  • @YouTubbingGeorge too late!

  • such an amazing and awe-inspiring performance, to say the least

i wish i could go to the '60's and '70's to see this, in addition to many other performances by rock legends

  • too bad it's a bit out of sync here. None the less, drums had never been played so powerfully before this

  • Where are four and five?!!

  • it seems Jimmy was really much more precise in his execution of leads and just all his performance in these early days, i also loved his tele sound, it just went so well w/ these sessions, i understand the famed "Stairway" lead/solo was done on the telecaster..it really cut through Plants vocals and had alot of mojo in those dayz..

  • ANYONE WHO SAYS JPJ SUCKS IS RETARDED, HAVE U EVER HEARD NO QUARTER? YES, JPJ RAPES U

  • @mcpmfloyd TRUE!!!!!

  • Bonhams killin' it. bless that man. RIP <3

  • we've all been dazed and confused since 1980

  • R.I.P. John, it's been 31 years, we miss you

  • Led Zeppelin rocking to 20 people

  • C'mooon, you must have a bad ear... JPJ goes wild a bit during the violin solo, but after that he's absolutely ok. You can blame it on Cream, anyway...;))

  • Jimmy Page mi fa impazzire...

  • What the hell is wrong with some of you? Who cares about all that negative shit you're saying, this is a great legendary song they performed and their style is amazing. Therefore, I thought this lost performance would have been a sick and legendary concert to see up front. Nice!

  • this is my favorite song ever it gives me chills!

  • where was this and what time?, i admit to knowing nothing

  • Robert Plant identifies the name of the song as "Dazed and Confused", but doesn't mention Jake Holmeswriting it.why?

  • Jimmy Page certainly gives a damn good 'bow job' !!! Rx

  • Cool video.. never liked the bow solo's... always sounded like just noise to me.

  • Eleven people don't like it ...

  • @hachinthebeat eleven people are idiots.

  • @hachinthebeat no shit.

  • Been DAZED,

of course when you listen to this

  • Listen carefully to Jonesy and Bonzo jam a tune while Pagey bows the guitar - Talent to the power of Zeppelin!!

  • They did do the songs better, though. Way better.

  • I think Led Zeppelin stole from a previous song from 1967 also called Dazed and Confused. They stole from 17 songs total and this one of them. I've listened to the songs that people say they've stolen from and it's sad to know one of your favorite bands stole from other artists. But Led Zeppelin are still my second favorite band of all time to this day.

  • @Jabasourus JP stole from Davey Graham...

  • @Jabasourus They weren't stealing; they were paying homage to the original artists.

  • those drum fills......just.......those drunm fills...

  • It's a real shame this audio is out of sync. Serious bummer, actually. I want to SEE Bonham playing the fills I'm hearing.

  • Wow, I love the arguments here. They're so much cleaner, so much better than the ____ SUCKS I LOVE ______. God, it's like they're 5 years old but with worse spelling and worse mouths

  • @Greenman422 Troll

  • @martyisokay agree

  • Sorry, but there's no better than hendrix

  • must be 11 deaf people who don't like this

  • who gives a shit anymore about all of the who was best bullshit? they were/are all great..... that being said, who can compare to bonzo? the best ever!! what a fucking maniac on the drum kit!! RIP big guy...

  • Just once we would all like to hear the original artists of these songs post their comments, and not the ones of us YouTube critics. They would explain new things for us to make up, but that isn't gonna happen. Same difference, right ?

  • thats just one of many person`s opion that work with both . Eddie Krammer who produced tons of hendrix stuff and zeppelin.Said theres no guitarist that doe`s it for me like hendrix. But then that`s his opion. point is there both f*cking great on different levels

  • 7:48 love the way page is looking at robert ! hahaha

  • Mr. Bonham is beating them drums like they stole something!

  • incredible talent assembled

  • the people watching were not sure what they were witnessing. This is very interesting thank you for posting.

  • i love these videos, but it kills me that the crowd is sitting indian style like three feet away from f-ing Led Zeppelin, like they are at some poetry reading

  • JPJ plays the bass riff like its nothing...

  • JOHN BONHAM!

  • JOHN BONHAM!

  • Poor JPJ, the part after the violin bow solo is really exhausting to play on bass.

  • @Orphen01 I learned the MSG '73 version note for note; its like Total Gym for Wrist & Fingers!!!!

  • @Orphen01 Yeah, I can keep that goin for like 30 seconds and then I need a nap

  • Really, really, really, REALLY GREAT SONG!!!

