  • Mmm.... do love SRV...

  • Thank you very much for posting this video. I thought there were no SRV songs I hadn't heard before. This one is new to me and I like it.

  • people who dislike because of the music, dont really know what music is......

  • This aint even a pure blues, its a swingin' jazz groove man. And he plays it better than anyone. That solo is perfection.

  • does ANYBODY have the full Mocambo set??????????? ......PLEASE

....ty for this song, cant find it on album....hmmm

  • I believe that's a John Lee Hooker cover. Brilliant.

  • @xchump yes I first heard this on the JLH "Mr Lucky" album, this is fantastic though

  • The chorus kinda reminds me of randy newman

  • 6 people should be hugged & squeezed by a grizzly bear

  • i just love a man with beautiful hands, i wish he could have, put them on me.

  • Nobody OWNED a Strat like this guy!

  • *****

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan got his big break the year I was born so naturally I wasn't old enough to appreciate his music while he was still alive. By the time I could appreciate his wonderful music his legacy was securely intact. Good to see other folks sharing my love for his music.

  • SRV & DOUBLE TROUBLE kicks my ass on every track from LIVE AT THE EL MOCAMBO. This has been happening to me for 20 something years. It never gets old, just better and better and better. Woot to all the SRV lovers. We are a beautiful gang of miscreants!

  • @nicklebag123 This is Stevie's FINEST recorded concert IMHO. There may be some concerts I've not yet seen (is that possible?), but he and the guys were just on fire this night and all the stars aligned perfectly. He was SUCH a towering talent. It's 20 years on and I'm STILL marveling at his work and his passion nearly every day of my life. I love being part of SRV/DT's gant of miscreants!!! Thanks for your kind words above Nicklebag123!!

  • @SRV4evr You know it, man! I have a bootleg from Japan circa '85 I think. It's amazing, but I think Live @ The El Macombo will always be my favorite. Peace!

  • @nicklebag123 amen to you brother couldnt have put it better myself, never and wont ever get old. had this on VHS (still do somewhere) and bought it on DVD the first time I ever bought a DVD player, could not believe I found this on DVD, 2.07 onwards makes my head explode man (sheeit too many scotch's tonite I think, sorry folks)

  • @timj41 The VHS copy this show was my first live SRV experience (sadly, I never saw the band in person.) When it came out on DVD in 5.1 Dolby Digital I nearly shit my pants. Even if our civilization regresses back to the primitive I'll find someway of watching this show . This and Band Of Gypsys!!

  • @nicklebag123 Amen Brotha!

  • @nicklebag123 You could not have said it better my friend in my heart and ears he will never die and as long as my fingers let me I'll try to play like him!!!!!!!!

  • 2:29 YEAH!

  • Rest in peace, Stevie. You were the blues-man...

  • @DavidAM1770 Still is!

  • @gimickuk1 Sure! :)

  • More great SRV blues--still great 20 years after his tragic death!! RIP Stevie!!

  • miss you - 20 years

  • thanks for posting this gem of a concert, magical!

  • why do the good ones have to go.... Stevie, Jimi Hendrix....

  • @iWearShorts234 not clapton or bb king

  • SRV <3

  • I go wild, crazy!

  • Beware of the repellent magpieeye, a phony and a fake. She breathes lies as she opens her loud mouth. She is the alltime compulsive liar...

  • Here the repellent and phony Harrpie makes her nest..

Who drove the Trojans from the Strophades

With dire announcements of the coming woe.

She has broad wings, a human neck and face,

Clawed feet and a shrill loud voice; she posts

Her sentimental, corny lamentations in her stupid comments.

  • Stevie - I wanna hug you, kiss you, and squeeeeeeze you til my arms fall off!!!! You will NEVER, ever be replaced! God rest your sweet soul.

  • my idol

  • why would you ever say something like that about Stevie Ray, you listened to him for the heart and soul, to watch a human master the art of guitar the way he did is beautiful, you may be right about the repetitive part but he wasn't around forever, he was a blessing to all guitar players of this world. And when his blessing was done he was taken from us, he had a job to do on earth, you ungrateful prick.

  • people gotta stop talkn shit bout canada..i am american NYC but canada is our brother country all you dumb fucks out there i hope somebody farts in your mouth while you sleep

  • Boring.

  • @tony9L9L this song is awesome. what kind of drugs are you on? No where near boring!

