  • good one. thanks

  • Hi, when i duplicate the layer and then immediately using the layer to apply the blur step, it doesn't blur and I'm not sure why?

  • this helped me so much! THANK YOU. haha

  • you are soo cute HAHA! enjoyed this vid man!

  • "And as you can see she has quite a bit of freckles which isn't a bad" Sawyer:"It isn't a bad thing kid"

  • hey that's Evangeline Lilly you're experimenting with, I have this picture on my old computer, one of my fave desktop backgrounds

  • My Eraser doesnt do what yours is to the hair? :/ Nothings happening at all?

  • in my opinion, the face just looks fake to me. but thats just me, i just dont like these fake look.

and a small tip, dont erase the parts the background copy you dont want to blur, just use a layer mask so you still keep the information on the layer for later. but still thats just how i work ;)

    keep up the work :)

  • It's always funny to me how the "before pictures" look fine at first, but when compared to the "after" there's such a difference

    also great tutorial!

  • Some of the things you said made me smile... you know as much as many older than you! You could probably get a job already. :P

  • Thank you young man. Keep up the good work.

  • Good job old boy. I'm sure someone else mentioned this (too lazy to read all comments lol) but rather than using the eraser brush you're best off using a layer mask. Same effect but non destructive, so you can "paint" it back in. Using a black brush makes it transparent, white makes it opaque. Shades of grey work in between. Once you get used to masks you'll wonder how you did without them!. Also converting to a smart object for filters is a good idea too. It lets you turn them on/off & edit 'em

  • your videos are grreat!!!♥

  • Excellent job, I'm impressed many adults I've met over the years don't do half as well you do in this video. Thanks for the tips.

  • good vid kid!! keep up the good work .. very helpful!

  • thank you, I've search for a easy tutorial like 4ever :D

  • Thanks for the great video. Is there a way to blur stuff like you were using the eraser? I don't want to blur everything, I just want to use the circle to blur certain things. Thanks again, John

  • this kid is a genius...

  • people aren't thankful even if it's free...

Thanks for the video man, it was wonderful!

  • you are the best little dude !

  • Very awesome. First kid on youtube who's not a complete douche-ass.

  • greatful, but remove your face, its not necessary, thanks

  • On the right, that whole thing that you use, like for layers and contrast and stuff, i x'ed it out a long time ago, how do i get it back?

  • congratulations kid , you just made your first Barbie.....plastic skin and all.

  • @erics1959 Remember though that near the end of the vid he said he personally preferred the natural look. A lot of ad agencies & cosmetics companies though would probably want the smoothed over or soft skin look to advertise their products or for artistic effect, or whatever.

  • wow this is really good i really needed this thnkxx

  • @wondnaereh Hmm. The video has 25 K + views, 4.5 stars, and several comments thanking me for such a helpful video. Now why would I delete this video if its a helpful resource for people?

  • @wondnaereh

Do you really have to pick on him? He knows what he's doing and he took the time to record this video and edit it. And he's not acting like a know-it-all. He's just sharing his knowledge of this and it has helped a lot of people. And look at your comments. They both have -2 and it's just going to keep going down until no one can see the comment anymore. And I'm sure he also appreciates that you took the time to post comments on his video and your supporting him by doing this.

  • you need to learn a lot more when you do this your loosing all the detail in the skin so what you need to do is after you do this is copy the background layer and put that in front of the your blurred layer then then set it to be a clipping mask then put a highpass filter on and set that layer to linear light

  • What OS are you running? It looks like Win7, but this video is dated 2008. Ubuntu?

  • It's mac OSX, aka a mac

  • Apple OS X

  • cool tutorial!! thanks!! ^___^

    -mor vedio- XD

  • Good job kiddo

  • u gotta learn hot key kid

they make life sooo much easier and faster

    but gud tutorial anyway

  • The reason was because when I made this video I wanted to make it as simple as possible and as easy to follow! Thanks for the comment!

  • I have a problem with the erasor too...

  • how do i make it just erase the effect?

    (and thansk!:P)

  • When I use the erasor tool it doesnt just get rid of the blur, it actually erases stuff. hmmm?? what is this?

  • he did the whole stuff in a second layer, and below that he had the original picture. so when he erased the eyes, eyebrows, etc., the one below it appeared (the original one)

  • @MissMystification

It is because it is still on the brightness/contrast layer.

You have to click on your "original" edit layer to be able to erase the lips, eyes, etc.

  • nice job! I think what you did to the lips made it stand out a little too much but good! Will this work with like, acne skin?

  • hahaha aaaaaaaawh hes so little!!

  • Thanks for the video. I linked to it in a blog post called "Skin Smoothing in Photoshop" on my blog:

    Metavo Photo

  • Use a layer mask instead of the eraser...

  • I need your assistance! Lol. It wont let me use any tools on my photos. Wtf? Its showing up as a hand no matter what I click on! D:
