nope mp7 and p90 are classified as assault rigle with their amount of firepower smg's have a limited firepower but the mp7 and p90 have a very high velocity ammo that has armour piercing rounds taht make it into an assault rifle.
The MP7 and P90 does have armorpiercing rounds. That doesn't mean it's an assault rifle. Assault rifles are designed with all-around standardized military use in mind. MP7 and P90 are intended to be used as automatic sidearms. The MP7 and the P90 belongs to the Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) category. Submachine guns fire pistol cartridges with fully automatic capability. Assault rifles fire standardized rifle ammunition. The MP7 and P90 doesn't use pistol cartridges nor rifle cartridges.
the p90 was made for tank crews to replace m4's and mp5 but the m4 was to big and the mp5 did not have enuf firepower and yes pdw is personal defence weapon now they are trying to give snipers the mp7 instead of the m4 and or m16 cause it is small
