Saw this in the theater when I was a kid.I was really into comic books then. Can remember being disappointed with the film, but I still had a good time. Of course most comic book movies and tv shows were very disappointing back in the 70's and 80's.

Noone that remarks that it's actually the first movie adaptation of an Alan Moore story? How does it stand up beside V For Vendetta, Watchmen, From Hell, and The League?

No way. this is not a movie adaptation of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. This is based (loosely) on the original Swamp Thing comic series. Alan Moore didn't start writing Swamp Thing until issue 20 of "Saga of Swamp Thing."

The first issue of "Saga of Swamp Thing" was printed the same year this movie came out, but Alan Moore wasn't even writing it then.

In the movie sequel, "Return of Swamp Thing," there are some references to the Alan Moore story arc, but it's not based on his series.
