  • so how much hentai was on it? lol

  • looks like a macintosh classic

  • Damn...considering the time this bad mother came to the market, it would have looked like wizardry would it ever have found its way to western markets...very impressive! So sad that apart from their supercomputers the Fujitsu of today is just another beige-box vemdor

  • The golden age of the Japanese computers. I love this machines so much!

  • How did I miss this video? I've been watching Luke for years...

  • You really need to find a copy of LucasArts' Loom for the FM-TOWNS.

  • Amazing! It even has a CD DRIVE!!

  • Hey look! The Macintosh done right!!!! Color Screen, CD-ROM Drive, Dual Floppies, Upgradable Ram. Apple was always falling behind LOL.

  • dont show that the muslim...they may explode.

  • Japanese computers from this era look so awesome, they all look like props from a cyberpunk anime or something

  • that bad boy was 32 bit, and the best I've seen up to playstation/saturn. Why didnt thhey import this? Bet it was big bucks back then.

  • Comment removed

  • its not kickass

nah jk, it has pretty good graphics and animation,

never actually heard of this system before

  • Ehh, i still like my SNES and PS3.

  • looks like a macintosh

  • That's way better than the Apple Mac Plus I use to have but, I got that for $5 in the box lol

  • you are the luckiest bastard ever i've been looking for one for years and damn all the stuff you got with it makes me jealous

  • I bought one just like it from ebay.. anybody want to buy it?

  • I used to have a UG model, its just a pity the decent games are so damn expensive.

  • is good thing this comp use cd and dont use 5.25 floppy drives like sharps x68000 its a nightmare

  • A 386 cpu and 10 MB ram in 1989 was probably unheard of - I remember paying $80.00 for 8 MB for my 486 packard bell pc but that was in 1996.

The After Burner demo makes the system seem like it would be very comparable to a Neo Geo.

  • Did you say the shop where you got this was called Hard-on? Because that would be an appropriate name.

  • Amazing machine!

  • Holy Shit!

Yeah, I'm officially jealous now. :-/

  • I want one of these so badly the only old computer i have is a atari 800 with pac man frogger still in shrink wrap and q bert still in shrick wrap!

  • dude get super street fighter 2 for that thing

  • This computer has great Arcade ports. A shame it never made it over to Europe. :-(

  • nice, I bought two martys at superpotato in osaka. shame the drives crap out so quickly.

  • wow the graphics is amazing wow i did not see that coming

  • looks like a mac

  • Where does he get those wonderful toys

  • ive seen like all your hard off videos and this. and ill tell u this now IM PROBABLY THE MOST JELOUS GUY IN THE WOR RIGHT NOW!!! u lucky little sod :)

  • Never seen one of these things. I am use to seeing Amigas and old school Apple II's.

  • wow fuckin awesome, what glorious graphics!

    Blown away!

  • Yeah, it is a pretty amazing machine for sure. I'm sooo glad that I found it. the few games that I do have for it look and sound amazing! thanks for checkin it out.

  • I love this machine 10 MB is great !

Get a Mo oder HD Drive so you can install games and that really improves speed & loading times.

Do NOT use burned CDs, it will damage the drive after a short time period. You can use the system as monitor for x68000 computers as well and if you want you can use the internal rgb out to diplay most games on modern LCD TVs. Personally i connect the UX to my 26" LCD and picture quality is near vga.

Have fun with it ! ^___^

  • Hey Luke, do you think you can show off the operating system and software of this sexy beast?

  • Aww man, I've kinda got it burried right now. I've been trying to find places for stuff but running out of space lol. maybe down the road I can but it's pretty rough right now.

  • Sounds alot better than the megadrive.

  • Wicked buy and find!! So rare now days to find one and in that good condition too, you bust have felt like you hit the jackpot, I know I would :)

  • ....Instant hard on when I saw this one :O

  • did it fufill your hard on?

  • Very interesting

  • awesome find! :D

  • Gmail notification at 0:26?

  • Lol, Hotmail :F

  • That an amazing system. Does it have a hard drive, or must you load everything from disks? This thing is far above any IBM compatible PC for the time. Is is MS-DOS compatible? perhaps the keyboard and mouse will work on your FM towns Marty. Is the operating system stored in ROM as was the case with a lot of computers back then?

  • Thanks man! No HD but reads all the system info from ROM disks. I've got all different system disks for it and Yeah, I think I'll use one of the mice for the marty XD.

  • just....WOW

  • lol

  • It amazes me how you always get these rare gaming stuff. Thats it I am going learn Japanese.

  • Dude, I tell ya, I really never intentionally go looking for really retro stuff cause I always come back empty handed. what I do do instead is go out with no expectations of finding anything special and if I don't than oh well, nothing lost but sometimes I get surprises like this that make my week XD

  • I need to do that next time I go garage sailing...

