Whatever this guy is trying to tell them they just ain't getting it ! Anyway - the term "hips" so misused...the correct word is pelvis and it should always be facing the direction you are travelling NOT twisted and contorted. To set yr edges to carve it should be a lateral movement of the pelvis across the skis followed by flexing the knees slightly inwards towards the inside of the turn if you need the extra edge angle/tilt.
and remember to keep your hind end out at least 18 inches, thats the most important part
