The only Tyler Perry movie I could really say that I was feeling was For Colored Girls (and as we all know he got them from a book). More importantly though, the Madea character doesn't do much to enrich the larger plots in the movies she's in. Not only that, Madea has no character arc. Foxx's Wanda is the central character in 3min skits. Murphy's drag characters are on ancillary to the plots. Be wary of false equivalency arguments.

The problem with youtube is that it almost always turns into an argument. With that said, I'll remind you that since each situation (or each narrative in this case) is unique & the drag-dressed role is its own plot device, we can't argue false equivalencies. Yes, the common denominator is drag, but we gotta ask, "why drag?" & "does it move the stroy along?" The main critique on Madea is that the character has no arc & she doesn't move the plot; she's comic relief to an already dull storyline.

tyler perry, eddie murphy, robin williams, martin lawerence, arsenio hall, the wayans brothers, westley snipes, jamie foxx and patrick swayzee are all gay too? I didnt think so

@QueenKateLOL With the exception of Eddie Murphy & Jamie Foxx, those guys you mentioned dressed in drag once. More importantly though, the Madea character doesn't do much to enrich the larger plots in the movies she's in. Not only that, Madea has no character arc. Foxx's Wanda is the central character in 3min skits. Murphy's drag characters are on ancillary to the plots. Be wary of false equivalency arguments.

@upabittoolate look im not tryying to make it an argument but all im saying is they all dressed as a woman and everybody is saying that men who do that for any reason is gay but they i dont think all of them are gay

The problem with youtube is that it almost always turns into an argument. With that said, I'll remind you that since each situation (or each narrative in this case) is unique & the drag-dressed role is its own plot device, we can't argue false equivalencies. Yes, the common denominator is drag, but we gotta ask, "why drag?" & "does it move the stroy along?" The main critique on Madea is that the character has no arc & she doesn't move the plot; she's comic relief to an already dull storyline.

@QueenKateLOL You're right. People like it. But we don't have to accept it. We have to take him to task. I'm not saying we need to rail against the man. I'm saying we have to demand that he expands his art. The only reason Soulja Boy was able to ruin hip hop is because we let him. I appreciate that Perry is putting Black images on screen & employing Black actors. But as a viewer & a Black person, I think he could do better. Don't you?
