  • Really a presence that's hard to take your eyes off! And a very nice voice. Talented and sexy. Today's actresses got it all wrong. Appeal is not how easily and how much you show. They could learn a lot from Joi, who knew what she had and how to make it work. Some things should be left to the imagination.

  • my name is linda brown. joi lansing was my aunt. i was 10 when she pasted away, her half brother is my father, robert brown. i herd alot about her growing up. i wish i got a chance to get to know her. i live in slc, utah.

  • According to folkore that buxom blonde lived in our house in Laurel Canyon. Our neighbor, who was a kid at the time, said she used to take him on sets with her and babysit. He said she loved the house and after she died, he'd smell her perfume. Considering she died in Santa Monica, I didn't think ghosts could travel that way. I do know that a couple of people have seen a ghost in our house. Not me. And I'm glad. I'd feel too intimidated and frumpy.

  • A truly beautiful woman in the best sense of the word. She was a wonderful talent. Gone all too soon.

  • she played supermans wife in the 50s...mr.x itwas called...one of the blonde bomb shell of the 60s...hour glass figure.just like all the sexy blondes of that era

  • Ah, this made my putter flutter, and I don't even PLAY golf!

  • PRECIOSA VOZ

  • Unfortunately breast cancer finally got her August 7 th 1972

  • ahhhhhhh yessssss......their all natual, no plastics added......to bad she was a morman kook.

  • Wow ... yet again .. but still true. Man ... very under rated for such a body and looks.

  • I think I met her at a Star Trek convention many many years ago when I was young. Nice lady.

  • WOW! Ok, it's been said a few times...she's hot!

  • WOW! That's all I can say!

  • She was wonderful in "The Beverly Hillbillies".

  • wow this is so damn hot!

  • I read somewhere that when she was dying of cancer she was alone and broke. Frank Sinatra paid all of her hospital bills.

  • She was great on Love That Bob. What a beauty. Too bad she died so young.

  • She was one of the first nutritionist/health advocates on talk shows...late in her career

  • what a beauty!!!!

  • I was stunned by Joi L as a young man; I always was under the impression that she had silicon injections to 'enhance' her already stellar figure, and that was why she developed breast cancer. She was way too young to die, that's for sure. Any comments ??

  • @bangwezl Joi first appeared in the early 1950's you can check but I don't think silicon was used at that time to enhance.

  • @bangwezl Hmmnn.. Looking at her she was not all that special, she just had a very good makeup artist. Her figure was certainly nothing to write home about.

  • my mother was a haircolorist at larry mathews in the 60s and joi was a client of hers when she was in nyc.my mom adored her.

  • Man, I had completely forgotten about the beautiful Joi Lansing. Basically, I remember Joi from The Beverly Hillbillies back in the late Sixties. I do remember her untimely death. Nice tribute.

  • Great Tribute and very respectful. Joi was truly a wonderful human being and deserved much better. Class is spelled J-O-I

  • Today female talent is trash thanks to to those wonderful perverts who own the media.

  • @Nationsnotregimes YOU ARE SO RIGHT, Joi was sexy, but never trashy.

  • a true beauty and talent, just what the skinny, grissle girls today fall so short of, I wonder how madonna, britney etc ever thought they had anything compared to talented women like Joi?

  • She is a beautiful, glamorous woman. I love the classy look of the 50's and 60's babes.

  • She was really beautiful!!

  • my oldest brother was a prizefighter in the 60's. his name was Bobby Scanlon. He knew Joi and her husband. When Bobby took some time off from boxing because of an injury, Joi tried to find him some work as an actor. She was as nice as she was pretty.

  • She was my great grandmoher, I never got to meet her but, my grandmother says she was a great lady. ; )

  • What an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Woman...

  • Talented, too.

I remember hearing the news of her passing back in 1972, and I just thought the bile was going to come out of my mouth.

    R.I.P, Miss Lansing.

  • My Boss and I husband think I look like Joi.. I'm not really seeing it..

  • Great post. Joi was one of my favorites while growing up. Was she married to Lester Flatt in real life, as some of the posts have suggested? I always thought she just played Lester's wife in "The Beverly Hillbillies."

  • Thank you!

For more details, you should visit her memorial online (see my notes).

  • Joi was not married to Lester Flatt. Her husband was Stanley Todd.

  • @Rollin558 No, she wasn't married to Lester Flatt in real life. But I think her name in "Hillbillies," Gladys, was the given name of Flatt's real wife.

  • Stunning!!! No body looked like her!!! stunning!!!

  • I remember watching her on television in

the 1950's as a young boy and thinking I really like her! Wow, she was beautiful and classy at the same time. They don't make them like that anymore.

  • with out a doubt the best chest

of all time....i was a big fan

    back in the 50's

  • To the best of my knowledge, Joi had no children of her own. She was married three times and it's possible one of those men had previous children.

  • You're right. Actually I discovered that Rachel Lansing is Rachel Hunter, Joi's best friend. They were very close and lived together, and finally Rachel took the name of her friend.

  • Was she ever married? Kids?

  • Visit the site that her daughter built about her (see my notes).

  • Joi was a wonderful and talented actress, and Rachel deserves credit for putting the site together. However, she is not Joi's daughter, for in fact she had no children.

  • Wasn't she her adopted daughter?

  • I don't believe so. I've never found a reference to her having had children, adopted or otherwise. Probably just a coincidence or someone who "adopted" the name in tribute to Joi.

  • she was married to Lester Flatt of Flatt and Scruggs (Beverley Hillbillies themesong) she was in some of the shows as his wife.

  • If you watch beverley hillbillies episode caled "Pearl,Pearl,Pearl", you will see Joi when she was married to Lester Flatt. Just one of many appearances on the show.

  • what a fab job youve done here with these pics-i have seen her everywhere on old tv shows-and you just say wow!!--what apity monroe, mansfiels and van doren had that style. look and acting sowed up-she couldve been as big as monroe--thanks for the bio -on the side-extremely beautiful woman-and this post--

  • A talented lady ..we lost her far too young from breast cancer in 1972.

She was versatile, beautiful and had comedic talents as Gladys Flatt in The Beverly Hillbillies..sadly missed.

  • Wow! This is a great performance of this song. Did Joi make any albums? If not, she should have.

  • I knew Joi Lansing and she was beautiful inside as well. We miss you dear heart.

    Mamiex

  • Joi Lansing, I had forgotten about her. In my view, she is not fat; her legs, hips, and waist are trim and this is long before silicone so that is 'good' fat. She looks outstanding.

  • What is really ironic is her body. By today's standards, Ms. Lansing would be considered fat.

  • If i were asked to pick the sexiest of all the fifties & sixties sexpots, i would choose Joi Lansing. She had a killer body as well as being extremely beautiful.

  • Classy, sexy...the whole package. An Elvgren girl, for sure!

  • I'll second that!

  • She's beautiful not just sexpot-ish.

  • Va Va Va Voom!
