I would think the Cadi would be quick with 6.2 V8. The Escalade has 403hp for $63K and Mini S has 172hp for $23K and it was only slower then the Cadi by 2/10ths of a sec. But I do agree with UpGlory09: "How is it even relevant?" I think they just had these two in there test collection and said hey lets race'em!
The Escalade has more low end torque, so it will go off the line quicker but as you can see the Mini's high end torque kicked in and it took the lead.

The Caddy has almost twice the power and tourqe. It weights twice as much and can carry twice as many people (and all their stuff) in greater comfort. It may swill gas, but you can't tow with the Mini (and your pretty much screwed as soon as you get more than a few inches of snow or mud).
Well now that gas is down at $2.25 per gallon, I know which one I'd rather be in too. The Caddy. It's roomier, more powerful, and a hell of a lot more luxurious.
The hybrid Caddy is hella worth it. It's just like the LX570 but with 21 miles per gallon.

Actually the BMW did have 14-way seats as I recall, offers more than just heated rear seats (reclining and all), keyless start, power trunk lid, etc. It also returns significantly better mileage.

Automatic tinting on the rear windows, Navigation, 14 Way power seats all around,4 zone climate control front/rear..It has a 400hp 4.4L V8 and gets 22mpg on the highway..and it will seat 5 people..And with 400hp I could tow with it if I wanted to..All with 5 year/100000m warranty where all oil changes and routine maint is FREE during the warranty! I will admit, people who buy Escalades rarely carpool or tow, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. And just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But the 2009 Escalade hybrid does get 20 mpg city. The 2008 Mini Cooper S gets 19 city. Granted, there is a year between the two and it is only 1 city mpg, but all things considered, that is still kinda impressive. But who cares, it's comparing apples and oranges here. A large SUV and a sub-compact are polar opposites.
Fair enough, though there has been no official mention of estimated city fuel economy except that they expect about a 50% increase. And I'm betting actually achieving this result will be rather difficult. I find hybrid technology cool but not the way to go just yet - needs development still. Very rarely is the estimated increase in gas mileage actually "real world" achievable. As such, I think we need to embrace the more proven and reliable technology; diesel.

I don't know where you get your numbers from. According to the EPA the 2009 MINI Cooper S gets 26/34 while the Escalade Hybrid gets 20/21. My 2004 MINI Cooper S gets about 33 doing 70-80 and usually gets almost 500 miles on a 13.2 gallon tank.

It's powerful, actually quick (considering its weight), reasonably priced, and luxurious (of course). And I have an 07 Escalade. It runs well. Believe it or not, it's actually fun to drive, when backroad bombing or just cruising on the highway. It's easy to do 60mph anywhere, which is why I love it. The LX570 is an overpriced overweight piece of shit that doesn't drive well...

Well one's $25,000 and the other's $55,000. One's somewhat sporty and the other one is very sporty (considering its class), very powerful, and very luxurious. 14 miles per gallon versus 26 is annoying, but I'd rather go for the Escalade (unless I would have to pay for it, then the Cooper S would win. Those things are so fun to drive, as I've been told).
Cadillac Escalade is definitely the best in its class - large luxury sport utility vehicles. 6.3 seconds... amazing. And the BMW Z4 does 6.2! Think of that, a "sports" car is just a teeny bit faster in acceleration than a mammoth SUV. Z4 sucks. Escalade is AWESOME!

That can be argued... The MINI is designed by BMW which is german. The only British tie now is that it is assembled there at the Oxford plant. BMW purchased mini back in early 2000s.

I think we have some Mini Haters on our hands..Its funny how people just get on here and talk shit about stuff they know nothing about..Please just shut your mouths if you are doing nothing but commenting because you hate the make of the vehicle..you just look stupid..I owned a Mini Cooper S with CAI, Full Borla Exhaust, 17% SC Pulley and a tune (Only Cost me around $1500) and I never got beat by any Civics, S2000, Mustang GT and damn sure no Escalades..in a straight and surely not in a curve!!!

The Caddy has almost twice the power and tourqe. It weights twice as much and can carry twice as many people (and all their stuff) in greater comfort. It may swill gas, but you can't tow with the Mini (and your pretty much screwed as soon as you get more than a few inches of snow or mud).

The hybrid Caddy is hella worth it. It's just like the LX570 but with 21 miles per gallon.
And, here are just SOME of the standard features in the Escalade and not in the Cooper S: Power liftgate, heated 2nd-row seats, leather upholstery, Bose radio, remote engine start, memory system, tri-zone climate controls, etc. etc. etc.

