My phone was rooted by your method and was working fine. Just stopped working today it keeps rebooting, gets to the Lg logo then to my service provider screen which is TracFone, then it will not start up and automatically keeps re-booting! please help!
@24lunaticasylum did you back up and factory reset your phone before atempt to root? I have found task killers will cause hang. also is it in USB debugging?
@mstechify i have an LG optimus slider. yes debugging is on. you have to factory reset before trying to root??? because i did not do that. and what do you mean by "cause hang"??
@24lunaticasylum yes it is instructed to do factory reset prior. there are so many different things that can cause proplems that I don't have time to touble shoot which and what with people. Main issues I have had is task killers stopping and causing the root to hang... as well as your own computer and firewall, antivirus and so on. hang means it says it is working but does not complete, hangs
@mstechify I just downloaded the OneclickRoot to use on my LG Optimus Q and when i downloaded my anitvirus said that Zergrush was a trogan and it deleted it. Is zergush necessary for the rooting or is it really just a virus.
@mstechify I didn't see this on the vid but do we have to put the LG Esteem Root folder in the phone when we press the run program or does it work will just laying on the computer desktop. Just asked because it didn't work for me when i ran it while it was still on the desktop. Sorry for the noob question just wanted to make sure i don't fuck up and destroy my phone.
@mstechify Thank you thats where i went wrong. I tried running it from the zipped folder. And tired to extract the files to my desktop but only Superuser.apk wouldn't copy over too. It said there was an error.
@mstechify oh you also said anti virus detecting right. you may have to turn off anti virus software durring process. it might be blocking the files from unzipping and working
@mstechify the reason it didn't work before is because my first download of it was corrupted so i downloaded the LG Esteem root again and it extracted just fine that time. And i found out that zurgrush is actually necessary. My anitvirus kept deleting it so i turned it off for 10 minutes restored the zurgrush to the folder and started the run program and it worked just fine. Without the zurgrush it wouldn't work. The root worked perfectly thxs for the help.
@24lunaticasylum youtube redirects some of the links if viewing mobile device will message you a copy of everything posted under the video. copy and paste it in.
The link you provided for the LG driver support doesn't seem to be working, and I can't find the page at all for the drivers, even if I search the web.
@mstechify I am getting the optimus slider next week, and this will be my first smart phone ever. I don't know anything about hacking the android, so I'm not sure if I'm going to mess with this (maybe if I have free time). If I only use the phone for light internet browsing, texting, and download a couple of apps, will rooting be worth it?
@lilcrazyaznboy only if you plan on using apps that require rooting. like screen shots or ad blocking apps. don't root out of peer pressure. but it is nice to be able to freeze apps or change permissions on apps. When you get your phone hold off on the rooting till you are sure or at least the 30 day return. since first smartphone get to know it first.
My antivirus reports the LG Esteem root.zip file as a trojan...not sure if that is just because of the nature of the kind of file it is, or if I got a bad file (not sure I am downloading from the same site mentioned in the video, as I can't see what it is, so I did a search).
@fluffysue yes that is common for an anti virus to detect it that way because this file runs an exploit to get the root. it's not a trojan. you can see were a few other in the comments ran into that. depends on the virus program.
@mstechify When you underclock the cpu from 800mah to 480mah, did you noticed a difference in performance? I'm sure it will double the battery life, but I'm all about speed. There's extended battery on ebay, but I already bought cover for the slider, and I don't like the idea of putting it on and off.
I just bought one of these and it's currently on it's way. It's gonna be my first android (well any smartphone really) and I've only messed around with friends phones a little. I'm going to leave it unrooted for about a week to see how it acts and root it after, everyone say to root the phones for best functionality. One question I do have is it's against VM's tos to use the mobile hotspot feature, have you heard anyone getting in trouble with this yet? Thanks for the video, adding to favorites.
@Scatmanbrandt they updated their data use to state that you can not tether and they watch for large data usage. March there will be a data throttle implemented after 2.5 GB data but data will still remain unlimited. You can unroot your device in you need a warranty exchange. just rooting and few apps ok. be careful in deleting pre installed apps and changing boot logo and sounds.
@mstechify Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking before I do the root (or after, whichever works better) I should backup all the data including the bloatware just in case, not sure how to do that as of now but I'm sure I could Google something. I heard about the data throttle but not too worried about it since it's still unlimited as long as they don't start charging for going over a certain amount in the future.
@Scatmanbrandt just happened to ketch me checking in. If you do a custom recovery you can back up your phones stock rom and data but that takes more risk. where the root was simple unroot with gingerbreak and hard reset then ready to ship for warranty exchange. I suggest just sticking with the root and after 30 day return and getting to know your phone and what you want to do with it.. then you can cross over to the dark side. until then read up on custom recovery, flashing rom, kernel, adb
@Scatmanbrandt there are benefits to rooting. apps that can block ads on apps you install lessening data usage. instead of uninstalling pre installed stuff (which can cause prob if you don't pay attention) you can freeze apps with titantium back up app. keeps them from starting. it is ok to just use your phone as it is. do what you want or are comfortable with.

