Of course some people, seemingly like yourself, are a fan of Manson because of his persona, but many of us are fans because everything he did had meaning. Lyrics, looks, concepts, it all had meaning, metaphors, ideas, that spun shit around and made you think. That is what seperated him from all other artists, and it is also the thing that has been lost since 2003. He is still great though.

Zim Zum wasn't palm muting, and sucks ass in general as a guitarist, with regard to recreating album sounds. Everything he plays sounds like it was ran through a blender (in a bad way), as if he only knows one style, and misses a lot of small but important details in many songs. No wonder Manson wanted John 5 to redo some of MA, Zim Zum sucks ass.

That was the first concert I ever saw of him. Recorded it when it was live-aired on WDR Rockpalast and watched it many times after. That album helped me through many dark moods back then.

With hype set aside, they are amazing musicians and performers. It's good to see Manson playing. Seems like he'd make a great addition if he played an instrument live more often.

Do I think the quality of his music is any less? Not at all, it's just changed. He plays huge venues as parts of festivals. The last time he was on a headlining tour in 2008 he was playing small clubs. Nobody went to the Mayhem festival to see him, they went for Slayer.
I understand what he does, but he does it in a very demented and wrong way. He's found a way to ride athiesm to the top of the music scene, but now he's a washed up hasbeen. He's no longer in the news. He only sold 49,000 of his latest album on opening week, then it dropped from the charts.
That's in America, because of Columbine (which he definitely wasn't guilty of, btw). In the rest of the world he still sells millions, and I'm gonna see him perform in early December in my hometown in a huge venue. And just because he isn't as popular nowadays, doesn't mean he has lost his talent or his music isn't good. If talent was measured by record sales, Britney Spears would probably be the most talented person on earth...

But I'm saying 1) he isn't as popular as he was and 2) What he's doing isn't something that's never been done before. He's just found a way to ride it to the top of the music industry. So what if he isn't as popular as he was? His peak was around 97/98, after you reach your peak you can only go down. And as a fan, to me what will always matter the most is that he keeps putting out quality music and paintings
Most of his music is focused on the 'sham' of religion and how we are idiots for believing in god. If he was really past trying to end Christianity, he wouldn't continue making music dealing with that said topic.
FYI, Manson has said numerous times that many of his beliefs come from Christianity, and that he believes in the Bible (he says it in his autobiography, for example). And just because he expresses negative opinions on religion, doesn't mean he wants to destroy it. He's said many times that whatever works for you is fine. He just wants people to think and to question themselves.

He plays huge venues as parts of festivals. The last time he was on a headlining tour in 2008 he was playing small clubs. Nobody went to the Mayhem festival to see him, they went for Slayer.
I understand what he does, but he does it in a very demented and wrong way. He's found a way to ride athiesm to the top of the music scene, but now he's a washed up hasbeen. He's no longer in the news. He only sold 49,000 of his latest album on opening week, then it dropped from the charts.

In the rest of the world he still sells millions, and I'm gonna see him perform in early December in my hometown in a huge venue. And just because he isn't as popular nowadays, doesn't mean he has lost his talent or his music isn't good. If talent was measured by record sales, Britney Spears would probably be the most talented person on earth...

So what if he isn't as popular as he was? His peak was around 97/98, after you reach your peak you can only go down. And I never said that what he does hasn't been done before - even he himself has always admitted it - but it doesn't mean he doesn't do it well. And you have to contextualize the whole thing about ending christianity. That was said a long time ago, and at a different time. And as a fan, to me what will always matter the most is that he keeps putting out quality music and paintings

FYI, Manson has said numerous times that many of his beliefs come from Christianity, and that he believes in the Bible (he says it in his autobiography, for example). And just because he expresses negative opinions on religion, doesn't mean he wants to destroy it. He's said many times that whatever works for you is fine. He just wants people to think and to question themselves.

IMHO The point of most of his music is to challenge your mind and the world around you. He doesn't just prance around on the stage...his outfits and makeup are for a specific reason...to set himself apart, and therefore, make you notice. perfectdug, no, people who listened to him for the sole reason that his music was considered deviant and shocking became uninterested after the world stopped considering most of his work "shocking". however, fans who still appreciate the musicianship and lyricism of marilyn manson still support him. he didn't drop off, and as you say become a nobody, his music just evolved; artistic evolution shouldn't be avoided, it should be embraced- without it, artist's work would become boring very quickly.