  • Yes Indeed!

  • :O It's like a black Macinstosh 128k!

  • .....only gray lol

  • Wow, never heard of 'FM Towns' before. Looks very interesting. Congrats on getting such a good price for it, and I look forward to seeing more videos on it. =)

  • Yeah, if you have time, you should check it out on the net. I think you'd be pretty impressed

  • Wow, for 1989 that looks pretty good. Especially for a PC type console.

  • Right!

  • Man, I've never seen the FM Towns version of After Burner(though the music is IDENTICAL to the music in the Mega CD version of After Burner III). Mind actually playing it(preferably on the FM Towns Marty if possible)?

  • Well, I put up a vid of After Burner III for the FM Towns Marty, for this one, maybe I'll put up After Burner.

  • sounds effects are good

  • This is the Japanese Amiga on Crack btw

  • LoL, Never thought of it that way before lol

  • the amiga had almost prebuild attactments, kinda like the Fm, i would kill to have a Amiga, both amazing systems.

  • I'm sure that if you ask one of these guys from the UK, they might be able to get you one at a reasonable price ;D BTW, Awesome job on having 3 of the Genesis 2's working. You're starting to look like me now lol ;F

  • lol i kept getting genesis consoles in stacks before and it got crazy x,x

  • i am jesus!

  • very lucky man, i wouldn't even sell that

  • That unit looks like it was very well looked after, nice find!

  • Cool I didn't know they had an 80386 in them. I thought they were more like a video game console I didn't realize it was basically a PC. Is there a Hard Drive in it? They would have made a killer gaming machine at the time but if its basically a PC with a 386 chip they must have been crazy expensive!

  • No, this doesn't have a HD in is but it is an impressive machine for it's time for sure. Just an amazing peice of equipment but I still think that the Multi-use monitor for the Commodore 64 that you showed in your vids is pretty amazing as well. I think that the older machines like these were ahead of there time back in the day.

  • Conglaturation!

To think that around that time, boffins were knocking one off over their Acorn Archimedes` with their Virus`, whereas kids in Japan had this. The mind boggles.

A worthy addition to your hardware collection. You really now need a Capcom CPS Changer though mate...

    Played.

  • LoL, That would be pretty cool but more than that, what I need now is,well.,a new place cause I don't know where I'm going to fit all this stuff I keep gettin and especially if it continues to be this size I'm going to be in some trouble.. When I go out and find stuff like this, the little light that should come on and say "Luke, you have no space for this stuff" just doesn't come on. I don't know what it is but although I like fixing stuff, I just don't want to fix that switch ;D. Regrets after

  • Hey Luke, if you're after any games, I've got a couple of copies of Chase HQ, New Zealand Story and Splatterhouse lying around for the FM Towns if you want them.

I think I got Monkey Island somewhere as well.

  • Heck Yeah!! I'd love to get those off ya. Just tell me what it would cost and that would be awesome XD

  • Oh nothing dude, I can upload them and all you need to do is burn them to a CD.

    No copy protection.

  • Is the laser on the machine strong enough to read CD-Rs ?

  • Yup, i've done it myself.

If you burn CD-R's at the slowest possible speed, that REALLY improves players reading them.

And you can also increase the intensity of readers too if all else fails, there's a tine screw next to the lens that you nudge clockwise ever so slightly..

  • Yup, I know about boosting the laser power, but I wouldn't do that to such a rare and valuable machine :-P

  • wow that afterburner is the same one as the sega cd version, thats crazy

  • Really!? didn't know that. Thanks bro!

  • Wow! Real rare find Luke.. Bloody good price too! I'm sure you feel damn good owning a rare gem...

    ;)

  • Thank you sir, I DO feel good finding this one. I'll put up some vids of the games I have for it soon :P

  • That is indeed a cool piece of hardware! Watching videos like this makes me miss those days when computers didn't have glitchy operating-systems and a huge-ass desktop filling the whole screen along with a truckload of icons!

Nice purchase and nice video! Keep your great stuff comming :P

  • Thanks a lot man. That's soo true. Now a days it's like everything you want to check out or download wants to put an icon on your desktop for a shortcut and you're like 'WTF!? another Icon"?! lol, thanks for the comments though, really appreciate it.

  • very nice and retro,if you get a x6800 and some games like street fighter 2 or fatal fury you will be my god lol

  • Thanks a lot man. I think the likelyhood of me finding one of those would be like me finding another one of these in this condition ;F....but stranger things have happend ;D

  • first comment also great to see the cool videos luke :D

  • Thanks a lot man lol :D
