  • It's amazing to see her without a bee suit. My bees (US) wouldn't be as understanding.

I'm very interested in the hive setup. Are they for sale anywhere in the US? Thank you for a really interesting video.

  • excellent job, someone I could tell the race of bees?

    thanks and greetings

  • Sokat lehet tanulni a bemutatóból.Eddig, ez az egyetlen, alapos, szakszerűen felépített videó.Köszönöm szépen.

    Tamás.

  • @beyorando glad you liked it. I think the rotation method is very elegant and useful: every year new queens, lots of fresh comb and excellent opportunities to fight varroa

  • I'm liking those hive bodies. I've never seen anything like them in the US. Do you know anything about them?

  • @poduck2 They're made of heavy duty polystyrene (EPS); less weight for the beekeeper and good isolation in the winter. Quite durable too, hives can get up to 20 years. You need to get used to working with EPS, because damaging it with hive tools and while handling the hives is quite easy.

As with everything in beekeeping, beekeepers bring up their pros and cons: EPS fumes would harm bees, condensation problems, it's plastic, (too) light weight, (not) repairable, cheap, not DIY.

  • @pxsloot07 I guess everything has pros and cons. Thanks.

  • THANK YOU!!! I ALSO DID A RESEARCH, FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO KNOW THAT YOU CAN MELT THE COMB AND SELL IT AS WAX.

  • WHAT HAPPENS OR WHAT DO THEY DO WITH THE COMBS WHICH ARE REMOVED WITH THE DRONE CELLS. RE-USED?

  • @jannassary you feed it to the chickens. It's considered humane to kill the larvae by putting the comb (in a bag) in the freezer overnight.

No need for re-use; if the bees want to build, they will build.

  • Yes. I really like the way she works. So efficient, she knows the bees and her equipment and knows what to do. Not quite my beekeeping style :-)

  • Is this woman the same who was the young apprentice, Edeltraut, in the Heathland Beekeeping-7 video?
