Machiavelli himself stated, in The Prince, that it is easier to seize power if you are a liberal. Before somebody tells me that I'm one-sided, I don't support conservatives either. The vast majority of those in power do not truly believe in what they advocate, but simply form their "stances" in order to garnish more votes and take more power. As for Ben Stein, he is hardly a valid political commentator, and I suggest you look elsewhere for insightful discussions on today's government.
