It is Maurice Elwin and the Savoy Hotel Orpheans. It is on YouTube, but can't seem to post the link. Rich Conaty, our crooner wonk indeed, got it. WFUV Sunday nights and on the web. Fordham University Radio. And you don't have to be a Jesuit to listen. Music from the 20's and 30's.
May be Val Rosing or Frank Munn...as per Rich Conaty WFUV Sunday nights, but I don't have the ear and hard to compare the different uplaods. I thought Rosing was closer.
The singer is definitely NOT Rudy Vallee, nor is the orchestra Vallee's Connecticut Yankees. The signer doesn't sound like any of the big-name singers of that era. We need a "crooner wonk" to identify this singer. Where are you sir?
When was this one recorded? It's quite different from the other Vallee version of this song. Is that his band on this one, or is it Hollywood session players?
@SraussBogart... Obrigada Alan, essa versão de "As time goes by", eu não conhecia..Essa é a original e depois foi usada no filme "Casablanca"..Muito interessante...Eu amo essa música, então vou sempre querer ter todas as versões que eu puder...My personal collection of As time goes by"

I've only ever heard the Louis Armstrong version. This one's delightful. I love the jaunty delivery!

You can learn so much from music.
The people
The period
The more life changes
The more it is the same.
