Ah, summer in California....the heat in the eucalyptus trees....the almost painfully sweet and herbal smell of dry California grasses....not exactly Pollyanna's REAL home, but it'll do. The movie was so much better than the treaclly book!

I watched this movie a million years ago in girl scouts and this girl leaned over and whispered "this is my favorite part!" when the kid swung into the scene naked. Good times.

Aw the innocence of a naked boy swimming in a river. Pity this has be frowned upon so much these days.

If this film was re-made in the 21st. century I bet it would be removed - to protect children!

Kids that age aren't bothered about being naked and statistics prove it!

it's true, a naked boy swimming in a lake was considered very innocent back then. it showed childhood innocence. Ironically even though this was made in 1960, i think ppl are more prudish now

This is the first movie I saw at the theater by myself. Admissin was 75cents. Popcorn was 25cents with a coke. My all time favorite Disney movie. Thanks for the memories Haley Mills

I never had a chance to see the movie or read the book .When I was younger my aunt who was in catholic broad school at the time always told me about the story right before bed time when she came for the summer .I still can believe 27 years later I got to see the movie.I remembered those days in Haiti with no TV some how we alway found a way to enjoyed ourselves.

i've tried doing the same hula hoop thing that the boy(is that jimmy or another boy) does in the beginning and it's really fun to do^^, but i couldn't 't jump through it :(

I would watch this with my grandma when I was little. I remember the part with the boy and the hula hoop very clearly. The naked boy at the start diving in the water shows how long it was made because Disney would never be allowed to put 'nude' scenes in movies. Everyones too afraid of rules and stuff and everything has lost innocence now.

I miss my childhood. Classic Disney especially.

@Dest8 It's the times we live in that are sick, not the movie. This was a Innocent interpretation of how life was at the time, that kind of innocents sadly dose not exist anymore. Now a days we worry about all the people in the world who look at this in perverted ( to put it lightly) way.