  • @goose098 your just a kid go listen to Cream live then come back and tell me what you think i think Zeppelin and Cream are both fantastic bands but why do we need to compare every mother fucking band all the god damn time!!! i guess you can say Zeppelin,Cream,Hendrix,Beck are all overrated just means they are the best simple as that!

  • @anthonyman88 dude thats bullshit Hendrix may have met page but he was never good friends with him i think you need to get your head out of your ass and read up on your stuff Hendrix and Clapton were good friends.

  • 7:59. is he saying send you to hell? or was it bed?

  • I hope to Kashmir that I'm not the only one who watches this at least 4 times a week

  • Clapton hated Hendrix because he was jealous and Page and Hendrix were friends But in my opinion Clapton is overrated and hes a tool

  • @anthonyman88 wtf are you smoking? clapton had nothing but total respect for hendrix. in nearly all of the hendrix documentaries clapton is always in them praising hendrix as a genius just like the rest. yes he was jealous but who wasn't? and clapton is far from a tool or overated. he blows me away.

  • @kermicheo bringing up documentaries is absurd. Hendrix is dead. Everyone will praise him. Simple case of someones legend growing due to the death of the artist. He was very overrated, was a technically poor player. Most of his "big" performances came in front of stoned listeners who wouldnt know if he messed up or not...and his errors were attributed to "creativity". He is not in the same class as Page, Clapton or Beck as a guitarist

  • @pmdnyc amazing. I thought the exact same thing you did. but hey, either you get it or you dont. and you are one of the few who dont. but there are millions who do get it. fortunately I was one of the ones like them who wanted to understand hendrix's music so I put away my thick headedness and gave jimi a chance. and buddy, I got some of the absolute best hours of my entire life. more than page, clapton, and beck put together. but im not bagin on yur top3 like u ar w/ mine. P, C, & B are awesome

  • @kermicheo I am not bagin on your top 3...I never said that I didnt enjoy hendrix..I dont think that Claptons comments in a documentary mean anything, because it is exactly that...a documentary. First of all you are getting the producers opinion, and nobody would say a negative thing about a dead man. and "getting it" is purely a matter of taste, not fact. In my opinion, you dont "get it" that hendrix is not in the same league as page, clapton or even Beck. but peace and enjoy them all.

  • Respond to this video...my "thickheadedness" results for 35 years of playing and listening. I have a vast library of some of the greatest musicians who ever played. So please keep the insults to your self. I am entitled to my opinion, you are entitled to yours. Neither opinion makes either of us thickheaded.

  • Clapton hated Hendrix because he was jealous and page and Hendrix were friends But in my opinion Clapton is overrated and hes a tool

  • @anthonyman88 overrated by whom ? some the best and most successful players agree he is great . And also EC and Jimi Hendrix were friends and colleagues , no animosity existed between them .Jimi loved the Cream and all of ECs bands and EC , like evryone else , was in awe if Jimi.

  • Cream can only dream about what it would be like to be as talented as Zeppelin.

  • @goose098 I love Zeppelin...but before you start putting down other bands, check out this..type this into youtube...LED ZEPPELIN EXAMPLES OF PLAGIARISM.... then consider if you should ever slam another band again.

  • @goose098 This is beyond stupid. Nobody posts on this video anymore, but I've got to respond. Clapton is, in my opinion, better than Page. Again, that's me. He's cleaner. Page got sloppy at times. Clapton has such a feel for the instrument. I'm not saying Page doesn't, I just think Clapton plays and sounds cleaner. Bruce is arguably as good on the bass as JPJ, if not better. Bonham is far better than Baker, agreed. But Cream was supremely talented.

  • @meatwadisprez77 don't normally reply about comments but yours intrigued me.... im a huge led zep and cream fan, but have to disagree about a number of things (lol sorry i know its just different opinions). clapton ain't better than page, he's more consistent like you said but page is more creative. Bruce and JPJ are about equally great on bass but Bruce has very good voice too. I used to totally agree about the drummers but have grown to really love Baker's roving sound! Bonham was the man tho!

  • @smccoy101 I disagree about the Clapton vs. Page thing. On albums, Jimmy oftentimes sounds better. But Clapton is incredible on Layla and Other Love Songs. Live, for me, there's no comparison. Clapton unleashes. He's incredibly clean, and just uses the whole guitar better than anyone. Page, as much as I love him, oftentimes got sloppy, probably because of drugs, but still.

