Basketball is simple, if you can't move fluently, you can't play basketball. How you move would depend on how well you play; if you're very athletic and young, more likely you will have higher potential, because you can always work on your game. Genes bring you along the way for higher level of basketball, and there's always going to have a higher level of basketball no matter where you go; therefore there will be people stronger than you, and more than likely they'll be better shooters like Ray
That boy had a great jump shooting posture. He releases the ball smoothly. I was a great shooter but since I started to lift weights because its a part of our training routine, I have noticed that i wasn't accurate in shooting than before. So I made a routine that after i lift weights I would shoot 20 free throws and 10 jump shots. Maybe this will help my shooting. What do you think? If you have any other ideas please inform me. Thank you! Godbless. ^^,
Repetition. Weight training kills your jump shot, not kidding.
The only thing is, don't try to gain strength or get too much in a short span of time. Spread it out longgg. Therefore you might have the change of repeatedly getting comfortable with your shot, yet getting stronger. And since there isn't a huge amount of change in strength, it shouldn't be a problem.
an awesome way to strengthen your shooting and dribbling is by dribbling a basketball (either hand) high above your head against a wall. It's such a good exercise that weight training won't matter.
The best way to become a better basketball player is to make your game well-rounded. If you have glaring weaknesses, make them strengths. And same goes for strengths too, if you already are strong in an area of your game, make it even better and more consistant that way you'll be fundamentally and athletically sound
Nice, but he should try to maintain the dribble with one, shoot the first ball, immediately retrieve the next ball and shoot that. Dribble and shoot. He can commit to passing exercises in another workout.
nice drill, if i was young i would practice that drill everyday to improve my ball handling, but i still have a crazy jumper, and my money shot, the three pointer, its won me countless games, i think people dont realize how quick you can get back into a game by hitting just a few three pointers.
focus on being a basketball player not a ball handler or shooter whats the point of just shooting with no handles, or being broke as fuck and all handles. practice everything.
You have to take the time to practice different skills. Drills develop specific skills and practice puts them together. A game requires you to apply what you've learn. You can't play a game and learn how to shoot a ball at the same time.
Oh and btw, passing is equally as important as handling and shooting the ball. Good passes shouldn't be overlooked.
handling isn't important if you go by a three way offense, all you need in my opinon is passing, shooting, strength, expolosiveness and speed. A couple of finishing moves would be good too.
Exactly as poor ball handling skills tends to translate to tougher d by the opponent and and more turnovers that benefit the other side. The more turnovers you give up the higher the chances of easy fast break points or cheap fouls trying to stop the easy buckets. It snowballs as it puts you in a whole early and then you have to force shots to get back to even. It is all part of the same thing.
neather is more important..thats what separates peja from mcgrady paul pearce and lebron and kobe..they are all ball handlers along wit shooters..any basketball player that can shoot of the dribble and drive to the hole and have all those things to his game is dangerious
ball handling is easily more important...you are so much more useful than if you cant dribble at all...plus, shooting is easier to learn, handles opens up drives to the hoop/passing
haha theflash03 that's mean but this isn't all that hard...if you can't do this you HAVE to get your handle up i'm just barely trying to make my JV team and i don't think my handle is good enough
will lifting weights kill your shot? i play for the basketball team and im really skinny.

Handling is nice especially if your a gaurd though.
MyLegoEgo 2 years ago 6
matters what your position is. gaurds need handling and the frontcourt needs shooting more
