Steve chastains book that came out in 2010 tells how to build a DEC approved centrifuge for incredible price the shed around it is concrete and is built to withstand and survive the worst possible spill or fire for the cheapest price.Id like to build and market these. Vmbooks@gmail.com
we have economical crysis and there is not enaf money man..give some more details about the parts you have use! where from did you got them, how much did they cost etc. thanks alot for the idea!!!
@ironlionkalo Nope I did not have any plans. Made it up on the fly. I looked at the simple centrifuge and made a similar design. All of the parts were just laying around. I dont think I really bought anything other then the wood. And that was about 50 bucks. The lathe bowl was turned using lathe tools on the shaft that it is mounted on. I then turned the shaft vertical mounted it with a frame and housing. My next aluminum one is much better. Just need to make my oil shed out back first.
Isnt it difficult to clean the centrifuge? What abt. affection with bacteria and molds after not using the machinery für a vew days? I think the wooden body and rotor are soaked with the veg. oil. Is the wood coated? Thx for the vid. very much.
What is your flow rate? I have a simple centrifuge and I heat my oil to at least 150 ... usually about 180 and I only do 50 gallons per day... that is a little under two cups (1.8) per minute. I only run my oil thru the centrifuge once and I have had great success.
The simple CF spins at 3600 rpm and is an 8" bowl. That equates to about 1200 Gs.
If you are filtering more than that per day... try slowing it down and see what you get.
well done

I like people like you.The difference between an engineer and other people is,an engineer can do for 50 bucks what anyone else has to spend 500 on.

you should consider adding a belt tensioner to take that vibration out. the benefit being it will quite up your rig
to fix the leak get some cheap rubber door seal from the hardware store, the kind that cover corners
looks good

Cool bowl. I'd love to see it out of the box.
