haha this was my favourite toy when i was 12. I remember building it for the 3rth time, but sadly I had to skip the crane part because all the electronics were broken. I just filled the open spaces with black blocks instead. I'm 17 years now and its still intact.
I modified this set back in 95ish into a low-loading big-rig tractor-unit with added trailer with detachable pneumatic 'neck' for all my other construction sets when I woz a kid, coz I thought the crane looked a little out of place on the back of that awesome working rig - woz my crowning moment in model making: over a meter long in total and fully operational... before the days of brickshelf or pick-a-brick sadly so no pics or plans and it took a year to canabalise other sets for the parts....
....It, along with the others also certainly made an excellent birthday present for the kids of the thief that burgled our house when we were on holiday that year, and broke my heart into the bargain....Hmm, maybe its time I put those pieces (and bricks) back together again, eh! :-)
Yeah... actually I've seen some videos of them turning smoothly and I put some new cylinders on my truck and it turned a lot better. I also emailed lego and they told me to put some vasaline on the metal part of the cylinder
I love this set! You can do all sorts of things with it too- I put on a bucket and longer arm and turned it into an excavator (was pretty good at digging up snow) Taking off the crane section makes it into a good semi truck and just asks for a trailer to match :)

I just got this set off ebay. It rocks except it doesn't rotate that smoothly, it jumps a bit kind of like yours. I think it might need lubricating.
lorirocks777 3 years ago
They all rotate like this, it's normal. Word of advice: DO NOT lubricate your pneumatics.
