Those are great animations for your kids. I'm 17 and I wouldn't have the foggiest in how to go about that. Excellent stuff!

We recorded the voices using our regular old DV video camera and used Firewire to get that into Sony Vegas.
The kids drew the goat, and we cut out the part using Photoshop.
Finally we used After Effects to make pivot points on the parts, and imported the voices, and rotated the parts to match the voice.
