God Bless Johnny Maestro his voice was spectacular he put on a great show i saw him in 2009 and i was so happy after the show i sent him a note and he asked me ot come backe to the dressing room i took several pictures with i still have them RIP Johnny.
He and Anthonny Giordine had the best voices of the 60's which endurred. for all these years. I never heard anyone covering Johnies songs with the Brookline Bridge, because noone could hit the notes, Johnny had tripple octave range with out using falsetta. Truly a one of a kind. Johhnie you are surely missed. RIP my friend...
@dupreesfan223 I am sorry you never got to see Johnny live, it was absolutely amazing. The only man in the world who could sound better live than on CD, they were that good.
Thank you Johnny for the many years you blessed us all with your one of a kind voice, truly the best voice ever in the business and you kept it all the way to the end! You were a true inspiration to all of us that ever sang Doo Wop professionally or on the street corner! Your pain is over now and you are gone but will never be forgotten! Our loss is Heavens gain because I know they have a vocal group there and they have a hell of a lead singer. Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed!
Remarkable. I saw Johnny with my dad probably about 10 times in my life and I'm almost 16 now... I always enjoyed his music and still do. At one show I remember I shook his hand and asked him to play My Juanita and he did. Johnny is a true legend who will be missed.
Love me some Johnny Maestro. What a great voice. The Crests were the "Bomb" back in the days. Love them. By the way what is the name of their song....something about when I get home or when I come home????. Would like to put it on my IPOD. BTW Mr. Maestro had smooth silk soul. RIP
Damn shame Johnny will never be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. That whole thing is a fraud, the public cannot even call or email them. I'd like to know what Miles Davis a junkie jazz musician is doing in the R&R Hall of Fame and why Johnny isn't.
Thank you ever so much for preserving this very precious moment in Johnny's career. It's so difficult to believe that he produced such a strong rendition of this song and just a short time later he was no longer with us.
Hard for me to watch .Glad blurry my eyes too sniff sniff. It took me a long time just to listen to them again.Like losing a family member.Felt a huge impact from his passing like others.
Johnny's voice only got better with age. Rest in peace and know that we will never forget you. I am still trying to get him in the Hall of Fame. This should have been done when he was with us on earth.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us. As a fan of Johnny's from way back, I will treasure this and replay it often. He had the most magnificent voice and I was lucky enough to meet him.
You have a real Treasure to keep forever... Too me Johnny was the best singer ever, He should have been recognized as one of the great like Elvis.....
We were at this concert as well.... Who Knew this would be his last... That same summer we were playing with his Grand Children at the Westport Italian Festival in CT.. Great Summer night concert with Great Food. I had a chance to converse with Johnny and get his autograph... What a thrill.. He had a golden voice and a wonderful personality.. He will be remembered and missed by all.
Thanks so much for posting this historical document on youtube, oh my god...he sounded fantastic that night, so sad though....saw him nov 2009 in peekskill and felt so sad when he passed away last march but also happy for having seen him at least one time in my life, goosebumps moment when the last note of you´ll never walk alone ends and then the screen turns black, no applause just respect to one of the greatest voices of all time with seconds remaining in silence....
A class guy, and the hits sounded as good or better than they did back in the day.
I'm glad that I was a Top 40 DJ for a few years and got to play his great hits on the numerous "Million Dollar Weekends" my station had. Thanks Johnny!
Johnny Maestro's golden voice and his music was his gift to the world. His final gift to his fans was this--his final performance with The Brooklyn Bridge. His voice remained strong and vibrant to the end. Two months and one week after this concert, the angels took Johnny to Heaven, his home for all eternity. God bless you, Johnny, for sharing your musical talents with us for 53 years.