I use straight Talk as a provider and my phone the LG Optimus Q model number is LGL55C. I did a factory reset too and tried to do the process over but it seems to not be working now! please hep!
hey i did the exact same thing and now it wont let me root again i followed what was done exactly to the t of the video and nuttin judt the dumb error message saying adb can not find internal or external command or suttin like that please help meeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@CELTICSFLBOY
@generationxnothing if superuser was put on then you are rooted. go into market and type super user and get the update. you can double check it after with app called got root
@MsElly101 did you check the root with app. if you have super user you are rooted. did you reboot your phone? try android market ... Root Checker Basic by joeykrim
use ES file explorer to find it on your phone (usually the download file)
open, activate, your good to go.
under Settings- Rename your SSID to what you want your Hotspot to be named, activate the security access controls, then create a passcode/word for wifi access.
worked perfect on my lg optimus slider vm701 android version 2.3.4 which was purchased a month ago from Best buy. I have virgin mobile. I will be sure and pass this video along to anyone who wants to ROOT Optimus slider Best How to out there!
Now that it's rooted can you suggest some good apps. Also is there a trick to using the wifi? I can't seem to connect to my home network with my phone.
@Cee64E try putting in checkmark to see the password you are typing. most of the time is it something like that. also try dropping security on your router just for a few minutes and seeing if you can connect. as for root adfree, titanium backup, Market Enabler, ES File Explorer (after root more access), SD Maid, apps for screen shots
@mstechify Security is open actually. I live so far out in the boonies I don't need it. The phone can detect it but just gets stuck in a scanning loop and won't connect. Thought there might be something I wasn't doing right. Thanks for the app list.
@Cee64E what model of router? and have you ever connect another device to the wifi and what kind? was it working prior to root? just checking if there was something disabled with super user. open super user adn delete permissions (you can always add them again) sometimes something people accidentally hit NOT allowed and wifi gets disabled. Note: and after rooting & custom roms or custom anything only do hard reset from recovery mode. not factory reset from within android OS.
@mstechify It must be something with my Belkin Basic router. I was able to connect easily at work. I'll have to check through my router's settings and make sure there isn't something blocking it there. It'd be great if you could do more of your very informative videos on this model of phone for those of us with less technical experience. Maybe a "Phone Hacking for Dummies" kind of thing? Thanks again for letting me pick your brain..
Just a suggestion...you guys can download the app "Root Check Basic" from the Android Market. I've rooted many phones and this is the app I always use to test for root access.
Great video but I can't get the LG Mobile support tool to recognize my Optimus. Tried both sets of drivers. I start the support tool, plug in the phone and nothing. It's like it's not even there. Any suggestions? Phone is virgin mobile slider
I really need help with this. I did everything you said. I'm pretty sure my phone is updated on the drivers, i checked the unknown sources and stuff. But when I open up run.bat, after it says it started successfully.... It just stays like that for seriously hours.. What am I doing wrong? Please help me :(
@oahfhhfhfhf do you have a firewall? just a thought disconnect internet if it concerns you... and temp disable all security. also are you using a task killer on the phone. did you factory reset first?
@mstechify It still doesn't work. I did a Factory reset on my phone first, updated it with all the drivers, disabled all my security. Don't have any task killer on my phone. And it still just sits there
@oahfhhfhfhf ok so usb debugging, non-market apps selectsed, drivers installed on PC, for you put the settings connectivity to modem connection, you may have to install adb which is part of android sdk. added link under video hope this helps
@Oeduardo6767 Go to the Android Market, and install Rom Manager. The free version will suffice. Next open the app. At the very top you'll see Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Go ahead and select that. Select your phone model from the list and that's it. Very easy.
Was wondering if this exploit will work on Virgin Mobile Slider ( VM 701 ). I want to root my wife's new little toy. Thanks for the helpful info mstechify
