I find it sad while I read the comments and see that nobody under 20 knows what the sky used to look like, and the we never had these "circumhorizontal arcs" being reflected by a "contrail", even though we still had jets.  This is something new caused by chemtrails, and everyone is just letting happen. I was well into my adult like before I ever saw one of these chembows, and now I see them all the time. Yet, I've always been a cloud watcher...

@Angrychic Plane flies through sky emitting steam as exhaust. Rapid change in pressure condenses steam to water, forming a cloud of water droplets. Water droplets cause wave reflection, then refraction and a rainbow appears. Quite simple...

Maybe it's the fact that jet engines are becoming more efficient and expelling more clean steam which is able to diffract the light better than black/gray smog exhaust

@premaddonalert Any combustion reaction produces H20 as a product, it's basic chemistry.... The intense heat involved in the combustion causes the water to come out as steam.

Maybe what I should have said instead of "more clean steam" was "more complete combustion." In incomplete combustion (as in a less-efficient engine), small particulate matter is exhausted which would absorb light and prevent the appearance of rainbows.

Refraction is when a wavelength of ligt hits an object that is SMALLER than the wave length.

This of causes refraction and the colour spectrum break down.

@btekwindsolar Not quite. Refraction occurs when light hits ANYTHING in which it travels slower. In a water droplet, the light moves more slowly, and the speed also depends on the wavelength of the light. The slower the speed, the more the light is diffracted. Longer wavelengths (ie red) aren't slowed down as much as shorter wavelengths (violet), which is why red is at the top of a rainbow. (I may have this backwards).

At 0:05 seconds and especially at 6 seconds, you can see it branch off on the right side. It almost looks like antennae with dots surrounding each one. I think it is a HAARP cloud. I wish that you would have done a close-up on that branched end for a bit.
