Linux sucks at gaming but it can own Windows and Macs on other areas.
Remember that ubuntu is considered my most the step linux needed to be avaiable to everyone. Ubuntu is quite new in comparison to Windows, it's first release was in the end of 2004. Anyway,everyone with a decent computer can run windows' games on linux with vmware.

*nux is a far more intuitive server platform than mac osx. At least Microsoft has a fantastic Windows Server edition. Mac has some flimsy shit that no one in IT in their right minds would use.

for realz, PCs DOMINATE consoles, was playing halo2 against some friends I was using my PC they were using their shity 360s they got schooled. they dominate both by graphics and control layout.
Not at all, you don't have to move your thumb between 2 buttons, you just put your 2nd finger on the trackpad to signal a right click, how is that HARDER than traditional right-clicking?
You use a similar method for scrolling in any direction, again easier than moving your finger to a scrollwheel or scroll strip.
When multitouch tech finally filters down to cheap PCs you'll get your head around it with in 2 weeks use or so ;P

Consoles are very limited in capacity, once they're launched they MIGHT be close to a high-end PC but is driven over in a month by miles as PC equipment are dynamic so to speak, you can adapt it after your needs and consoles are more expensive in the long shot if we consider the huge price-tag on games and online services. Most gaming systems nowadays outperform any console.

People compare apples and oranges with MACs and PCs. Windows is mainly used for gaming and things like that, kind of a Windows only thing.
MACs(I am told) are used for graphic arts and things like Photoshop,3DSMAX and movie/sound editing(I run 3DSMAX and Photoshop fine on my PC no problems there).
Linux/VMS/Unix(Different operating systems for PC) are use for programming/servers and things orientated around that(Which I can also do on my Windows PC to a certain point).
It looks to me that PCs are able to do all of those things and because I keep my Windows PC up to date and clean it does it very well. I don't have problems with viruses or crashing as MAC people like to point out the only problems I have gotten is with a few new games where there was bad coding causing the game to crash(Software problem) which was easily fixed with a patch.

I'm not much of a gamer, and I know that the number of games for Linux is way limited, but Second Life looks a hell of a lot better when I run it on SUSE Linux than when I run it on Windows XP. It's all about marketing, not technology.
Linux is overall best, in terms of Mac/Windows, it's stable and secure like you'd expect in a mac, and it's useable and has alot of support like you'd expect for Windows, and if you're swiming from Windows, you don't have to fork out a fuck load of cash for a new computer, you just burn your distro of choice to a CD and install.

DavidTL, you also need to hack the mac to be able to add a very good video card and more than 512 MB of RAM. Finally, the Intel Core 2 Duo is fast, but not the best gaming processor. It's a technical thing. In conlcusion, macs sux 4 gamz.

Theres no GOOD games for a MAC, I want to play Steam games, Battlefield, GTA, Madden etc. These games arent made for MACs. The main reason I dont have a mac is simple no support for games, PLUS it costs too much for what it is.

With a basic X1600 card, we can run all your games as good as a 8800GTX..
The reason for that is because our hardware doesn't come to life by itself..it comes to life with an operating system.
Your operating system demands that much power to run a simply game, simply because your operating system doesn't bring your hardware to life.
That alone makes Macs better than ANY PC...

First off, you don't need glutenous (geforce 8800gtx) hardware to do what you can in open GL. The reason why it's so good is because it's a SGI based means you can do SO much more advanced 3D rendering programs like Maya.

The 8600GT is actually a FAR FAR worse card than any 7950. Other than that, it would appear to be a good deal. Vista is absolute garbage and XP pwns it for everything except DirectX.

People compare apples and oranges with MACs and PCs. Windows is mainly used for gaming and things like that, kind of a Windows only thing.
MACs(I am told) are used for graphic arts and things like Photoshop,3DSMAX and movie/sound editing(I run 3DSMAX and Photoshop fine on my PC no problems there).

It looks to me that PCs are able to do all of those things and because I keep my Windows PC up to date and clean it does it very well. I don't have problems with viruses or crashing as MAC people like to point out the only problems I have gotten is with a few new games where there was bad coding causing the game to crash(Software problem) which was easily fixed with a patch.

Linux is overall best, in terms of Mac/Windows, it's stable and secure like you'd expect in a mac, and it's useable and has alot of support like you'd expect for Windows, and if you're swiming from Windows, you don't have to fork out a fuck load of cash for a new computer, you just burn your distro of choice to a CD and install.

why not build your own dream machine PC so you have what you want, not a prebuilt pile of crap, then install windows xp, play all the games, use photoshop just as good, and if you really need osx, there is a free osx windows shell floating around that will make your pc look just like a mac, but have the components and compatibility of a pc, if thats your thing, I just use my own desktop shells and switch when bored. Mac sucks!

DavidTL, you also need to hack the mac to be able to add a very good video card and more than 512 MB of RAM. Finally, the Intel Core 2 Duo is fast, but not the best gaming processor. It's a technical thing. In conlcusion, macs sux 4 gamz.

sounds like you have no clue what your talking about. No hack needed for video card upgrades in amchines that are upgradable. No hack will upgrade them in non-upgradable macs. Also there is no 512mb ram limit in any way on Macs made for many many years. And the C2D is the best processor available for gaming. You must be some AMD fan that has no idea how it works.
