@csklamar Technically, the movie cannot be classified as a "Hip Hop" film seeing as the plot is not about hip hop, but in retrospect it is. The films general praise comes from its highly stylized "noir-like" visual design and cinematography, which is seen in the majority of Hype Williams HIP HOP music videos. The movie is also very popular among HIP HOP audiences. So ya, it is sort of a hip hop film

@csklamar actually you convinced me it is a hip hop film, because of the cinematography n its told like a musical indirectly most of the songs are sung by the stars as in a musical and dmx lyrics often narrate certain scenes as the opening of "i sold my soul to the devil the price was cheap, its cold on this level, n its twice as deep" or when he pledges his allegiance to nas and i quote "when it rains niggas get wet, stay dry"
