  • no matter what a drum corps plays, it always sounds epic when it's loud

  • mellos kickin it

  • Next years show theme?

  • I don't think it's that distracting to have the clapping from the audience. You pretty much tune them out while performing anyways.

  • not only will people ALWAYS clap, but so many cannot clap in time. not to mention sound delay.

  • holly sex i love the lmost cracking sound

  • i fucking hate it when people clap

  • woodwinds suck and should be confined to a stage, except maybe a piccolo

  • @razorramon4ever shut up

  • as distracting as the claps are, at least they are pretty much together. thank goodness

  • Love it!!

  • It's drum corps bro not marching band

  • Cadets do it better...and cleaner.

  • @seanowensullivan I believe the correct phrasing is the Cadets copied the Cavaliers

  • MJ would be proud :)

  • I still dont get why wood winds arent allowed in, I overplay my whole entire brass section and i play tenor sax. I am even loud on the clarinet and intune

  • @mikey12O Because brass has a richer sound..and brasss is louder naturally . i doubt if u got a group of woodwinds this big it would sound nearly as good or loud

  • @zeno442 That is true in a way, but have you heard how loud a Bari and Tenor sax can get? I play on 3 to 4 1/2 reeds and when we compete, i have to play on a 2 1/2 or else the judges will get yelled at, the baritones dont which makes me mad... But then you have the piccolo which can over power a whole band because of how high pitch they are, so brass is louder in a way and then Woodwinds are louder in another way

  • @mikey12O cuz you wont be heard over 80 horns kid. a hs marchin band is one thing. a drum corps full of brass players that really know what they are doing is a completely different thing.

  • @mikey12O I play alto sax and even I know brass has a lot more volume capability because our brass section is pretty loud. Also, its the visual effect of the brass bells towards the box that gives it the DCI feel. And their drill and body moves are more to accomodate brass instruments since its easier to maneuver. For alto sax or clarinet, if we ever put our instruments down, we have to be careful not the break the reed and take off neckstraps and it just becomes a huge hassle.

  • @helloman1556 Well you havent heard me play. I am the only Tenor Sax Player in my band(I have ruffly 36 people in my marching band.) And The Judges have said that the Tenor Sax Player is Way to loud. It is me against four baritones three trumpets and 3 melophones. I think that means something when one single wind player can beat all those brass players.

  • @mikey12O Well that's completely different since the sound isn't really balanced between all of the instruments in your marching band. Since your sound is the one of the only woodwind tenor voices, it sticks out a lot. In a band of almost 400 like mine, you can barely hear the whole woodwind section at all. Also, in a whole drum corps, everyone is pretty amazing on their own and know how to play their respective instruments like a pro. I'm pretty sure you won't be heard over a trumpet in a corps

  • @Makugan07 who said you'll sound good

  • @mikey12O Yeah, it means you're playing too loud

  • @mikey12O I agree with you in someways, I play in the red deer royals, and we just went to MACBDA this summer. I saw one of the bands, Sultanah Asmah, they were not a drum corp, and yet they had a confident sound, and there drill was at least as good as Phantom Regiment, if not the Cavvies. They lack power, but make up for it in depth of sound and musicality. For example, I've never heard any brass instrument (to a reasonable extent, Jens Linneman is crazy) do anywhere close to what a wind does.

  • @DCIstampede

Your whole band went to Malaysia? that's cool. I'm from Jit Sin High School.

  • haha my band plays the same arrangement, although not as well

  • These days neither the band nor the cheer squad need the football program. Both have their own gigs. I'm not judging that! I'm just saying it's different. So, my original comment lacks merit. Maybe the corps and the bands are quite similar. Cheers!

  • @littledrummerboymc, @thsma2009; I'll bet your bands are GREAT! I'm kinda old... lol... Seems things have changed; not calling it good or bad, but seems the band has it's own thing nowadays. In the past it was all about the football game and the band existed to entertain the football fans and cheer on (musically) the football team. Same with the Cheer squad.

  • Nice.

  • Timpani should have gotten to play the bass part.

  • The crowd has no idea how distracting the claps sound on the field lol

  • @saltyslugofdoom

    SERIOUSLY! lol

  • @saltyslugofdoom thank god its a drum corps show and most people there have a concept of time, even if you are in a dome haha.

  • @saltyslugofdoom I know it throws you off...

  • @saltyslugofdoom At least the claps are mostly in time and not completely off

  • Most bands should also be insulted by being mistaken for a drum and bugle corps. They have a very different mission. The band (ages 14-21) exists as part of the school system. They are there as part of the students to entertain the students. They have other things to do, and should not be practicing much more than band class hours. The band if good, is more entertaining to it's student body. The corps is always technically superior, but may only appeal to folks that know corps.

  • @dxt82 damn, then my group over does it. lol

  • @dxt82 my band has practice 5 days out of 7 every week outside of class

  • I remember this... my first year and first time to DCI... It was awesome!

  • I LOVE this .. Good job !

  • @ABCHealTheWorld no i love the performance. My point was that most drum corps get insulted when you call them marching bands. Just so you know drum corps practice anywhere from 9 to 14 hours a day depending on the core and each specific day. A marching band usually doesnt practice anywhere near that.

  • @dragonbrings You get the last word my friend. I'm done. Thanks for the education about drum corps vs. marching bands.

  • @ABCHealTheWorld no problem i stil recommend lookin up more one really great show was in 2008 by a group called phantom regiment the show title is Sparticus and is one of (in my opinon) one of the coolest shows of all time and was a great upset against the ranked #1 core check it out

  • @dragonbrings OK .. I did just that. I did the search and found the drum corps you referred to and I must give it to you .. they were excellent. Now I feel like a fool about the "band" vs "drum corps." I've learned my lesson. Please accept my apology. Drum and Bugle Corps ROCK ! Peace .. and pray for the beautiful people of Japan. <33

  • i kept thinking eventually they'll march and play at the same time, but it's DCI

  • Great job! THRILLER by the Cavaliers!

  • Chills...

  • I like the tenors doing the thriller dance @ 0:42

  • YESSSSS!!!!!

    AWESOME
