Great stuff. Thanks for the info. We had a good dead bolt on our door when it was kicked in & we were robbed. The door frame gave way. Previous homeowner use the 1.5 inch screws that came with the kit. Hubs reinstalled it with 3 or 4 inch long screws that went into the 2x4 instead of just the molding strip. Never knew anything about this until we were robbed. :(
Also your video made me reminded me of an episode of Burn Notice season 1, where Weston bypassed a really strong door. Kinda funny.
Nice video with great information. But I'm curious, with all that security you've put on the front door, how have you secured that sliding glass door?
@SpartanMonkee I have closed circuit cameras installed that record right to a website. Other than the bar at the bottom (that locks into place and can't be jarred loose) I just have the standard locks. lets face it, without bullet-resistant glass, if they want in, they're coming in through a glass door. My doors are alarmed and on constant surveillance. best I can do without riding shotgun. Thanks for commenting = ) ~Wolf
@EquipaPatriot Yes, management allowed it. It is a mere matter of replacing my hardware with what came with the apartment when I moved in. A couple of hours work. I can take my locks and cameras with me when I leave.
@FatDaddy4Fun That's cool of them. How long do you plan on living there? I live in an apartment, but this complex has three businesses within walking distance and the rest of surrounding area is farm land. So, while I always have my guns easily accessible in case someone decides to kick in my door, I doubt anything negative will happen since this complex is far away from the nearest major city.
@EquipaPatriot My friend, I'm a firm believer in the whole picture. And as long as our economy continues to plummet, and the threat of collapse and anarchy loom over us, I'll continue to cut costs for more important investments. I live close to work, and my rent is a mere $350 a month. I earn very little. But I'd rather starve than live off of the government, which I already know would pay me more than I get now. So, as long as rent continues to be low, I'll live there. It's quiet and comfy.
@jnelson0813 It can't hurt. Something else I found out....The presence of a surveillance camera on the home can reduce your chances of a break-in by 80%. Even a $25 fake one. Thats a pretty good investment. I love my new locks, btw. They both were great.
Not with closed circuit surveillance cameras and motion detector alarms, you wouldn't. And if they manage to slip by that, I feel really sorry for the sight their next of kin will have to remember. I don't go to the bathroom without my .40 cal. Glock, and there's a scatter gun always within reach. I'm reallt protecting the criminal, with my security system. Because they DO NOT want to make it past it.
@ToiToiToiHerrKaleun Thanks pal. It's just my front door, but I had a few people wanted to see my knocker and the fingerprint reading door latch, so I went ahead and uploaded it. But thanks for commenting : )

What about the sliding glass doors those are nothing to get into and remove very quick even with a stick wedged into the door track

Well of course you would that if you live in Houston. Crime central.

And did the management of this apartment complex allow you to do these modifications? Do you plan on living here for the rest of your life?
