champlain et du centre Bell (on voit vers la fin la connexion au centre ferroviaire)..
orgonite places like that it will change the place to a better vibe...place orgonite in the pot plants give it to the shop owners gifters get working you know in your hearts that you want too...
