Often, people say, "It is about relationship, not religion". Not so fast! It is about both. The Bible speaks of "pure religion" (James 1:27) which infers religion can be impure, just as there are "true worshippers" (John 4:23) inferring worship can be untrue or vain (Mt. 15:9). Christ is Savior of the obedient (Hebrews 5:9). If we love Jesus, we'll keep His commandments (John 14:15). Relationship and Obedience = Pure Religion and True Worship. Otherwise, one has not God (2 John 1:9).
This was a great message since I have heard people preach works salvation, and I didn't come to realize the aspect of faith until later in my life since I was taught a legalistic version of the gospel, and it did not change my life, but when I realized the importance of faith then I saw everything more clearly than before.
@bassmmbn3 "works salvation", must you have faith? Faith is a work (John 6:29). If you have faith, you have works. What must be distinguished are the works of mankind which profit nothing versus works of God. What is water baptism, a work of man? According to Colossians 2:12, it is the "working of God". Many today believe they can do less than what God commands and be saved. In Luke 20:4, regarding John's baptism, Jesus asked, "is it from heaven or from men?" Of course, it was from heaven.