@modeloguy Indeed it worked !!!!! Like a charm. Thanks so musch for this well done tutorial. Now I'm off to put a recovery on her phone .... suggestions ??
@modeloguy Worked flawlessly once I found all the drivers for my Slider from VM. Was able to attain root quickly. Just installed a new recovery for my wife and made her a nandroid backup. Great video and "thanks" for providing all the links as well.
@charmin011889 read under video already covered info of that it's a driver error. you need to get the correct one for your phone. what phone you got? read under video for alternate drivers that may work for you.
@phamandrew23 as long as you are not messing with any of the files as in removing anything. but still it is way better to activate first, make sure everything works and up and running. 3g, calls, text. then root after.
@Lmontoya93 Rooting lets you take full advantage of what your hardware is capable of. Such as overclocking and bypass the OS's limitations. Permissions are required for such apps to operate and need root access.... tether, keyboards, customs roms, and just because you can. Yes you can still pay. rooting doesn't remove it adds.
@kingamin77 I just discovered that if you download skyfire you can watch flash vids without abode on the optimus v so that should work for the slider too
mstechify, I can't get your method to work with my Straight Talk Optimus Q (2.3.4), What am I doing wrong? I followed all your steps except the drivers because I couldn't get your driver files to work with my phone / vista 64 machine. I got the L55C drivers from LG and my vista 64 machine recognized the phone. I tried your rooting program and the newest version of superoneclick (2.3.2). It looks like it goes through all of the steps but it wont reboot the phone...
@Thecrazyone1 if they don't work there is a link that a couple people in comments have confirmed it works. main thing if you try different drivers you must fully uninstall the previous driver BEFORE installing the next.
@mstechify Thanks for the reply. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had disabled the LG program that installs with the drivers from starting up with the computer. I just had to re-enable it and run the esteem root. Thanks
Great video! Do you have any insight as to how rooting affects StraightTalk phones? Can I access things like Pandora and the full Internet? (flash, java, etc..) I am very interested as I get no Sprint service where I recently moved. The limitations I have read about on ST's ToS are definitely not "unlimited data" by any means. Any help would be great, thanks!
@alexriesenbeck if switching to strait talk the smartphones they offer run off sprint towers. it is the only way those companies can keep up cause att and verizon won't budge to offer great prices on their towers. if it was GSM I would be there in a heart beat. but to answer question on root. no it doesn't effect those apps at all.
@mstechify Thank you so much for replying! Sprint is not available in the area I am moving to, sounds like I'll be getting something other than an Android smart phone. Was trying to root to use the internet as a USB tether to my laptop, doesn't look like that's possible for more than a short time (before they find out the user is tethering). It would be great if more people followed your format of making tutorial videos, I really appreciate your input, happy holidays! :)
@alexriesenbeck I was going to suggest the E71 with strait talk but in looking straight talk has limited the data to the E71 in fine print due to it's ability to tether that people were doing and it is GSM. reconditions ones are selling for 49 on their site. dam that could of worked for you. fine print states... "The All You Need Plan is not available with certain models of Straight Talk Phones such as the Nokia 6790 and the Nokia E71. " maybe you can find out how much data the E71 gets.
@PwngMike I showed what it does. I tested this out rooting and unrooting then reset AFTER unroot (on win7 and xp). seven times and nothing happened to the phone. why did I do that? to make sure it was OK.
@PwngMike and I only tested on a PC. can you get a hold of a PC? I will send you link to running .bat on a mac. but you are gonna have to replace the actual typed file .bat name. this just idea how to get it done. please seach as reference other running .bat on mac so you understand.... terminal window
Its not letting me open the usb zip files wtf the other drivers won't work eather cuz norton says there bad I needs help please I'm not to bright when it comes to this
@leon111125 copy and pasted info from under the video here: Rooting lets you take full advantage of what your hardware is capable of. Such as overclocking and bypass the OS's limitations. Please do so at your own risk.

