Amazing as usual - this is Mark O'Connor and he will be in HISTORY books - he has now composed a ton on songs. Look on his site - he has played CLASSICAL just as well as this fiddle background, jazz - all of it - he is the only violinist/fiddler I have every studied who can do it all. Check out his MIDNIGHT ON THE WATER that sounds like the classical artist, Pagannini. He has written symphonies now, a fiddle method like Suzuki, and plays all over New York in between being an amazing composer
Those of us who know Mark know exactly who he is, I spent a10 years on the road with James Taylor (as Valerie Carter's business manager) and was fortunate enough to have been befriended by Mark, I remember at one point him saying he might just quit touring and go and play street corner gigs with street musicians for the "experience'"..That;s what you call "unaffected and when I say "befriended" I don't mean FB "friends'
On Brent Mason's instruction tape, he says that he doesn't have any trouble with speed because he plays everything with "steel guitar rolls" -- i.e. thumb pick & two fingers. You can see that here when he takes his choruses.
One of my favorites back when I used to watch this show had Suzy Bogus, singing her heart out between Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed! Omg talk about fun music. I miss shows like American Music Workshop, and still can't believe "the powers to be" replaced THE NASHVILLE NETWORD with the crap being broadcast over that channel today.
Thank God for vids like this on You Tube and my records & tapes.

@qbeam No its not reversed its to give the appearance of being inside a "music shop" its imitating a store front from the inside.

I remember watching every week... super players all!
But I seem to remember Harry Stinson on drums a lot
and Glen Worf being the main bassman,
maybe Roy Huskey Jr. sometimes too?
Anyway, I wish we had a show like this today.
