In the book it said harry heard her scream somewhere ahead of him, which shows how far she got. And in this movie harry heard her scream, ran BEHIND to go get her, after he sent the sparks is when he started running in that one direction (Which she was headed) and when he turned to his right there it was. Damn you go girl, harry owes her a thank you.

I never understood why people always mosy along in mazes going "HRMM I wonder what why I should go???La Di DA Di DA" you cant really see where you are, or whats ahead of you, or how far you've come. So my logic would be to simply start running and eventually you'll get somewhere. Seeing as its a maze it might take forever, but at least your not all "I'll just keep walking along and maybe a sign will pop up, WHISTLE WHILE WORK, LALALALALA!"

of the few things this movie did right... Newell does have a nice sense of tonal transition in his filmmaking - this scene is impressive in the way that you hear the school band playing still in the foreground as Harry steps in, and then the maze just shuts him off from all that - the band music silenced. That sense of safety, and suddenly Harry's alone. oh and the maze was shit compared to the book lol. Psychological power for all its worth, in this case can't top Rowling's imagination
