  • Stephen Fry's one weakness: incorrect information.

  • ryan was good, but half of his questions weren't in theme. but didn't they say of the acropolis where the Parthenon is?

  • @preciousfreakydarlin Brilliant QI reference - one of the greatest moments ever

  • @justinisking13 i know, right? I'm so surprised they didn't leave in it in the regular episode.

  • Only show that I prefer the American to the British version. Clive is impersonal as a host and buzzer-happy.

  • Ryan will aways be the pro of improvisation comedy. As adooooorable as Stephen Fry is.

  • LOL at Stephen getting confused because the Parthenon is in Athens...

  • Is it obvious?

  • Is it just me, or is Clive making Stephen more uncomfortable? I feel like he's being picked on when he's not too comfortable in the show to begin with.

  • That line about the Parthenon was good..... :)

  • Maybe the best episode of Whoe Line.

  • Am I the only one who thinks that Clive loves that buzzer a little too much??

  • Are you going to the Parthenon tonight?" "could we explain that the Parthenon is in Athens?" Love him

  • I started to watch these UK episodes cuz I'm starting to run out of american episodes to watch. And to be honest I think I'm also starting to like the UK version more.

  • BBC America? Is this an oxymoron I see there?

  • STEPHEN FRYYY

  • As much as I love Stephen Fry...Ryan OWNED in this one. His questions are so natural, and move the story along. Stephen's questions are clever by themselves, but clunky in-dialogue.

  • Hilarious that Fry speaks in latin!

  • I bet Josie Lawrence will never forget where the Parthenon is now. ;-)

  • An attempt at some Stephen translation:

"Nonne bonum caelum est?" "Isn't the sky good?"

On the second one, he could either be referring to the day or the game:

If the day: "Sic semper haec uiguit?" "Has it always been this wonderful?"

If the game: "Sic semper haec huic huic?" "Does it always come to this?"

    Either way, they're rough translations.

  • "What the hell are you talking about?" @1:50-1:59

  • You can guess when the episode was first aired by measuring colins hairline.

  • Partheton in Athens, very nice. What do they say about the Akropolis, where the Parthenon is anyway?

  • 5 ppl were ryan's family.

  • pizza delivery in Ancient Rome...LOLOL

  • argh !, british accent is sometime rocket science 4 an asian like me

  • V humanes est brutii

  • 5 people didn't know the Parthenon was in Athens.

  • Wow... That host speaks A LOT and FAST.

  • I love Stephen Fry so much. So, so much!

  • Stephen Fry is brilliant!

  • Colin defeated Stephen Fry! XD

  • HAHA Stephen got 12 points. More than anyone else.

  • @xFallensk8er420x

    What about Australians?

  • Thumbs up if you clicked this just to see Stephen Fry.

  • Et Tu Brute?

  • I think the uk version is so dry.... like.. alot of those could have been plausible questions and he buzzed them out, or if they took a bit to answer. like... i don't like the uk version... yucky.. maybe if ryan colin greg and chip were there :P

  • Why were Colin and Ryan on both the American and English versions? Did they start off on the English one and then the American one was created and they moved over to that? Or is there just no reason?

  • @KidsWithGuns1992 you got it!

Ryan and Colin and Grag and Chip ( i think, and I think brad) all started in England, when the show was droped after ten years Ryan and Colin and Drew Carrie started it in the US.

  • @Tamashi88 Yes, Brad did start on the British version. Wayne Brady did as well (although he wasn't on until the last few seasons).

  • 2:18 And I shall make a British asshole appear!!

  • This host hardly gives them time to think.

    How annoying.

  • why is everyone obsessed with stephen fry? Yes he's clever, but way too snobby and arrogant ....

  • i nearly cam when i saw fry and collin talking

  • wow.. stephen fry talking to colin mochrie, my eyes are watering with joy..

  • ..Colin is scottish..! ..but raised in Canada..

  • this show was still on at the same time as the telletubbies??

  • I'm a Canadian teenager who now lives in Belgium after studying in the States for the past two years and recently have visited England. I find it ironic that they reference all four of my favourite countries in the opening minute.

  • @Shaedle where in belgium

  • @soullesplain Near Mons. Why?

  • @Shaedle nothing i live in belgium too so :p

  • @soullesplain Haha, fly. Flemish or French?

  • @Shaedle flemish

  • stephen fry!

  • Difficult English and Latin in "Julius Caesar" with Latin more memorable with "E Tu Brute"

  • Comment removed

  • Could've said Isn't the Parthenon in GREECE because GREECE and ROME are the distinction from history lessons

  • would u like to buy an atlas?

  • STEPHEN FRY IS THE BEST PERSON ON THE PLANET

  • It would of been amazing if Stephen Fry was on the US version. Even though it wasn't censored it was a lot more rude.

