Phoenix is confined to a host. She is easily subdued by the x-men. Marvel Comics issued a What If? issue where the entire Marvel Universe fought the Silver Surfer. I believe the issue was entitled, "What If, Galactus had devored the earth"? Or something like that. The Surfer destroyed every Marvel hero, villain and entity including The Hulk and a standstill battle to the death against Thor the God of Thunder.

@v2freak The massive sums of power that the Phoenix was using to defeat Galactus was depleting energy reserves for future generations, and thus Galactus declared Phoenix a hypocrite for trying to stop him from feeding on a planet when her very own actions would have far more detrimental consequences. He didn't really defeat Phoenix, but he talked her down.