Regardless, this argument is lose/lose. Both are incredible guitarists, two of the best ever.

  • dude hes the worst bassist everhe has no idea whats going on in the beggining

  • @devilzgrip Lol, just stop talking..

  • @devilzgrip jones is bad??!! hol shit, did you just say that? try the immigrant song chorus to start and go next to the rain song...of course he also played keys/piano, mandolin and wrote and arranged all their strings...he was a brilliant bass player, I have never heard anyone say what you just said...ever. wow are you a fool

  • @sixsixxsixxxx also he wrote the riff for Black Dog.... so thats a pretty big deal.

  • @sixsixxsixxxx Not "was" a brilliant bassist, still "is", and he is master of 10 or 11 instruments. A truly gifted musician and a role model for any professional player, on top of being the driving force behind one history's greatest rock bands.

  • the drumming 7.03 onwards.... epic

  • bonham.... bonham, hope you've reached the end of your stairway to heaven.. u must've already realised you were god... god of drums

  • Not only one of the best rock pieces ever played, but also one of the best vids of Led Zeppelin. Dazed and Confused has always been one of my all time favorites.

One thing I can't help notice....the band is just "into" it all they always are, but this audience appears so jaded as hell. They just don't seem to move or budge an inch! Are they all coked up or what?

  • JPJ's playing is amazing during this. It's amazing how he can keep up with Page when he goes off on tangents like that

  • I LOVE THE WOMEN WHO INSPIRED ZEPPELIN TO MAKE MUSIC

  • Comment removed

  • clapton overrated dawg your fuckin nuts

  • @pinky003 He is, he isnt as good as everyone says

  • I feel like the 8 who disliked this did so because they got scared by Bonham at 1:11 through 1:14

  • Thumbs up if you love how Bonzo beats the fuck outta his drums.!

  • The song, "Dazed and Confused" is just a re-packaging of the song, "I'm Confused" by the Yardbirds, a band in which Jimmy was a member for a short amount of time.

  • @Karenfan09 so?the ''re-packaging'' is far better ;)

  • @ledzepguitarcovers I didn't say that it was not better than the original version....The group ripped off lot of riffs and styles from other blues artists and didn't even give them credit on their albums....That being said, I still think they are a GREAT Band but by looking at some of the comments on YouTube, some people think that they (Led Zeppelin) originally wrote those songs.

  • @Karenfan09 yes but even the blues artists ripped off from other blues artists, and these blues artists ripped from jazz.in blues you can borrow ideas, just like zeppelin did.because blues has a basic melody and from there you solo with guitar,it doesn't have to do with ''this is my riff'' or ''this is my melody'' because neither the blues artists gave credits :)

  • @ledzepguitarcovers Point taken.

  • @Karenfan09 which means?because i don't know much english

  • @ledzepguitarcovers means that your comment about blues artist is valid.

  • @Karenfan09 ok :D

  • @ledzepguitarcovers "Borrowing Ideas" is alot different than flat out ripping off songs..That is what Zep did. I suggest you youtube...LED ZEPPELIN EXAMPLES OF PLAGIARISM...to see what I mean. And I am a big Zep fan...Love their versions..But they ripped off alot of people and didnt even credit them until they were sued

  • @pmdnyc i don't disagree that they ripped off,but i don't care, because they did it better.i have seen the video you suggested, but as i said, they did it better and,in the end,the credit thing is about money,so,it's not my business to care about credits ;)

  • @ledzepguitarcovers I respect what you just said. I agree that Zeps versions were far better than the originals...and you say you dont care that they ripped people off. At least you can say that. The people here who are denying that they ripped off other artist music and presented it as their own are the wrong ones here. I respect your honesty.

  • @pmdnyc are you a copyright attorney or just a moral crusader ?I commend your noble cause . Set those Zepplein fans straight ! lol

  • @Cincinnatus1869 First of all, it is spelled "ZEPPELIN"...second of all, I am not a moral crusader. I just believe in giving credit where credit is due..you are probably not a musician or you would understand my point. As for Zeppelin, I am a big fan..I saw them in 1973 and 1977 and also saw Plant/'Page twice..You comment to someone seemed sarcastic so I commented on it..that all.

