  • can you make a tutorial of how to use it as a webcam plzzzzz

  • Good job. I was thinking of buying a webbie.I'm glad you pointed out the mic sensitivity.

  • Is this compatible with a .43-37 Opteka Fisheye lens?

  • You look JUST like my English teacher. Cauresma!

  • @3:24 Your CONVENIENCE VS. QUALITY comparison shots made the Webbie have BOTH convenience AND quality. Was that intentional?

  • when i film in "lower light" (still bright tho,) everything brownish looks greenish. is there any way to fix this?

  • My webbie HD looks different.

  • Do you know if it is possible to connect another mic??

  • Can you use hama stativ star on this webbie?

  • They have a new version of the sony webbie and the model is ultra thin plus the image qualityb is amazing. This must be the old version

  • the sony has beter picture quality fo sho

  • how do you put vids onto youtube using the sony webbie

    please help

  • Chinks in da house!

  • if any one wants one i have one for sale cheap!!! brand new pm me

  • moy moy pala boy

  • How do u use it as a webcam

  • What would anyone recommend for shooting 3-5 ft to a guitar neck. I'm even open to cams you strap to your friggin' head.

Needs to go up to 720 for possible DVD lessons.

I thought maybe someone would have made a higher quality webcam that uses the PC to do the hard work of video processing and allow it to be up to HD and cheap...does it exist?

  • To answer a question i've gotten frequently, I've decided to keep the Sony Webbie, as well as the Panasonic SDR-S7.

i've recently put together a music video for one of my songs using both cameras, as well as the iSight from my MacBook. It's posted as a video response above.

    Sony Webbie: Medium Shots

    Panasonic SDR-S7: High Angle Shots

    iSight: Low Angle Shots

And in retrospect, the Webbie DOES capture more vibrant colors. And now I wanna see how the new Sony bloggie performs as well.

  • that was very very very helpful!! thanks

  • lol personally i think that flipping the lense to face you and flipping the camera around are equally simple tasks, but on the other hand i can see where being able to flip the lense like that can have its advantages

  • I hate to tell you this but under normal light the Sony in your video beat the Panasonic hands down!

  • what about velcro or someother method a soft fabric on the sides? That should reduce any noise I would imagine...???

  • Very good user review.

  • Well, look at the size of the lens in regards to the dark shot. The Webbie is good if you are just doing video blogs and the other one more for artsy stuff.

  • why would u film in the dark?!?!

  • sex

  • if you are anywhere at night

  • Im thinking about getting the sony for boxing day... nice presentation!

  • is this a better bet than the kodak Zi8 and flip ultra HD. ? im just looking for a camera w/ good quality but not a cheap one and not an extremely expensive one. jus in the middle, to film sk8in and such. any suggestions??? if u wanna see what i mean u can check out my videos

  • yeah dude me too, me and my freinds are tryin to film a sk8 vid, so im lookin for a not to expensive one too, ill think ill get this one though

  • yeah, thts kool this one seem s nice, but i heard the quality is the best from a friend. so idk i thinking bout getting the kodak vi8 it doesnt have the swivel lense but its still really nice my friend just got it.

  • wow zi8* ahah

  • sony picture and audio better, but not night shot.

  • 1. Why all the pocket or Flip style cameras has the annoying "jell-o effect" in the image like the cellphones, when you walk with the camera or moving fast the camera?

    2. That is NOT thin.

I think the sony t90 is a lot better, has the best HD video in compact cameras as they say, 12 megapixel, 3" touchscreen, record videos without jell-o effect, oh yeah, and this camera is REALLY thin.

Is over $220 bux, is a little more expensive than the webbie, but for the price/features is better deal.

  • The picture looks way better on the Sony. That Panasonic has way too much brightness and the contrast is dull.

  • Whats with the colours, the panasonics colour looked a lil off

  • does it have dc input, and mic input.

  • @gizmizer DC yes, does not charge battery... mic input, no

  • does it have a tripod mount?

  • @ULAZYCOOK yes

  • So what did you decide to do?? Stay with the Panasonic and kick that webbie to the curb or what?

  • @scott231us i decided to keep the webbie, and not sell the panasonic. it makes for a nice backup cam

  • thank you for the review!

  • @Richy.. are we able to turn off the sound that comes out from the Sony HD right after it powered On? i just dont like the noise :)

  • @bayu00001 yes, it's in the settings i believe

  • so its not widescreen

  • @codyshow1 there are 3 settings, 4:3 (640x480) and two 16:9 one at 720 and one at 1080.

this demo was filmed with the lowest setting

  • @Richy923 ok THANKS!

  • does anyone know..... if when you download videos on you computer, can you edit the videos in things such as Windows Moviemaker?