  • @rocknroll1able Not nearly as many as alcoholic drug addled Stevie! He is useless, repetitive and unimaginative. Never got anywhere near acheiving his own sound. Boring with a capital 'B'. There are so many good guitar players out there- why would anyone listen to this?

  • @tony9L9L Oh, grow up for crying out loud you poor and sad creature, you're boring as hell and you write like a 3 year old stuck in a wheelchair. There is so many music out there, why spend time on something you obviously do not like you psycho? Folks like you mean nothing to the society, you're just embarassing yourself, every day like a true monkey.

  • @grga888 Have I touched a nerve? You sound like you've been crying.

  • @tony9L9L ur a fuckin retard he is the greatest guitariest since hendrix

  • @Sly6035 And you must be deaf. 12 year old girls play better than Vaughan.

  • @tony9L9L and u must be a dumb bitch that ur retarted mom dropped u on ur head

  • @Sly6035 What does 'retarted' mean Cleetus?

  • @tony9L9L ur an idoit no taste in music and no brains go fuck urself

  • @Sly6035 What is an 'idoit' Cleetus?

Oh its like shooting fish in a barrel this its so easy lol

  • @Sly6035 you shouldn't validate little tony by offering a reply to him...he's been on srv videos spewing bull shit like that forever....most of us just ignore him anymore

  • @johnny2366 ik im goin to stop

  • @johnny2366 did u watch the little wing at el macambo

  • @Sly6035 yes...I have the dvd...kicks ass as usual

  • @johnny2366 hb austin city limits?

  • @Sly6035 yes...there is none that I havent seen...at least that I know of anyway

  • @johnny2366 his box collection

  • @johnny2366 Amen to that! Tony is a troll. He's probably hurting, and I am sorry but just ignore what he says, he has no excuse for trolling. I mean, it's okay to dislike it, but if he doesnt like it, he should just leave.

  • @grga888 Ignore Tony, he's a troll.

  • @tony9L9L tee hee

  • Is this an SRV original tune or a cover, if it is a cover who is it originally by?

  • God knows I love ya Karla, told the world I do.....haha, you know I did too :)

  • Check out maaa band :)

  • This is a good one for Stevie, it really illustrates his R&B guitar style.

  • Rave on Stevie Rave On!

  • I saw him and Joe Cocker together outside in B-ham about a year before he died

  • awesome! which album contains that song?

  • @mangiapatatearrosto martin scorsese presents the blues: stevie ray vaughan

  • Man... why is it we always have to lose the good ones. He was so god damn good. Why couldn't Nickleback crash in Alpine?

  • @VoodooItaliana -- damn dude, that's cold ! - why the nickelback ? -they're ok ? - -= and yes, it's true, god takes all the greats early, -- but hell, there's a kick-ass band waitin in heaven !

  • @bluelibra65 Nickleback stinks worse than rotting donkey testicles. It's not their fault I suppose... I mean, they ARE Canadian.

  • @VoodooGoddess -- haha -- i have never actually got down and smelled 'donkey testicles fresh, much less the rotting kind, but i would imagine they both are awful.

  • @VoodooGoddess coming from an american! LOL

  • @outwestab...Canadian are of the Americas, too... What's your point?

  • @outwestab Canadians are of the Americas, too. What's your point?

  • True musical ability is a channeling of god. The myth comment is ingnorant

  • @chadcoleman808 ... exactly... god... jesus.... powers that be.... whatever you want to call it.... I call it LOVE.... SRV LOVED to play guitar... that is "god".... he tapped into something I only wish and dream I could.

  • @IsaacB5679 I think Saul Williams put it best.

"God knows who I am, in fact I know him personally, he lets me call him me!"

Love what you do and it'll come to, eventually.

  • does anyone know where you can geta hat like that i want one.

  • That DVD's great I got it about a month ago and I've been listening to it every day since I got it. The best songs on it are: Testify, So excited, Hug you, Squeeze you, Texas flood, Lenny, Love Struck Baby, and Tell Me.

  • @EngineNumber5

Mary Had A Little Lamb is off the hook as well.....one of my faves

  • Thank you for posting! This is just astonishing...

  • Thank you for posting! This is just astonishing...

  • First time hearing this song. More and more performances from El Mocambo keep showing up on youtube. I love it!

  • Oh, Come On!! He and that guitar are siamese twins!!

  • he's pretty sexy on that guitar

  • Stevie ruled his kingdom, that's for GD sure! I have never seen a better guitar player! Jesus FKN Christ!!! Impressive is all I can say. A guitar player's guitar player, for MF sure!