I still enjoy the UK version since a lot of people don't watch this and it is gold!

  • And for his trouble Stephen only gets XII points!

  • Sad that they have to dumb down any British show when they bring it to the US. This country is in so much trouble.

  • @ajrothBU09 How do you mean, 'dumb it down'? As in humours or game types or what exactly?

  • @ajrothBU09 well Brits are smart and lack the enthusiasm and the Americans have a lot of enthusiasm and well you can see where i am going with that.

  • @besayewich Funny that anyone claiming to hold an upper hand in intelligence would even jokingly insinuate that one's intelligence can be glaned per their nationality, when anyone with a speck of wisdom knows that such questions need to be taken on an individual basis.

  • is it just me or was stephen in v for vendetta

  • @cooliovasquez

Yeah, he was the TV guy who gave the girl refuge

  • @cooliovasquez

    Nooooooooooo. Really?!?

  • I think the American version is better

  • i hate that ring

  • To bad 2 minutes of this was just them listening to them selves talk and not actually game play.

  • @2112murphy I think only three times. This was the last one. He was also in third and tenth episode in first season. :)

  • Not all North Americans have only known of Mr.Fry since Bones. I would watch Jeeves and Wooster, Black Adder, and A Bit of Fry and Laurie countless times. He is so wonderful, especially alongside Hugh Laurie.

  • @HessKarma I used to be obsessed with both Blackadder and ABoFL, nobody else has ever heard of them xp He is hilarious though =]

  • @HessKarma HELLO CONTROL!!!

  • Wow I didn't know that Colin and Ryan played on the British version of the show! Haha, this is the first UK snippet I've seen.

  • It's sad that us North Americans only know Stephen Fry from Bones, he's absolutely hilarious

  • They also say that Africa is a continent.

  • Clive Anderson is funny and witty, but he is so damn long-winded. At least he's sexy.

  • "Could you explain to her that the Parthenon is in Athens?"

    Oh SNAP!

  • Stephen Fry: the famous visitor of belgium since hilter xD

  • hey!, the actor off bones =D

  • its not as funny as the us version.

  • i miss drew D:

  • wow...would you look at ryan's hair...

  • Colin is probably the best I think, theyre all great though

  • stephen fry is amazing, just cant stand the host.

  • @JakerO4 My thoughts exactly

  • I <3 Steven Fry

  • What does Stephen say in latin??

  • I love stephen fry, but he seemed a bit pretentious here

  • really? that's too bad. I always thought he was a cool bloke

  • @farizzal

He isn't always pretentious; only when it serves whatever he's doing at the time.

I suspect kadjrare just mistakes intelligence for pomposity.

  • drew carry was more funny and a better host

  • @FinalXProductions but he sometimes kills the jokes

  • 2:07 lol!

  • So I've been wondering ever since I saw V for Vendetta a few years back where I've seen this guy, but I always forgot to IMDB him. Then I saw his face on one of the video links and immediately remembered his name, and how awesome he was on this show!

  • A+ to Fry for accuracy, and good humor.

  • Lols at Fry being way cleverer than everyone else.

Not to mention absolutely beautiful <3

  • Fry is way too good for this show

  • So very typical of Stephen: sacrificing himself for the advancement of public knowledge.

(They say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is...)

  • "Can I write it down...?"

  • He was more flabbergasted it seemed to come up with a quick reply

  • @DragonSporks .."He's gonna say! He's gonna say!!"

  • @DragonSporks I heart your QI reference. That must have been one of the best episodes ever. XDD

  • @DragonSporks Rofl. Yes.

    Plus, that line is immortal.

  • @DragonSporks

So epic of you to bring that up dude. Gotta love QI

  • @DragonSporks Haha, brilliant QI reference ;)

  • @DragonSporks

What do they say? I never was able to figure it out...Stephen was laughing too hard...

  • man clive is soooo much funnier than drew

  • what have you been smoking? clive isn't even funnier than dick cheney!

  • Clive is merciless with that buzzer isn't he?

  • hat funny i was just think, man he has no mercy with that buzzer,

  • Hey, so which show was first? The English or american? Because this one i british, right?

  • Yes, this one is British and the British version was first

  • @euos80 thanks; I suppose it's normal that americans rip off :P

  • The Americans didn't rip it off - both shows have the same producers. The Brits brought the show to the U.S.

  • @adaseth British one was first

  • The UK version came first. [1988, and when it finished in 1998 the US started airing a version.] :) Colin has more hair than he does in the US version and they all look younger too.

