  • just play it for god sake

  • i'm canadian and i like playing records that everyone has heard already, also i like hugggge cocks in my throat, so far in my throat i can feel them in my belly.

  • Nice! Interesting how their later vinyl releases (Heaven or Las Vegas and later) are more difficult to come by these days and more collectable than their earlier titles. I guess companies were pressing fewer numbers in the '90s. Four Calendar Cafe LP goes for $50-$75. Beautiful record from start to finish.

  • Yes, that song is a real gem.

  • Thanks, man. This is my favorite off four calender cafe. wish I still had records and record player (and a cigarette)!!

I too was introduced to the cocteau twins a long time ago (somewhere around 1987-88) and been a loyal fan ever since.

  • thanks Producer73!Loudness subtles convey so much better when music is played on a turntable :)

  • WOW i have never heard of this band, i was only born in 1986. I love it... : )

    Thanks so much..

Im going to look further into this band and obtain some of their albums. Other bands i like - The Cure and The Smashing Pumkins.

  • Cheers and thank you for the comments.....yeah Cocteau Twins, they've been around since about 81-82...ENJOY they KICK!

  • walking past a HI-FI store in 95 and they had this album shaking the windows... I walked in and stood with the sales guy in the sweet spot. the album ended he said you a fan? I said yeh.... he said this album sells a shitload of hi-fi..... pmsl

  • There's nothing like the sound of Dead Can Dance or the Cocteau Twins. These two bands are extremely exceptional in their works. It is a shame that they had to leave 4AD for Capitol though. Thanks for posting this in its vinyl glory!

  • Thanks for the comment mate.........CHEERS!!!

  • Your right. Four Calander Cafe is one of my favorite Cocteau Twins if not my favorite. You actually have a very rare record. I have to agree with you about Mellon Collie. Nevermind gets old, but MCIS never does for me.

  • I think that tthe Cocteau Twins music was distributed by Capital Records in the USA, but they were still a part of 4AD. Many 4AD bands in the USA were still on that label. For example The Breaders were distibuted by Elektra, His Name is Alive by Warner, Lush by Polygram and so on. CT did leave 4AD for Fontana Records for Four Calendar Cafe and Milk and Kisses. I have a 45 of Frosty that has Capitol Records on it's label.

  • Without a doubt, a hidden Gem!

  • 'One of us'?? How pretentious. Responding to a song in a positive way and wanting to know who created it isn't enough.. A person has to pay attention to the mediocre marketing campaigns of record labels who usually don't even bother with bands like this in order to be 'in'? Well at least you're doing the right thing now lol.

  • This is the album that did it for me too! It was 95, and my friend told me that if I liked Lush, then I'd love Cocteau Twins. I said "whatever", until about a year later when I was perusing the used discs at cheapo Records. I put Four Calendar Cafe in the listener station, put on the headphones and was tearing up within the 1st 30 seconds. This angel and her orchestra floored me like non other. Hooked.

  • Lush is a favorite of mine as well. They fall into the same sound as the Cocteau Twins and Robin Guthrie produced some of their early EPs and Spooky. Cheapo Records? You must be from the Twins Cities in Minnesota.

  • Yep! The St. Paul Cheapo on Snelling, next to Macalaster College. Are you from these parts?

  • I'm from Roseville right down the road. I use to go to that Cheapo all the time. They had some of the best deals on vinyl. I live in Las Vegas right now, but I'm moving back to the Como Lake area in June. I haven't lived in St. Paul or Minneapolis for for 8 years and kind of miss it. I don't miss the cold and snow so I might be back here in Vegas come December. HAHAHA Maybe if I meet the right musicians and start a band I'll stay though. HAHAHA

  • I have never owned a vinyl because in my times were cassettes and cds which were "in" and now with digital music I had no idea of how good quality sound vinyls have.... In this video of yours for example, the bass lines of the song are neatly well heard, tons better than in my iPod :O

  • Cheers Mate.............I'll give you my insight on the industrial world. When something is invented, and it gets perfected...once you hit perfection there is no going any further, everything from that point gets cheaper and poorly constructed.they market it to the ignorant public as (The Shit!!)

