I don't mean to be annoying, and Iove this show. But the only thing I need use when I want to use two monitors is an old VGA cable i had from a monitor that died, lol.
hey Linus, I think you should make more vids about SSD's , Pci-e ones in particular (there was a brief mention of them in one of your videos) like the revodrive x2 or the x3 coming soon. Thanks , great video! as always.
Don't really get it... It has a wireless option, but don't use it cause it sucks.. So use the usb 3.0 method instead. And even then the framerate is very low. Why not just use a regular monitor and connect it with a hdmi cable? Seems like that would be just as easy as plugging in an usb cable? Sure you lose out on the mouse and keyboard but you can still get that by plugging in them into your computer. So you basically pay twice as much for a built in usb hub and low framerate?
Is the Samsung 950 monitor not far off from unboxing? I've been really interested in getting that monitor, but since it's over $650, I'm very wary about buying it.
I think Samsung is the wrong company to do this. Maybe Intel will buy their patents or something and incorporate it into their next generation of WiDi.
@cvdvds Except every Dell monitor, every Apple monitor, most new monitors from all other brands, every AMD GPU, every nVidia GPU, all Apple macs and every legacy VGA monitor with just a cheap passive converter, something HDMI cannot do.
Add to that a bandwidth that's 4 times higher and support for daisychaining, and you have to be an idiot to call HDMI better. The only advantage in HDMI is its support by TVs. But for computers DP is the future.
@cvdvds ? nothing on earth supports that piece of crap DP? wow..you must really be a computer gaming noob. there's many amd video cards that have full sized, mini sized with adaptors, and rarely BOTH sized display "out" ports. few nvidia cards also have them. apple 21.5" and 27" monitors support that connection natively and more monitors are adopting it as we speak. have fun laughing in the mirror kid. there's your sign
@AndehX For most user that is true, yes :) In fact most users won't even care whether they use VGA or HDMI or Displayport: they see the same image on the screen so they are happy :)
@JustCallMeBen im not sure about MOST users. but either way..if that's true..most users ARE DUMBASSES. and just plain ignorant of the massive difference
@chronofusion well most users aren't really tech-savy, and didn't update their monitor in the last 5 years, so they are still stuck on VGA ;) In fact, my secondary monitor is also still VGA. But that's just because I'm cheap ;D
@JustCallMeBen nothing wrong with being frugal with your money ( aka you saying you're cheap with the secondary monitor). and dvi monitors have been around for the past 7 years maybe more if my memory serves me correctly. more for me to research. cheers
@onishchuk4 Depends on the kinds of files being transferred. It's much faster with large, sequential reads/writes than with small files. This is normal.
@onishchuk4 i know right. screw usb 3. bring on Thunderbolt. It actually MATCHES or close a hell of a lot closer to matching their advertised speeds than usb 3. Samsung needs to Partner with Intel to integrate Thunderbolt ports into that monitor. shit. this thing is really not advertised towards the old fart age work environment but towards the multimedia and gaming consumers. I can't find that CA750 27" samsung monitor anywhere online yet. I bet it will be overpriced though.
@Turtlelegsable It is. They just install it so many times on different hardware set up that it's pointless activating it. It'll be wiped off there within a day or so of it being put on.
@xsonicbladex To be fair, it is wireless. More pixels would hurt performance a little too much over a wireless connection. But I agree in principle. Rather low resolution for such a large display. It would have been nice if they had the option to go to 2560 x 1440 if you connect it by cable but limit it to 1920 x 1080 if using the wireless. Of course they'd also have to use the more expensive dual-link DVI port and get rid of VGA all together too lol.
@TalesOfWar I can't wrap my head around why VGA is still used lol, but i get the whole wireless bandwidth limit as a possible problem, but why not make the display the same size as other 1080p monitors (24" in general)
great tech not quite there yet, also this would be awsome with a power mat aswell just put your laptop on the mat next to the monitor no cables quick and easy
@CombedPanther He has explained why it is not activated before. It is genuine, but each time you change a major component it asks you to reactivate. That takes time and is not worth doing if you are changing components soon again.
