  • this makes me feel good not depressed

  • Pretty sure this audio is recorded at the old Pioneer Square Theater in Seattle. Silk Worm and A Minor Forest were also on the bill that night. I remember actually being scared of Burning Witch.....but then again, I was on mushrooms.

  • @davidiannacito Rad story, must've been pretty intense ha.

  • @davidiannacito Heaviest music on earth with mushrooms... damn, bad combination. Must've been the most insane experience.

  • @davidiannacito shrooms are great!

  • @davidiannacito That was the Velvet Elvis. I remember seeing A Minor Forest at a separate show there... the drummer Andee currently works at Aquarius Records in SF. This show could also be from the China Club in Ballard the same year, I did however see the date listed on a bootleg list as being from Moe's.

  • Anyone check out The Poisoned Glass? Edgy's new group?

  • @alicemudgarden123

Yeah, they have a myspace with one track which sounds promising. But I can't locate any more material than that. Let's just both thank fuck it's not another nu-metal band destined for Fred Durst's label !!!!

  • @TheEsoteric0rder Yeah from what I've heard he was in "Birds Eye" & "The Poisoned Glass" but nothing other than 1 song on a compilation has been released. different comps for both bands

  • drone doom is amazing, some generic doom just sounds like typical metal but slower to me. this sound is something entirely different

  • Burning Witch IS Doom! The epitome of the genre.

  • Just Hail again! I just saw them wearing DarkThrone / Isengard shirts with the right pose... Power of true Black grimmnes and Twisted Darkness combined..!! And also Hail to mighty Autopsy (RIP). Greetings from the Netherlands..

  • "1996"

    Wow...

  • Straight up good shit, CAnt Fuck with it

  • Winter is dark and gloomy as hell could ever be

  • No way do Sleep surpass Burning Witch in terms of desolation. That's just not the case. 2 great bands, however, Burning Witch are very cold, empty and sparse in their sound...Sleep have a more warm, stonery kind of chanting / drawl sound.

  • Can any band hang with SLEEPS Jerusalem...as far as desolate,slow,heavy...this comes close...Jerusalem was 58 min...It was 5 min before the guitar changes his one note riff and 25 to 30 min until vocals showed up...what a statement!

  • It wasn't a statement at all

it was an organic journey into another Universe

  • Dopesmoker is better.

  • Than Jerusalem, I mean.

  • I can name a SHITLOAD of bands that do desolate, slow, and heavy better than Sleep did. Grief, Winter, Noothgrush, Asunder, Warhorse, Sunn, and Khanate just to name a few....

  • sleep isnt desolate or really slow in particular. its more warm instead of bleak, has a certain groove to it, more effects. similar to the wizard. anyway, sleep is different from grief, winter, you name it.

  • Thank you. Especially Grief, Winter, Khanate, and the mighty Esoteric for me.

  • @redshaftedflicker

Awesome taste man ! Esoteric blows my mind, the pernicous enigma is perfection

  • Saying that Sleep surpasses Burning Witch in the desolation department is total folly. Sleep is a cool band to listen to when you wanna get high, Burning Witch is a cool band to listen to when you wanna murder somebody....

  • Burning Witch is the auditorial experiance of having your skull collapse by Pressure when you release your helmet in the drakest, coldest reaches of space...

  • uhh... vocals came to light around the 9 min mark rather than 25.

  • @PaulP1972

Sleep is not even in the same comos as the witch.

  • The download card that came with the Burning Witch re-issue features artwork from 1980's NYHC band, The Icemen. This only ads to

the mystique of this band. Their 1st 12" is THE record to put on at 2AM when you want the party to leave. Thank you for posting this material.

  • Yeah, that Southern Lord reissue is a beautiful. It's packaging like this that will save the rock record industry. Southern Lord is leading the charge.

  • I hope SL is going to release it on vinyl soon...

  • amazing recording. thanks much for uploading.

  • vERY GOOD!

  • wow...and i thought electric wizard was low...

  • ANTIVENOM TO ALL THAT IS POP

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting this!!!

  • Cool sounds, come to Manilla and burn with us

  • they sound like a Sabbath,Trouble and Saint Vitus cocktail played on 78 speed.

  • Burning Witch is Doom metal not Heavy Metal. But these guys still kick ass.

  • Are you not familiar with the video description area located in the upper right hand corner? Perhaps if you had read that you would not have been disappointed.

  • surprised its taken so long for any witch to show up on utube so nice one. more to follow on here im sure.

  • Burning Witch is basically what would've happened if Sabbath were on PCP.

  • I always loved burning witch

  • --**heavy music with

    intelligently executed

    (dank) vocals**--

  • bad ass

  • Burning witch rules! shame there aren't more vids.

  • His scream at 7:52 is so awesome

  • Slowly, but surely, I think I'm cottoning to the dronier, sludgier side of all things DOOM, such as this (just have to get used to the Cirithy vocals). I think Revelation is the slowest I've heard on the other side/earlier styling of doom, so perhaps they're a good introductory entryway to guitar string loosening.

  • I suppose the vocals are probably the biggest hurtle most people have to overcome when taking this band in for the first time. I personally think that they are one of the key factors in what makes this band completely unique and couldn't imagine them not being there.

  • brilliant stuff

  • yeyaahh

  • FUCK...MORE...no make that LESS. MAKE IT NEGATIVE

  • What's up Tom!

  • proud to be from seattle...we have the best slow bands ever.

  • Ya, what's the deal with the Pacific Northwest? It's like the mecca of doom in the states these days.

  • Psh! Best bands PERIOD.

  • Thank you! No doubt one of the best doom bands.

  • amazing band. nice video as well.

  • awsomeness incarnate

  • I'd love to actually see a video, really really badly!

  • thanks

    they're so heavy!

    they was a great band

  • Yup...Just wish I could find some actual live video of them performing. I've heard that a couple of their shows were taped but I have yet to find anything.

  • awesome man thanks

  • THANK YOU.

  • My pleasure!