    Cheers

  • If you have a good turntable, needle and keep your records free from scratches and clean them there is no comparison. I love my CDs, but when I want the best listening experience I grab my record collection. I have many of the same records producer73 has.

  • Thank you for this. I thought i would not find SUMMERHEAD anywhere in here. It's absolutely sublime. One of my many favorites from this legendary band. Never realized just how many people love Cocteau Twins.

  • Man... do I love the Cocteau's! They are my inspiration when I write music as well as Dead Can Dance. I sure miss vinyl as well! I also started listening to them back in 1988. Liz's vocals are spine chilling. Thanks for the video!

  • God what a voice! closest thing to an angel we have down here I imagin. Thanks for posting this, it's nice ot hear some thing so wonderful on vinyl no less :). Sorry to hear about the accident. Hope you're well and manage to get another camera soon so that we can get some more of your vinyl moments.

  • Dear Mr Heckler. I admire the work that yourself and Mr Koch have carried out over the past 30 years or so and I apologize for

    intruding on your free time.

Would it be at al possible for both of you to observe the person at the start of this video?

Please feel free to test as required, I have sent all of the permission forms to the Frankfurt address..

  • I actually stood there and cried almost sobbing when I saw them in chicago...after treasure it sure was a long long weight for the blue bell knoll... and then this came after...a smooth big sound they make..

  • Thanks for the story and comment:)......I loved this band for years, but I never told anyone who they were when asked. They helped me through some hard tymes. I won't be doing a vinyl moment for awhile due to an car accident which smashed my camera.

    Cheers

  • You're right 4 calandar and mellon collie are 2 of the greatest releases of the 90's. That's all I was listening to in '95 were these 2 CD's and also ned's atomic dustbin brainbloodvolume. Have you ever heard of them?

  • Thanks for the comment. Yes I know Ned's very well.

    THANKS AGAIN FOR THE COMMENT

    CHEERS:)

  • Do more Vinyl Moments, they're GR8! And it looks like you have a lot of vinyl there, I want to know what you have. Thanks again.

  • Thanks its a warm thing to hear........music is my life and vinyl is also my life. Been collecting since I was like 8 years old now at 34 i'm running around 2500-3000 albums. What you see in the background is just albums I listen to more often , the rest are in crates.

  • This guy is really cool.

    Great pick.

  • Hey Mate,

    A BIG THANKS MATE:)

    CHEERS

    and ALL THE BEST

Feel free to drop by any tyme

  • I can't hear this song without the urge to tear up and sing outloud! It's my favorite in the album ~_~

Thank you for this sublime and nessacary presentation.

  • YOU ARE AWESOME! Thanks for the little lesson on Les Cocteaux, and for the perfect track from the perfect album. Here's hoping more people discover the glories of this fantastic sound. Truly my favorite band for over 20 years :)

  • THANKS FOR THE COMMENT. Your Comment was very Warming and meant a great deal, AGAIN THANK YOU and ALL THE BEST. CHEERS!!!:)

  • Yes, it is one of the best of the 90's!

  • Great surpise to see the Four Calendar Cafe in vinyl format. I did not know that until that time (about 1994) there were still vinyl editions of mid-90's records! Thanks a lot for uploading this truly gem from CT.

  • Thanks for the post..............everyone is pressing vinyl , you can find anyone, theres a store I deal with here and you'd be amazed at the bands and artists that have vinyl.

Support Vinyl its Better than Digital

  • Great choice. Not a lot of people can appreciate Cocteau Twins' music nowadays. I'm more into their "early stuff", like from Garlands to Victorialand (the latter being a brilliant masterpiece in my opinion), but all Cocteau Twins' stuff is equally awesome....and yeah, you're so damn right, Smashing Pumpkins "Mellon Collie" is a masterpiece as well. In fact, both the Cocteau Twins and the Pumpkins have influenced me a lot as a musician. Good stuff man.

  • Thanks A Great Deal!!!!:)

Oh yeah I love all their early stuff as well.

They're a band like I said at the beginning of my video here I kept close to me under lock and key for many years, they were and still are a band where I can escape to. I am surprised at myself that I did this they mean a lot to me.

    Again Thanks

    and

    Cheers Mate