  • @pmdnyc . I believe in giving credit where its due also . It goes without saying , whether you are a musician or not ,( which I have been for 25 yrs ) . The songs they nicked were not obscure . Most serious rock fans and certainly their musican peers knew where these songs came from . But the adulation and respect was always there anyway . Now everyone who watches the youtube vid about 'Zep and plagiarism' goes on like its some revelation , and act offended. Its just kind of ridiculous

  • Comment removed

  • @ledzepguitarcovers "Borrowing Ideas" is not the same as using someones entire song and not crediting them until you are sued....That is what Led Zeppelin did 17 times...look it up. I love the band, saw them in 1973 and 1977 and also saw page and plant twice, and many of their versions are way better than the originals. But the fact remains that they presented the compositions as their own, and they were not.

  • @pmdnyc everyone was doing it in those days man so chill out dude

  • @animalthedrummer666 What are you talking about? "everyone was doing it in those days"? NOBODY was stealing peoples material and calling it their own. Thats the issue, my friend. People have been using others material forever...Just credit them and pay the what they are due...Zep did not do that until they were sued. I have no idea what you are talking about "those days", obviously you are a kid who knows nothing of what he speaks. It was wrong thhen just as it would be wrong now.

  • @Karenfan09 really ? wow you really know something special .

  • @Cincinnatus1869 You better believe it !!!!

  • @Cincinnatus1869 Karenfan is 100 percent correct...Look it up

  • @pmdnyc who doesn't know that ?

  • @Cincinnatus1869 Apparently You didnt

  • @pmdnyc yea I knew it in 1970 and I know it now . get ahold of yourself

  • how could u not love john paul jones' playstyle?

  • I feel sorry for those drums....John just beat the hell out of them. Totally awesome performance.....Who plays like this anymore......anyone?

  • @datamata

Your answer as to who today can play the drums like the late, great John Bonham? That would be NO ONE! Not even close! I don' t truly believe that those in the audience when this was taped, (as it was previously posted on YT it was in March of '69) understood the sheer genius that they were listening to by the 4 legendary musicians that made up Led Zepplin! I love the girl seated in the middle with the dark hair in a pony tail and white blouse rocking her body back and forth.

  • I like Jimmy's guitar the best when he has the telecaster. Mostly because I started out on one haha.

  • Mr. Jones you have some serious groove, sir!

  • the crowd seems kinda lame , I would have been going freakin nuts

  • @MrTat91 So would I!!

  • @MrTat91 This looks 1968, when America and England were yet mostly in the calm, civilized eve before the famous era (misleadingly "Sixties" ; really, '69 thru later '70s) of psychedelic hippiedom: young people were still genteely, civilly stylish (Robert's hair is still short and pre-lightened, and his Edwardian suit sophisticated and dignified, not baring skin). And it was still a near universal cultural norm for audiences politely quietly and attentively to listen, not interrupt or join in.

  • (cont.) Also, this looks a small intimate arena. In that context, and with the music not yet so well known and of riveting, abstract artistry, the audience is absorbing it interiorly . . . as Plant himself does, and promotes in the audience.

  • @JudgeJulieLit Another issue was that many early Zep crowds were expecting to see a continuation of the Yardbirds...in fact Zeps early shows were billed as "the new yardbirds" so perhaps the people were not hearing what they expected when they entered the show,

  • @JudgeJulieLit This performance was filmed on March 17, 1969..it was broadcast on May 19,1969 for A a show called "Danmarks radio/Danish TV. It was rebroadcast on the BBC on New Years Eve 1989. It was officially released on a Led Zep DVD in 2003

  • It's not lost anymore ;)

  • genius...

  • Wow...

  • Roy Harper, who worked both with Hendrix and Page, said he prefers Page. There you have it; a professional musician who was in with em back then going against the default opinion. I think Page was the greatest, Beck the second. Clapton is overrated. And Hendrix...well it's a matter of opinion on styles...what Page played is Heaven to my ears...no one's better than him. This man's sonic signature is the greatest to my brain.

  • @willou901 CLAPTON OVERRATED? YEAH THE FUCK RIGHT ASSWIPE. CREAM INSPIRED BANDS LIKE LED ZEPPLIN. YOUR FUCKING RETARDED.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFigueroa007 You're*

  • @willou901 Who cares what Harper thinks ? Page is great guitarist , but Hendrix changed music forever, you're not comparing like for like , and as for Jeff Beck , well I know all these guys could be self-indulgent and pretentious, but his god-awful jazz-rock shit is the work of satan. (Jazz-Rock, two of the most horrifying words in the English language, along with simon cowell, anal warts, hip-hop, prog-rock and radio one.) Bollocks

  • @willou901

ok , first , music is no olympic disciplin , but i also think that page is nr.1 , because of his BRILLIANT playing and of course because of 9 genial album with no fail , and because of bonham , plant and jones ,

and i was and always been a BIG hendrix fan too , because of 3 album with no fail song , he writes beauty music , and alone for " all along the watchtower" , what is also like heaven on ear , or the BRILLIANT version of hey joe , this song brought me to the guitar !!

