I’m stuck between two laptops, the Samsung QX411-W01 or the Acer AS5830TG-6402, both can be found at Best Buy, which is better?

I plan to do some mainstream gamming (Minecraft, Portal, HL2), High School level work (Plus entry level programming) and YouTube/web browsing.

u can put 2gb ram in the nc10 I have done it for 2 of them for family and plan to do the same for a 3rd, is about 35 for a 2gb memory module!

I've got mine since 1 year now, a blue one and i must say this SAMSUNG NC10 is SUPER!!! Realy i don't regret at all to have perchased it because despite it's low sound capacity, it got everything built-in and super slim/small that you can carry anywhere as a profesional or evryone who love speed working computers!

So does saying ebooks are not excellent as normal PC are just wrong!

i have an Acer aspire one , another model , but with the same glossy screen and i'm telling you that outside it sucks big time. I can't see a damn. If i want to conserve battery , i have to lower the screen brightness but after that , i won't see a damn not even from 20 cm. I really don't understand why acer chosed the glossy screens, but i understand that their decision sucks big time.

In terms of performance ,i guess that all the netbooks act the same as the hardware specs are kinda equal.

the reason it sticks out is because its a 6 cell. which is great cause you can leave it on without ac for the whole day. the 3 cell is good for the small comp but the 6 cell is more then enough.

I actually find I like the battery sticking out of the Acer like that. Fits my hand nice when I'm carrying it. But yeah, the glare wasn't nearly as bad as I'd expected. Definitely ends up coming down to personal taste, as many have said. Got mine via Woot on sale for just over $250, refurbished. Don't skimp on the battery: 6-cell is the shit. I get like 6-8 hours of life out of it depending on what I'm doing. Awesome little machine. :)

So let's get this right: one of the important points (almost a third of your comparison timewise) is that you couldn't reuse the netbook sleeve for the Acer instead of buying the next size up? Your ONLY alternative was to abandon a sleeve and go to the handled bag.

And as to glare, you need to try it "in the wild" (using typical APPs too, not just the desktop) as it is very much a matter of personal taste. I support a pool of heterogeneous users with diametrically opposed opinions.

hey you can get 3cell for acer for like 70 dollars less! I see it, it gets cheaper and there's less boot. The only thing bad that can happen is less battery.

Hi I am really thinking of buying th NC10. But I am wondering if it is possible to hook up a usb dock with dvi output to the NC10 and use it with a large monitor or tv. Please reply with thoughts/advice. Cheers

If its any use the dock I am considering is the SONY VGP-UPR1.

Upon doing some quick research hwbd, it would be best to just go with the VGA port that comes with the Sammy.

The Sony dock (thanks for that) only works with Sony Laptops and Vista. The NC10 only comes with XP and keep in mind you can't use the VGA out and DVI at the same time.

Not to mention driver replacement and all that data being pumped through one little USB port. Bottlenecks are bound to occur.
