Good to see someone making WofA, GA, and A&WP GP40-2s. I bought one of each, and they require a bit of work to match the prototpye, still, great models!
I still think the Athearn units are a little better, but I am sure later runs of the Atlas units will make them on par.
Yes Atlas!!! That Conrail Locomotive is Sharp! I have an Atlas U30C and I love it, best running locomotive I have. Looks like you guys have done a great job!
Awesome locomotive. I alway loved the quality of Atlas Railroad products. It would be nice if Atlas would make those modern ES4400s and/pr the SD70aces. Cannot wait for the GP40s to show I already have the Santa Fe GP38 and CP beaver GP40!!!!!!!!
IF I may ask, could you guys make a prototype AKR GP40-2? They are supposed to heave headlights mounted infront of the horn (on the roof) and headlights in the nose, as well as ditchlights. Sorry to be a nitpicker, but that has always tipped me off in any Alaska Railroad Geep I have seen..
Thankyou! They also have a Stratolight beacon on the roof as well, I don't care if it comes lighted or not, just as long as a modeler such as me could light it.
Just noticed a huge mistake, the headlights are cab mounted, not in the nose, silly me.. Plus the ones on the roof. The ones on the roof are horizontal rather than the typical vertical.
I got chocked up watching that! It's so beautiful! I've been waiting ever since I was a kid for a GP40-2 and now 20 years later, the GP40-2 of my dreams is coming! I am speechless.
Nice! know where I can find the GTW?

that's a nice layout what plan is it?
NorfolkSouthern9708 3 years ago
It's our test layout. I don't believe it's based on any of our plans, though it's a folded dog bone in design.

I want to see the rear of the Chessie unit to see if the pilot is correct. All the hype about the front pilot, but nothing about the rear pilot.

Very nice, will Atlas make different phases of the GP40-2? I would like to see a Southern Pacific version with the SP light packages.
