@the999zombie the thing about kuyt is, he's not a winger, and he's being forced to play as one in a team that desperately needs a real winger or two. i've always thought he was much better as a striker who holds the ball up and gets players involved. and he is a good finisher if we have decent providers (which is the problem at the moment). i think some players haven't been shining because they haven't been put in the most favorable positions they could be in.
@the999zombie take charlie adam, for example. he's a good player, but he's an atacking midfielder and defending has never been his forte. he's being asked to fill lucas's shoes on occasion, which is just setting him up to fail. and imagine if he had good wingers, someone like valencia, to pick out with his signature diagonal balls. as for henderson, i think he was bought with gerrard's future retirement in mind and was not meant to be a star straight away.
i think just looking at the goals scored, you can see whats the biggest problem about Andy Carroll. He's known for his aerial ability, but all of his goals(except 1) have been scored with his feet. The service is just not right for him

@theledgebox360 andy will come good, he just needs time and proper service, basically he needs the football stuck to his head and then all he needs to do is run across the goal line, he is the best player ive ever seen, messi, rooney, suarez, villa etc are no where near as good as Carroll. He just needs time, you watch, he will become the best striker ever!

@the999zombie if we can land a good winger or two who can cross the ball i think we'll see his form dramatically improve. henderson is very young and has shown signs of potential, you can't expect him to be a superstar immediately. look what happened to lucas: everyone wanted to sell him, and he because arguably our most valuable player up until his injury.

@10YNWA10 Henderson is showing no signs of talent , he has to justify the 20 million , also Daglish is being an idiot and not looking outside the UK for some serious players and not potential. Also after watching todays performance we need to buy better players and need to get rid of Carroll , we need another torres. someone who can score goals regularly

@the999zombie its easy to see that we aren't scoring goals and say the finishing is the problem, but the real problem IMO is that our crosses and final balls have been shit. i think gerrard will begin to change that, but we need wingers who can consistently put in good crosses. also, adam needs to be playing attacking cm, because he is good on offense but can't defend. maybe 4-3-3?
also, kuyt hasn't been given much chance at striker, where i think he is much better than outside mid

@the999zombie i dont think kuyt is finished, he was treated unfairly imo being put behind henderson. every other year he has been consistently good. we also have carroll who will get better if we get wingers, and bellamy who has been fantastic. i think we should focus the funds on getting a good, reliable winger or two. the defense has been great all season, everyone is entitled to an off day once in a while.
but downing...idk about him. crossing has to get better if he wants to stay

@10YNWA10 Sorry Kuyt hasn't scored a good goal for a long time , we need someone with some pace. Let me give you an example of potential , Oxlade-Chamberlain and if you watched his performance today that was money well spent. Not Henderson or Carroll but ill give them time and see what happens

@the999zombie the thing about kuyt is, he's not a winger, and he's being forced to play as one in a team that desperately needs a real winger or two. i've always thought he was much better as a striker who holds the ball up and gets players involved. and he is a good finisher if we have decent providers (which is the problem at the moment). i think some players haven't been shining because they haven't been put in the most favorable positions they could be in.

@the999zombie take charlie adam, for example. he's a good player, but he's an atacking midfielder and defending has never been his forte. he's being asked to fill lucas's shoes on occasion, which is just setting him up to fail. and imagine if he had good wingers, someone like valencia, to pick out with his signature diagonal balls. as for henderson, i think he was bought with gerrard's future retirement in mind and was not meant to be a star straight away.

i think just looking at the goals scored, you can see whats the biggest problem about Andy Carroll. He's known for his aerial ability, but all of his goals(except 1) have been scored with his feet. The service is just not right for him