Here is the WIFI app!
code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
go to the bottom for the barcode scan.
use ES file explorer to find it on your phone (usually the download file)
open, activate, your good to go.
under Settings- Rename your SSID to what you want your Hotspot to be named, activate the security access controls, then create a passcode/word for wifi access.

Now that it's rooted can you suggest some good apps. Also is there a trick to using the wifi? I can't seem to connect to my home network with my phone.
Cee64E 2 months ago
@Cee64E try putting in checkmark to see the password you are typing. most of the time is it something like that. also try dropping security on your router just for a few minutes and seeing if you can connect. as for root adfree, titanium backup, Market Enabler, ES File Explorer (after root more access), SD Maid, apps for screen shots
mstechify 2 months ago
@mstechify Security is open actually. I live so far out in the boonies I don't need it. The phone can detect it but just gets stuck in a scanning loop and won't connect. Thought there might be something I wasn't doing right. Thanks for the app list.
Cee64E 2 months ago
@Cee64E what model of router? and have you ever connect another device to the wifi and what kind? was it working prior to root? just checking if there was something disabled with super user. open super user adn delete permissions (you can always add them again) sometimes something people accidentally hit NOT allowed and wifi gets disabled. Note: and after rooting & custom roms or custom anything only do hard reset from recovery mode. not factory reset from within android OS.
mstechify 2 months ago
@mstechify It must be something with my Belkin Basic router. I was able to connect easily at work. I'll have to check through my router's settings and make sure there isn't something blocking it there. It'd be great if you could do more of your very informative videos on this model of phone for those of us with less technical experience. Maybe a "Phone Hacking for Dummies" kind of thing? Thanks again for letting me pick your brain..

Oeduardo6767 2 months ago
@Oeduardo6767 Go to the Android Market, and install Rom Manager. The free version will suffice. Next open the app. At the very top you'll see Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Go ahead and select that. Select your phone model from the list and that's it. Very easy.

phamandrew23 2 months ago
@phamandrew23 as long as you are not messing with any of the files as in removing anything. but still it is way better to activate first, make sure everything works and up and running. 3g, calls, text. then root after.

What is rooting? Will it damage my phone?can I still pay virgin mobile though top up cards if my phone is rooted?
Lmontoya93 2 months ago
@Lmontoya93 Rooting lets you take full advantage of what your hardware is capable of. Such as overclocking and bypass the OS's limitations. Permissions are required for such apps to operate and need root access.... tether, keyboards, customs roms, and just because you can. Yes you can still pay. rooting doesn't remove it adds.

vansaar1024 2 months ago
mstechify, I can't get your method to work with my Straight Talk Optimus Q (2.3.4), What am I doing wrong? I followed all your steps except the drivers because I couldn't get your driver files to work with my phone / vista 64 machine. I got the L55C drivers from LG and my vista 64 machine recognized the phone. I tried your rooting program and the newest version of superoneclick (2.3.2). It looks like it goes through all of the steps but it wont reboot the phone...
Thecrazyone1 2 months ago
@Thecrazyone1 if they don't work there is a link that a couple people in comments have confirmed it works. main thing if you try different drivers you must fully uninstall the previous driver BEFORE installing the next.
mstechify 2 months ago
@mstechify Thanks for the reply. I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had disabled the LG program that installs with the drivers from starting up with the computer. I just had to re-enable it and run the esteem root. Thanks
Thecrazyone1 2 months ago
Not sure if I asked you this before but does this phone support abode.flash or play vids that require flash?

@kingamin77 no, but it will do youtube from app.. and other video apps... just not at this time netflix till they fix it.

Quick question.. if I click the unroot button in the gingerbreak, am I able to root the optimus slider without having to use a computer?
W4R10CK5 2 months ago
Great video! Do you have any insight as to how rooting affects StraightTalk phones? Can I access things like Pandora and the full Internet? (flash, java, etc..) I am very interested as I get no Sprint service where I recently moved. The limitations I have read about on ST's ToS are definitely not "unlimited data" by any means. Any help would be great, thanks!
alexriesenbeck 2 months ago
@alexriesenbeck if switching to strait talk the smartphones they offer run off sprint towers. it is the only way those companies can keep up cause att and verizon won't budge to offer great prices on their towers. if it was GSM I would be there in a heart beat. but to answer question on root. no it doesn't effect those apps at all.
mstechify 2 months ago
@mstechify Thank you so much for replying! Sprint is not available in the area I am moving to, sounds like I'll be getting something other than an Android smart phone. Was trying to root to use the internet as a USB tether to my laptop, doesn't look like that's possible for more than a short time (before they find out the user is tethering). It would be great if more people followed your format of making tutorial videos, I really appreciate your input, happy holidays! :)
alexriesenbeck 2 months ago
@alexriesenbeck I was going to suggest the E71 with strait talk but in looking straight talk has limited the data to the E71 in fine print due to it's ability to tether that people were doing and it is GSM. reconditions ones are selling for 49 on their site. dam that could of worked for you. fine print states... "The All You Need Plan is not available with certain models of Straight Talk Phones such as the Nokia 6790 and the Nokia E71. " maybe you can find out how much data the E71 gets.
mstechify 2 months ago
@alexriesenbeck oh and it wasn't meant to tether search... E71 tether straight talk ... and see how it is done
