  • Watched this about a year ago, spent about an hour trying to find it now. I was just on the verge of completely giving up (I remembered your name andy....that was it) and there you were! I'm glad I kept looking, this tune is beautiful. In favourites now!

  • Excellent work, Andy!

(...I had no idea that you played!...)

    Sincerely,

    Bill McBirnie

  • sounds like Kaki King but with more slide. very nice work, dude.

  • brilliant this is so nice - i am new to playing a slide and u have just inspired me with this one thanks a lot :)

  • Neat. Almost sounds like actual steel guitar. Reminiscent of a dobro.

  • Whoa. That was incredible man. I've gotta know how you've got the strings tuned!

  • Thanks! The tuning is DADEAD (low to hi) which forces you to use the slide to make the major 3rd. For example, when you strum the open strings, and then slide on the third string to the second fret, it creates a D major chord. It makes it sound a bit like a lap steel.

  • Nice use of multiple camera angles and zoom-ins.

  • Stunning piece of music.Loved it!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite videos of all time. Truly inspirational

  • Thanks! I really appreciate that.

  • hey andy,

firstly i love your piece, sounds awesome.

i just have one question though, im wanting to start playing, and i was just curious on some tips in converting a guitar to slide??

    thanks heaps

    keep up the good work!

  • Hey Jarrod - glad you enjoyed the tune! My setup on the Martin is simple - I just raised the strings with a Hawaiian-style guitar nut, that just sits on top of the regular nut (it's held in place by the pressure of the strings). I left the height the same at the bridge, in case I want to switch it back. A guitar repair shop should have one of the Hawaiian nuts (ha, that sounds funny).

    Cheers,

    Andy

  • Hope to get there someday......thanks man

  • I still love this tune.

  • Great tone!

  • Wouah!!!! Cool!

    Very nice tune!

Thanks for sharing this with us!

    Cheers from Paris,

    Chris

  • Amazing composition!

If you had a violin player in the background accenting the melody, this would be beautiful!

  • crazy action ! o.o! bravo!

  • Nice! Got into playing Kelly Joe after I literally dropped my guitar, walking out of Baylee's in Blacksburg, Va. after an open mic. night, when the owner popped in "Shine-eyed Mr. Zen." Once you set up a guitar like that ... you can't go back! (Okay, that's a lie. But lap-slide is huge fun.) Keep on playing.

  • amazing.. this is sick

  • Beautiful.

  • This is such great playing, do you have a tab for this Untitled?

  • yeah great playing

  • Very nice piece, although I guess it would sound better on a real slide guitar.

  • yess great, this is badass!!!!

  • very nice timbre

  • Very pretty.

    Thanks.

  • thats brillient

    amazing playing dude

  • I've been viewing this piece for a couple of months. It's very good. Any chance you could put it into a downloadable audio file (mp3 or something)? You're very talented.

  • Glad youre enjoying the piece. I'm planning on recording this song on my next album, sometime this fall. I'll certainly post mp3s when it's finished.

  • i look forward to that. another ? What type of finger picks to you use. they look like they come over your nails rather than under your finger.

  • They're called Alaska Picks. I use medium size, and cut off one band (they come with two, but taking one off makes them lighter and less obtrusive.)

  • thanks.

  • the most beautiful way to exhibit a beautiful sound.

  • oh and tuning? your the best

  • The tuning is DADEAD (low to high). Cheers, A.

  • tab please? or just fret positions? i love you

  • Nice playing and excellent sound !

  • beautiful playing, but this is STEEL guitar (played with a steel) The title says slide; guitar is held vertical, spanish style, and some fingers press down on frets, and often a SLIDE is slipped over the little finger.

  • Erroneous distinction, steel is a kind of slide. All that makes it slide is that something other than the frets is used to make the notes. You're right that this is steel, but it's still slide. Some early bluesmen used knives, would you say that was a different kind of playing and call it knife? Of course there are major technical differences between playin lap steel and 'normal' slide, but they are similar enough to fall into the same category

  • amazing

  • beautiful!!

  • great stuff

  • Beautiful & Inspiring...

  • it changed a little from the previous recording which I loved.

  • Ok, i subscribe....

  • Really like it. Very smooth indeed. Between players like yourself and Kelly Joe Phelps I'm beginning to see how slide guitar can open up new musical horizons for me. Keep it up!