  • That's probably because they were younger when they filmed this. ;)

  • Holy shit, Stephen Fry <3

  • holy shit,that's josie?in the american version,she's got a bit...bigger :P

  • ryan was born in vancovour but grew up in america, and colin was born in scotland but grew up in canada

  • Actually Ryan was born in Seattle to Canadian parents and move back to Canada when he was 10.

  • The Parthenon always brings Stephen out of step.

  • There are no straight lines!

  • 'The say of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is'?

    That had me in stitches.

  • @Anonymous881326 Wtf is a Parthenon!?

  • haha

     nice

  • 3:23 - typical Stephen Fry...genius!

  • gah Ryan looked so sexy at 2:52

Why must he be more than twice my age, oh why???

  • I think the first line is 'nonne bonum caelum est' which translates 'isn't this good heaven?'. The second bit, 'sic semper haec huic huic' translated idiomatically as 'must it always return to this?'. Correct me if I have made an error! Vive Fry!

  • Mmm, I love Stephen Fry.

  • two brits a canuck and a yank. now thats a party!

  • and I wanna join in

  • And the set up to a joke.

  • two brits and two canucks, you mean.

  • Stepeh ENG

    Joesie ENG

    Ryan USA

    Colin CAN

  • Actually:

    Stephen ENG

    Joesie ENG

    Ryan CAN

    Colin CAN

Ryan and Colin hold Canadian citizenship (Ryan parents are both Canadians as well) and both lived in Canada for their teens and got their starts in Canadian comedy troupes before getting jobs on this show.

Although Colin has joint Scottish (where he was born before his parents emigrated to Canada) and Ryan has joint American (because his parents were living in Seatle when he was born)

  • @GDFullOn yea making him American cause he was born in Seattle. If you are born in america and then move to britan when your 10 normally your still considered american

  • Actually Ryan is American and Colin is Scottish.

  • Actually both Ryan and Colin hold Canadian citizenship. So technically they are both Canadian as well. Although Ryan hold joint American and Colin hold joint Scottish citizenship.

Colin moved to Canada @ 7, Ryan @ 10 (AND his parents are Canadians) They both got their career starts in Vancouver @ TheaterSports and then Toronto's Second City comedy troupe. So I would say that they would both be Canadian comedians.

  • I wasn't trying to say they aren't Canadian citizens but that they aren't Canadian's by birth.

By birth Ryan is American and Colin is Scottish. That's all I was trying to say.

Obviously some people disagree though because apparently I have some thumb downs 0.0

  • Ryan was born to Canadian parents and so has had Canadian citizenship since birth. The only thing that would make him American is the fact that his parents were working in America when he was born. And Colin spent most of his life in Canada barely even remembers Scotland.

Both of them spent most of the childhood they could remember and their early adulthood in Canada. They are Canadian.

  • According to NNDB Ryan Stiles is American.

  • is stephen fry taller than ryan?

    omfg

  • No, he is just standing on the step...

  • that there are no straight lines? :D

  • can u explain the parthenon's in athens?

    LOVE STEPHEN FRY!!

  • what year was this? jx

  • Four of my favourite people ever!

  • God, I love Stephen Fry!

    Love Josie Lawrence too.

  • "Did you order a pizza?"

  • 'could you explain to her that the parthenon is in athens'

    LOL! ouch.

& I actually knew what fry was saying in latin! yeah for me =D

  • oh oh oh please tell us!

I hope to study it one day, but there are so many damned things I want to study and I only have a handful of decades left.

  • Neither my friends nor myself can tell what the first latin thing he said was, sorry. I'll keep trying to figure it out. He pronounced the words a bit differently from myself.

The second was: thus always in this, in this

The third was: and you, Brutus?

The points he got was: XII = 12 points

  • i think the first statement may translate as:

is it not a good dog?

but the pronunciation of canis is a bit off there, so perhaps it is something else. alas.

  • Huh, that might be it.

His pernounciation of Latin is different from mine. It was hard to find Latin words that matched what he said. My friend and I eventually just gave up on the first line.

  • "pernounciation"? try learning English eh? :P

  • after watching Ryan and Colin on the American version, and seeing Stephen in other British comedies, it is so BIZARRE to see them all together. Awesome, though.

  • I loved the British version of this show.

I had high hopes when I heard they were bringing it to the US, but that was shattered into a million pieces rather quickly.

thank God for the internet though :D

  • Parthenon in Athens! lol

  • I don't get that one...?

  • they have ancient rome :D and parthenon is in athens :D

  • ryans eyes are so small :D

    epicness

  • Sorry to hear that you're sick. Or were sick, since you're probably better by now. Unless you died, in which case never mind.

  • The humour is ever so slightly different. You're just not used to it. I feel the same about the US version. Too over teh top for me. But it is funny to some people. And vice versa

  • Not laughing at Stephen Fry ??!

    On Whose Line ?!!

    Please see a doctor.
