I think the line "I don't remember you looking any better, but then again I don't remember you." is a major turn off. The latter part of the sentence, makes the first part of the sentence sound even even more arrogant and patronizing. JM seems to have a heart of gold, but to me, he's missing a sensitivity chip....as evidenced, every now and then, in his lyrics. IE "a woman who doesn't deserve my love.". Hello...did I just hear right.?

I can tell that there are quite a few people commenting who never spent any time on the road as many recording artists do. That life is lonely, a blur of fans who want so much from what they attach to the music and the performer, managers who lay down all kinds of rules, PR people who thrive on digging up dirt from the past, etc. This song is a painful representation of what a person in that position often does to survive.

I think it's a fabulous song, which is why I learned to play it.
