if you have not watched her in Breezy you haven't seen the best of her imho. she done well i tell ya. Holden was no exception either. a great flick that i watched last night. watch it you will be pleasantly surprised.
I was pre teen in the mid 70's, Kay,Glynnis O'connor,Lindsay Wagner,of course Maureen Mcormick,The (younger) brunette on Fish , gave me a warm feeling in my pants ; )
William Holden went out on the limb to take this role. He's been paired with a lot of established stars—Grace Kelly, Kim Novak, Audrey Hepburn to name a few. But to portray a 55 year old man with an 18 year old was risky. But he was always a risk taker. Remember it was 1973. He brought all his talents to this movie and did a great job.
She is truly a nice genuine person and totally destroyed my negative opinion of actors. Unfortunately later I did some FX work on several movies only to have my original opinion reinstated. Obviously Kay is an exception. I was just thinking about her when I did a search on her name to find this site.
I was traveling through LAX once several years ago and met Kay. I spoke to her only to confirm that she was who I thought she was. Once confirmed I thanked her and said I didnt want to annoy her so I went back to my seat. I opened up my computer to do some work and she came over and sat next to me for almost an hour and we chatted about a range of subjects. She is a very interesting woman. Apparently she likes to cook go figure.
She will always be Jeri Hummer in my heart "White Line Fever" it stared Kay Lenz & Jan Michael Vincent there's some clips of it on here the movie was made in '75 & relased back in '75
Yesterday I saw an episode of "Gunsmoke" with Kay Lenz - "The Foundling" from 1974. Kay had a good part with lines with James Arness. Kay was in many TV shows of the 70s including Ironsides, Cannon, McCloud and Streets of San Francisco. She got typecast as a teenager. Even in the movie "The Passage" with Anthony Quinn and James Mason she played a teenager when she was actually 25. In the 80s she broke that image - just watch Fast Walking, Stripped to Kill or Infatuation.
I saw Breezy in 73 and had a crush on Kay ever since. She is a fine dramatic actress and won Emmys in 73 and 89. She was also good in "Fast Walking" and "Gunfighters Moon" I saw her this week on Law&Order SVU "Guilt" she owned the episode. She was last in the season opener of "House" Being the same age as Kay it is a shock to realize her film career has spanned five decades!
A few years ago, I was flipping channels before going to work at the Countrywide file department, a job I hated, when I came across this movie ... "Breezy" on AMC with Ms. Lenz and Holden. It attracted my "eyes" for some reason. I soon got the dvd within a year, its first release. It seemed to capture the time perfectly (although I was a baby)...the early up to middle 70s in los angeles. You'll "love" the people, housing prices, clothing, cars, and great "love story in general". Get the dvd!
GOSH. That little cutie stole my heart when I first saw her in "Breezy" some 35 years ago. How fortunate the old guy was to have such a loving faithful companion as Breezy. Her warm eyes and that broad smile of hers just makes a guy want to hold her;thats why God created her.Her sweet gentle way just warms your heart as only a true lover can. Guess I should have said all this about her before. Alas old birds do forget.Still love you Ms.Lenz
Kay, this may be one of your distance cousins, my name is Charles Lenz, i'm a key grip in hollywood, this sight of youis weak, you should have it polished up!
Kay lenz did a very important movie for ABC back in the 70's it was called Lisa Bright and Dark it may have even been an ABC after school special..it was really good and had a strong message for kids back then ..wish i could see it again..

Back in the '70's Kay Lenz visited my Uncle Curtis in the VA hospital in Houston. She was visiting with all the patients. She had her picture taken with my uncle and he kept it till he passed away. She's a real sweetie.
Kay Lenz starred in a film directed by Clint Eastwood called "Breezy".Deals with loneliness and love in an untraditional sense the principals are separated by a generation.Good flick ;check it out and enjoy with a friend or lover.
