You are exaggerating la Vielle Garde's height minimum a little. It was around 180 cm, about 5 foot 10 English, around 5'7 or 5'8 French feet? The song was a favorite in the entire Grande Armée. Yes the Garde were excellent fighters on the rare chance they were actually allowed by the Emperor to fight but they were thought to hurt the rest of the army often taking best men & officers, though some in the ligne and légère are said to have gotten rid of troublemakers by sending them to the Garde.

Enfin je suis persuadés que le bons sens triomphera et que nous, frères européens, quels que soit notre couleur de peau, notre religion ou autres pensées différentes ( à l'exclusion de tous les extrêmes qu'ils soient politiques ou religieux et que nous devons combattre avec force et résolution!!!) nous ne voudrons pas devenir les esclaves des autres grands blocs,

100 % d'accord ! Mais il va falloir changer les mentalités. Par exemple quand tu vois les Français et les Italiens s'insulter sur youtube à cause du foot. La plupart sont smicards, et ils se déchirent pour des millionnaires en short qui se foutent pas mal d'eux. Les Europeens sont des fois déconcertant !

notre gros problème actuel est d'avoir accepter du moins nos dirigeants qui ne voient que le profit des marchants et pas l'intérêt de notre Europe et de son peuple, des pays de l'Est qui ne respectent pas et n'aiment pas carrément parfois notre Union

Des pays pour qui il y a à peine 20 à 25 ans encore la UE était l'ennemi à abattre quand ils faisait parti du bloc soviétique...

Beaucoup de ces pays nous déçoivent comme la Tchéquie par ex qui président carrément l'Union en ne cessant de la provoquer en même temps et ne respecte pas ces lois fondamentales par ses plus hauts dignitaires comme leur président

C'est pour moi un véritable scandale et une grande honte que de laisser de tels pays et de tels hommes présider notre Union et même en faire partie que je sois clair et catégorique, je n'ai pas à avoir honte de dire cela

il faudra bien un jour si nous voulons évoluer plus vite (ce que nous voulons en très grande majorité) revoir les appartenances de certains pays selon leur attitude vis à vis de l'Union et de ses lois

De toutes façons le premier grand scandale fut pour moi d'accepter dans les années 70 les UK dans l'Union...

About the Imperial Guard (the National Guard before 1804 and the birth of the Empire) :

Its necessary to know that to enter in the Imperial Guard, it was necessary to be a veteran whith made 8 campaigns and to measure at least 1,76 meters height (5.77 foots), which was a very big size for this time

Add the large bearskin of bear and you imagine the imposing and impressive stature of the soldiers of the Imperial Guard ^^ :-)

Also about the Old Guard :

This troop of elite in the elite of the Imperial Guard was not made by very old soldiers contrary to the legend

28 to 40 years was a maximun in the majority and the average was about 30 years

Because these soldiers were named Old soldiers and veterans not for their age old but for their number of campaigns

Thus, one could be 28 years old for example and to be a soldiers of the Old Guard if one added up a great number of campaing
