@gaby80ist That is definately not normal, any martial art class should have stretching. when I took karate we stretched and now In mma class we stretch quite a bit as well
As awesome and as powerful as his kicks are, which they are, for 3/4 of those roundhouses he was kicking with the top of his foot. There are an incredible amount of bones in the human body. That, is how you break a good number of them in one fell swoop. A great collection of drills and stretches though! Good resource.
@Rastgoy Lol, what? If that's true, you didn't learn real Jeet Kune Do passed down by SiGung Bruce Lee through Tuhon Dan Inosanto. Jeet Kune Do doesn't use a belt system, it's a Chinese martial art, there are only levels.
for those of you who know nothing about karate or tae kwon do. this guy knows exactly what he is doing. this is coming from a black belt karate instructor
I've got a question, I can't keep my leg up for too long only for like 2-3 seconds because my butt and the side of the leg hurts I don't know why.. =/ Any suggestions? I also learn Wushu for like a month now and I really need to improve my kicks but I can't keep it in the air.
@denisbarinovx if it's a problem that is only recently occuring, it is probably due to the extra stress on the muscles. Your muscles are telling you that they are tired and need to rest. Take a day or 2 off to allow the muscles to heal. You may also lightly stretch the muscles to help them relax and heal faster. RICE is also very effective for tired and sore muscles (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) Good Luck.
@LudlowPK Thanks alot for replying =] I think the problem is that I'm still not flexible enough, because when I keep my leg in kick position against the wall then it doesn't hurt even if I push it even higher but I can't keep it in the air =/
@denisbarinovx if your talking about raising your leg and resting it against the wall, keep in mind that when you do that, all of the weight of your leg is now on the wall, rather than relying on the strength of your muscles to hold it up. This type of strain im talking about often happens in beginners when they are told to do a kick say 50 times or 100 times. What happens is their muscles aren't used to this type of stress, and are therefore fatigued the next few days.
@denisbarinovx yep, no problem. The best thing to strengthen your muscles for specific activities is to add repetition. if you want to be able to do certain kicks with better form or for longer instances, you just have to keep practicing them (50 kicks each leg every day is a good start, just make sure you work on quality more than quantity, as soon as you start to compromise your form, slow down or stop. It's not a race or a set number, just a place to start, adjust the number as needed)
@denisbarinovx also remember that by working out the muscles, you are creating microscopic tears in the muscles. When you cut your skin, you have to give it time to heal up. Your muscles are the same way, you need to give them enough time to rest and heal up, this will make them stronger each time. If you need any more help, feel free to ask.
@adamS8ter Simple training suggestion, kick through, not at. Like, say you're target is the leg, and you come at it from the outside, then the target you want is the space on the inside of the leg. Using this mentality you can "Kick through" the leg because you aren't aiming for the leg, you're aiming for the space, the leg is just in the way. It's something my master taught me when I took his real world tae kwon do training courses.
Very impressive