  • @willou901 Calling Clapton overrated is , in my opinion, ridiculous. If anyone is overrated its Hendrix He is not half the technical expert Clapton is. I feel its a close call between Page and Clapton...a strong arguement can be made for either. Beck is up there also..

  • @pmdnyc as a guitarist who plays all kinds of music and has a ton of skill, I can attest that Clapton is immensely overrated on every level: creativity. skill. feel. Page and Hendrix and Beck all destroy Clapton.

  • @TouchingYou Telling me you are a guitarist with "tons of skill" only tells me that you THINK you are good. I have been playing for over 35 years and I wont make that boast. However, you are entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine. Jimi Hendrix is vastly overrated. Half his performances were sloppy due to excessive drug use. His technical errors were labeled as "creativity". He had a 3 year span where he caught the attention of drugged out fans...then he was gone.

  • @pmdnyc I think you misunderstood me. NO ONE thinks Hendrix is more overrated than I. He owes his entire career to Chas Chandler. I only like about 4% of Hendrix's BEST stuff. Most of it is just ordinary R&B cliches and he even stole 100% of his stage tricks. (He admits this. he was a nice guy. Also, it appears he actually committed suicide. 9 sleeping pills?! He was sick of the Machine and the sycophants.) But Clapton is really lame. Sad that he gets so much more credit than Beck.

  • @pmdnyc (Steve Howe is still one of my favorite guitarists. And Page had few skills but the guy was fantastic. I think he's UNDERRATED. His leads are shit, but his chords and rhythms are underrated. I always said HE was the drummer of Zep, not Bonham!)

  • @TouchingYou Nothing personal, But I never, in 35 years, met any musician who says about themselves 'I have tons of skill" and then proceed to put down a musician such as Clapton. In fact, in my experiences, the better the musician, the more modest they are. I agree that Beck is underrated..but thats all in the eyes, or the ears of the beholder. But the fact is that Hendrix is not even in the same league as Clapton as a musician or guitarist. Just my opinion.

  • @willou901 i agree that clapton is overrated, i think bb king, buddy guy, and jeff beck were all better, and then hendrix came around and page came out of the studio and they rocked the guitar like no one before them and chenged the freakin instrument

  • @willou901 i think page is a great guitarist fuk i think hes a god guitarist

    but Hendrix has he merits

i personally cant chose whose better because there both great

but its all a matter of opinoin

Clapton is a great guitarist we shouldt be hating on the godfathers of rock

they should all be credited with what they did

  • i think the only guitarist above page is wylde

  • I knew Jimmy used a bow with his guitar in the Yardbirds, but had no idea he used in with Led Zeppelin

  • was robert plant the one to do drugs first?

  • 8 people listen to little wayne and that justin beaver kid.

  • @Raifo92 Clever

  • lots of people talkin, few of them know. soul of a woman was created below....best line in the song and plant left it out:(

  • How much is john paul groovin at 5:12 on a scale of 1 to groove?

  • @jff0002 groovin like fuck

  • Best guitarrist ever+Best vocalist ever+Best drummer ever+Best bass player ever=Best band ever=Jimmy Page+Robert Plant+John Bonham+John Paul Jones= Led Zeppelin

  • 8 people voted that they dislike this song? Really? "Dazed and Confused" is only one of the greatest rock songs of all-time and this video is a gem. I would have loved to have been in the audience live as they were performing this in 1969. Then again I hadn't turned 12 at the time and probably would not have appreciated the pure genius of the 4 members of the group.

  • @jlmusicfan57 Those 8 people are just "Dazed and Confused"

  • @337camo Hold on man. Im dazed and confused... but I liked this video! Its even my user name on marijuana(.)com!

  • @BnHwrd haha yea iam dazed and confused myself. i was just trying to make a joke about the people who disliked the video and the name of the song. sorry if you took any offense.

  • i can jam this on kazoo.....

  • This is what a rock band sounds like , many copy , there will never be an equal .

Beyond Brilliant 4 = 1 unit of pure genius.

  • John Paul = most underrated musician ever