I think you are forgetting that the Escalade costs more than twice as much as a Cooper S so it had better have a few more options. These two cars could not be any more different and why they are being compared option-to-option I have no idea. Just enjoy the drag race and leave it at that.

yea, they are very different cars. one is a very powerful, very upscale monster while the other is a fun, little, fuel-efficient coupe.
the only thing they have in common is acceleration times. they both get to 60mph in about 6.5 seconds, the mini a tad bit faster.

Its actually 4 more cyl but..This is comparing apples to oranges.If I was looking for luxury you can buy a 2006+ BMW 750il for cheaper than a Chevrolet Caddy Escalade. BMW 7 Benefits- More Luxurious, More Powerful, better fuel economy, Still Under BMW Factory Warranty(all free), and you get a TRUE LUXURY VEHICLE. Escalade Benefits- MORE ROOM FOR STORAGE and you can TOW with it. If these cars were FREE most everyone wanting true luxury would pick a BMW...Escalades are knock off luxury trucks.

I think the Escalade is just as luxurious as a 2006 BMW 750li. Yes, the BMW has a navi system. But does it have heated 2nd-row seats? The Escalade does. Power liftgate? The Escalade does. 14-way power front seats? The Escalade does. Keyless start? (Maybe) The Escalade does.
Maybe the BMW gets about 1mpg more, so you'd probably save about $100 in a year of driving. Take yourself and six others out to dinner at a nice restaurant with that $100? That'd be nice, but I'd still rather have the Esc.

Actually the BMW did have 14-way seats as I recall, offers more than just heated rear seats (reclining and all), keyless start, power trunk lid, etc. It also returns significantly better mileage.
But uh, the whole comparison here is a bit a miss. So few will cross shop a new Cadillac SUV with a used BMW sedan.

Actually Mr.Cool is exactly right. The BMW has all of those options you listed for the escalade and more. Automatic tinting on the rear windows, Navigation, 14 Way power seats all around,4 zone climate control front/rear..It has a 400hp 4.4L V8 and gets 22mpg on the highway..and it will seat 5 people..And with 400hp I could tow with it if I wanted to..All with 5 year/100000m warranty where all oil changes and routine maint is FREE during the warranty! THAT IS LUXURY!!

I will admit, people who buy Escalades rarely carpool or tow, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. And just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But the 2009 Escalade hybrid does get 20 mpg city. The 2008 Mini Cooper S gets 19 city. Granted, there is a year between the two and it is only 1 city mpg, but all things considered, that is still kinda impressive. But who cares, it's comparing apples and oranges here. A large SUV and a sub-compact are polar opposites.

Fair enough, though there has been no official mention of estimated city fuel economy except that they expect about a 50% increase. And I'm betting actually achieving this result will be rather difficult. I find hybrid technology cool but not the way to go just yet - needs development still. Very rarely is the estimated increase in gas mileage actually "real world" achievable. As such, I think we need to embrace the more proven and reliable technology; diesel.

I'm totally with you there. However, not just diesel, but biodiesel. And diesel (bio or not) won't work in all situations so there we need ethanol (made from cellulose). But let's not get too far off topic here and leave it at that. Hybrids aren't quite what they are lauded to be and comparing a Mini and an Escalade is apples and oranges.

I don't know where you get your numbers from. According to the EPA the 2009 MINI Cooper S gets 26/34 while the Escalade Hybrid gets 20/21. My 2004 MINI Cooper S gets about 33 doing 70-80 and usually gets almost 500 miles on a 13.2 gallon tank.

No, but automatic transmission will prevent undeersteering. The Escalade is my favorite full-size luxury SUV. It's powerful, actually quick (considering its weight), reasonably priced, and luxurious (of course). And I have an 07 Escalade. It runs well. Believe it or not, it's actually fun to drive, when backroad bombing or just cruising on the highway. It's easy to do 60mph anywhere, which is why I love it. The LX570 is an overpriced overweight piece of shit that doesn't drive well...

Escalades have a very High center Gravity and weights over 5k lb!!! This thing will not go around a corner, but im guessing driver's heaven for you is a straight highway...

Well one's $25,000 and the other's $55,000. One's somewhat sporty and the other one is very sporty (considering its class), very powerful, and very luxurious. 14 miles per gallon versus 26 is annoying, but I'd rather go for the Escalade (unless I would have to pay for it, then the Cooper S would win. Those things are so fun to drive, as I've been told).

Cadillac Escalade is definitely the best in its class - large luxury sport utility vehicles. 6.3 seconds... amazing. And the BMW Z4 does 6.2! Think of that, a "sports" car is just a teeny bit faster in acceleration than a mammoth SUV. Z4 sucks. Escalade is AWESOME!