  • dude, your comment is kind of respectless, especially considering the fact that SRV was a Christian.

  • Watch your mouth! SRV was God! A MF Guitar God and if you don't like the way I express myself ... then well, that's like your opinion, Man. If God played guitar, he would sound just like Stevie. And by the way, I got what's good right here! Go preach to somebody else, Bitch.

  • i aint preaching i'm just telling you to show some respect. also, quoting the big lebowski is getting kinda lame.

  • Let me tell you something, pendejo. You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the fucking trigger 'til it goes "click." Nobody fucks with the Jesus.

  • Jesus is a myth.

  • not a myth a lie :P

  • mmmm..... So a lie has changed millions of peoples lives for the better for over 2 thousand years now. Wow! Thats something!

  • And Stevie is as real as it gets

  • that tone is so cool!!

  • This was featured in the SRV box pack. I love it

  • All of his guitars used Bass frets as well. The man was a beast. But what tone!

  • Comment removed

  • this song is soooo cuteeee!

  • i read on another youtube vid that this was one of his least popular songs.... i can't imagine why, its amazing!

  • At about 3:07, when he looks right at the camera...awesome, when you see that passion for the music.

  • If this song was a girl i would bang it!

  • Hahaaa, great comment!!

  • thank you ;)

  • @stevieray09 Does anyone know if Stevie ever covered Jimi's "Foxy Lady?" I've not ever heard it, but would love to if it's out there somewhere.

  • @SRV4evr im sured hes played it around the house when he was young, but i dont think he ever recoreded it somewhere, that be pretty cool though

  • @SRV4evr Did he ever do "Livin for the City" by Stevie Wonder, by any chance? I know this is probably a lost cause, but I think it would have been so awesome. It's just... him! For some reason, it suits him. Johnny Lang sings it though.

  • @SaratheSlytherin That doesn't sound familiar, but never say never. He may have, and that would have been soooo cool!!

  • @SRV4evr I would be so happy if they uncovered a recording of that somewhere.

  • @stevieray09 Just use your right hand.

  • Thanks Stevie Ray

  • Thanks Stevie Ray

  • Stevie you were the guitar version of Michael Flatley, truly one of a kind.

  • I have never seen anyone that could multi task the way he did. He plays back up and then solo, sing, back and forth. Amazing. He was so original.

  • anyone know what string guage he used.I read somewhere that he used 13/56 which is a jazz string.Tried the on my 60 relic strat and they were brutal.I now use 11/54 Ernie Ball and they are much more manageable. Can some shed some credible light?

  • I've read that stevie used up to 18's and later in his career his guitar tech (i think) convinced him to start using 11's, 12's, and 13's because he was ripping the callouses off his fingers. Look around online there are tons of stuff dedicated to his tones, setups, strings, etc.

  • stevie played on 13s never heard him playing on 18s because thats too unreal even for him.

  • I don't know why your comment has thumbs down, because it's true. He said using the 18's was, "insane" but he played "more simply" with them. Whatever more simply means for Vaughan.

  • Yes it's true, he used 13's early in his career. But towards the end of his carreer, when he was his biggest, he dropped to 11's and played those until he died.

  • cher steve

  • fucking orgasm!!!!!! good!!!!

  • oh stevie, come back, come back... sigh

  • srv rocks!!!!!!!!!!!

    peoria, illinois

  • It's a matter of opinion.. I love them both, but I think stevie comes out on top, IMO. Would have loved to hear them jam together.

  • Ya know what would be cool to see? Stevie Ray Vaughn and Ray Charles

  • man i wish more people would listen to this kind of music.

  • ...exclusively. :)

RIP Stevie. You were the BEST!

  • very distinctive tone

  • I had no idea he is soo good.

  • This one of my all time favorites. This is off of "Live at El Mocambo" a video. This song is on the boxed set as well.

  • first time ive ever heard this song ... what album is that one on???

  • It's not on an album that's been released yet (we can hope that one day).

It is on the "Live at the El Mocambo" video. That's the only place I've heard it.

  • there is a CD of material that got put out because martin scorsezi made a documentary on blues and i think one on SRV and this is on that cd along with Slide thing and give me back my wig =)

  • Stevie was and is still GREAT

  • best ever

  • El Mas Grande De Todos!

  • Wish I could Hug You, Kiss You, Squeeze You till my arms fall off. Miss You SRV...but will never forget you!!!!!

  • I always wondered too.

  • good question!