  • @IDV84 If you're gonna make a joke, at least do it right.

    1) the word is "than" not "then"

    2) if you're talking about me, why would you say "his dick" and then address me directly as "oriental boy" right after.

I honestly would've laughed this off, but you're just a moron.

  • @IDV84 thats better, haha

  • 3) spell camera correctly

    Thanks for this review :)

  • I'll bet his penis length in cm, is a higher number than your I.Q.. Learn to use proper English. "Then" refers to a point in time. "Than" refers to a comparison or choice.

Go back to the third grade and pay attention this time, ignorant fuck!

  • I just got one.Any thing that i need to know? Thanks for posting bro.

  • well the picture looks better on the PM1

  • well it sure looks HD than the panasonic

  • Chin Hair Lolool

  • O cara arrumou uma confusão com várias cãmeras na mão pra demosntrar a webbie. ahauhauhauhauhauhaauh

    Sony Webbie sucks.

    Sony HX1 is the best!

  • can you put fisheye lens on these?

  • Sony webbie is not that good mine kept freezing on me so i took it back it cost to much for poor Quality..To me it wasn't worth the price

  • You are a cute, little oriental boy.

  • LOLOL!!!

  • Dude the sony looks way better.

The panasonic does seem to have the other things beat but the grey look makes it kinda poor quality to me.

Sucks the mic on the sony has to be so sensitive cuz I wanted that until I heard that lol

  • well the qaulity is way better but the sound sounds like ur in a tunnel lol

  • I have the same camera with the exact same problems. =/ Thanks for this though, I was thinking the microphone was way too sensitive.

  • the color seems faded on the panasonic

  • Now cost $129 at walmart. must buy memory.

    # Kodak Zi6.

  • put that old cam in the freezer over night......it works....seriously

  • i would take that back and get and sony webbie MHS-CM1 it shoots in HD and is small too

  • Same shit happened to my Samsung SC-X300. Tried to get it fixed at Samsung, but they were no help. Too bad. I liked that camera a lot.

  • Shouldve got the Flip Ultra HD, only $200 and much better imo, i might get mine soon also

  • that was a pretty good review...

  • pause the video at 1:58....he has the setting on the webbie at VGA that wouls explain why the quality isnt that good

  • Not really, since YouTube HQ (High Quality) is VGA i.e. 640x480.

  • I like the Sony Webbie HD

  • Um i watched this about a month ago to figure out if i should by the sony webbie mhs-pm1 and when u mentioned the mic problem i was scared to buy but i took a chance and that doesn't happen when i change the grip!

  • where can i test out camcorders and such

  • So as a general reply to all, I've had it for the past few months now and it's actually come in quite handy. I've dealt with the mic sensitivity and the CMOS quality and it's really not all that bad.

The webisodes I refer to is my online TV show that I produce (exclusive only to my friend network on facebook) and so far, the webbie has saved me.

I still own the Panasonic, which I plan to shoot some music videos of songs from my latest record.

thanks again for all of your input!

  • i had problems with the sound to but then i got a tripod

  • Thank you so much for your likes and dislikes about the Sony Webbie. I am a long time Flip Ultra Cam fan myself but was thinking aobut the what-ifs with the rich feature set in the Sony Webbie.

  • It looks like you've got good editing. From what I've heard the Webbie doesn't have a pause feature so, did you combine these clips on a computer? Also, what video editing software did you use, the one that comes with the Webbie? sorry I'm new to cameras. Good video

  • I don't know of a pocket webcam with a pause feature. But its unnessesary. The onboard software or the computer software (Movie Maker or iMovie) would do a better job at selecting which clips to use.

  • thanks, I edited the video with iMovie... 08 i think... lol

  • Comment removed

  • Even if the battery is good and you have a memory card that is not yet full it stops recording around the 25 minute mark and you need to start recording again.

  • i was thinking of getting onof the webbies but what could really solve the problem of the microphone is if they ever make a silicone case for it so that can absorb the movement and you wouldnt get that sound

  • should i get this or the flip mino?

  • I have had two Flip cameras both broke. The first one in less then a year the second one broke in a year.

Flip wont honor any warranties either if theirs runs out.

My last one had a battery blow up in it. A new battery. I wasnt holding the camera at the time but came back to find it that way.

  • i am thinking the same thing

  • Nice ! LOL, my channel name is SonyWebbie !

  • thanks for this review it helped me decide not to get it don't like that sensitive mic. Have you tried out that Audiovox RCA Small Wonder EZ300HD Digital Camcorder? it has the flip lens to record self you can see it on QVC cost is 119.00 trying to find good video testing on it. There was alot of hype on this one on HSN

  • u know if u actually change the format to MP4 the audio will get better... have u tried that?

  • Why is there NEVER somene like you at Bestbuy?

Corporate America seems to delight in hiring only the stupidest people, this includes their CEOs.

  • I totally agree, not just Best Buy but every store in general. Esp game stores. No one knows anything about what they're selling! I know more than they do, its frustrating.

  • I second that. When I was in Best Buy yesterday, the 2 employees I asked about this 2 only knew the colors that the camera was available in. They didn't even know the difference between standard definition and High Def! They are just there to punch the time clock, that's all.

  • We have become a nation that can make ridiculous amounts of money knowing nothing.

While the people who actually know these things, even design and make then make less then 2% profit.

You gotta love the power of the American Empire.

  • The people who design this stuff are on the most part morons. I say this from experience. I repair this this stuff for a living and I can tell you 1st hand that it is designed to be cheap and to be manufactured easily. There is no regard for the consumer at all. Sure an ICB is an ICB but all of the crap around that ICB is shit. There is some stuff that is better then others but just a higher quality of shit. Just my opinion.

  • @null

I agree, as America puts in more and more input to the final design of Japanese imports, its flawed more and more.

Often great hardware is riddled with bad software and limitation of greedy policies (Ex/ Apple Iphone).

  • I just got the sony webbie today and the mic does pick up the sound of you moving the grip and its not as bad as yours! I love the Webbie it rocks!

  • digital camera does the same thing 30 fps,no night shot etc.

  • wOw! that mic thing is a bummer!!! I am soo glad i saw your video dude! thanks

  • what he said, i completely agree

    :)

  • lol. nice ending. i was gunna buy the webbie to start putting up videos but the audio sensitivity really bites...

i dont think i wanna get it anymore!!! ... idk what to do either haha.

    anyway thanks 4 the vid.

  • get the sanyo xacti cg10...same price better quality, good microphone does not pick up the stupid grip sound. small, and convinent.

  • The webbie's quality is better than the other one... >_>

  • way better

  • HAHA,,

    U SAID DRUNK!!

    IT TRUE DOE,,

  • get the cm1 I love the cm1

  • get the other version it is alot better!

  • The Mic sensitivity is an issue! But more then it's sensitivity is it's location! you flip the lens to record yourself.. but the Mic is still on the other side of the camera(front)?! they should have put the mic on the lens area so the audio points with the lens.

  • The webbie picks alot of echoes. but it seems cool.

  • Is the webbis fully Mac compatible? I was in th store today and fell in LOVEEE with the webbie but I want to make sure it is mac FULLLLY comp?

Ps. what are you thoughts about the Flip monoHD?

    thanks!

  • the webbie's files import in iMovie 08 and HD6 nicely.

  • Keithgreenberg, best thing about a mac, is you can use any known movie file. If it comes in one format and you need to switch it to another to use, then you can do it in QuickTime Pro or a freeware program downloaded from the internet. I have bought many gadgets before that were supposedly "Windows Only" but had no trouble converting. Now it is definitely an added plus when the files come automatically in .MOV format.

  • flip hd is the best imo

  • cool Camera

  • webbie fersure its a much better camera

  • would this also be good as a camera?

  • I think the colors on the webbie was much better

  • The webbie has good lighting

  • So I've decided to keep the Sony.

The Webbie is as slim as a mobile phone, and the issue with the sound should be easy to solve just by lowering the volume in my edits. The panasonic is a keeper since I purchased last month, so its not like I can return it... so it's still an option if I wanna record with it.

Overall, the webbie is great for it's function, portability and pricepoint.

  • I can settle it for you simply between the two cams: Do you NEED HD? Afterall, youtube has moved to HD, and HD future proofs your videos. If you don't need HD, go for the Panasonic. Otherwise use the Sony.

  • wow, i was just going to buy the webbie today until i seen your vid- now i am skeptical with the quality upon moving it. thanks for doing this vid, you just saved me $170.

  • Yea, I agree, the video is brighter and more crisp than my panasonic, but i didnt like the way it handled any other movements, like panning, zooming etc... also to rboensch, i did have the low light setting on... that's the best it did.

if Sony were to release some kind of silicone skin for the webbie, maybe that would decrease the amount of 'hand noise' picked up by the mic... and also persuade me to keep what could be the best pocket HD cam in the market right now.

  • I hope Sony can release a waterproof or water resistant silicon case. The panasonic has better motion because it has image stabilization.

  • i was thinking of getting this but got a canon vixia 100 instead. the sony sucks you can hear the damn zoom...

  • Dude, I got a PM1, and you can see yourself... The color and pic quality is WAY better! Also, you have to set the camera for LOW LIGHT!!!!!!! (it does have that setting) Then it does much better. The mic is anoying, but for its size and pic quality, you can't have everything
