  • I heard that zoning and codes often prohibit prefab homes, even nice ones like this, because of the connotations with "trailers". Nobody wants trailers in their nice neighborhood. Prefabs have come a long way though, and look better all the time.

  • I agree this guys house design and finishes are lacking but those were his choice I'm guessing. Not sure what architect would claim that design, hope it was for the inside

Same building codes as a Stick built and even stronger in order to be able to transport and crane. not to mention most things are cut and built using jigs to ensure everything is true and square. And onsite quality inspectors like and factory. look at a stick, most now use foam board for the walls not plywood or OSB.

  • Having used to build "stick" houses, modular is the way we'll be going. Every crew I worked, and these were quality builders, the mentality was once the drywall is up the homw owner won't know. Not to mention weather. nothing like having your frame soaked for a week and a half of showers and then coming in the first dry day and closing it in. mold rot etc??

  • In the process of deciding whether to go with a conventional stick built or modular home. I'll admit I was skeptical as hell to begin with. I'm building a 3600sq ft home and have received price quotes from 2 local builders and 3 modular home builders. The price difference is about 125k, give or take a few thousand. I've walked through 2 modular homes on site in various stages of the build out. Quality is great ! The two homes I've build with Toll & Orleans basically are a POS.

  • MANY MODULAR HOMES ARE 20 DOLLARS PER SQUARE FOOT. AND IM SURE THIS GUY DID SAVE THAT MUCH MONEY. MANY MODULAR 3 BEDROOM 2 BATHS COST 40-50,000 DOLLARS AND AND AFTER INSTALLATION ABOUT 85000 IN TOTAL. CHECK GOOGLE AND TYPE IN PREFAB HOMES. IM SURE HE DID SAVE THIS MUCH AND HIS HOME IS BEAUTIFUL AND LOOKS BRAND NEW

  • Yeah, and uh you got $100k LESS in quality there guy if true.

"We saved about $100 to $200 thousand dollars". That is total bullshit lol. Which is it? $100k or $200k. Come on man.

  • I'm not going to be THAT mean @BillySloan, but it looks like a cheap house. I'm superficial though since it doesn't have landscaping done yet, but it doesn't look like it should cost a lot. I wonder where he is to make him save $100k?

  • I don't know what the inside of this trailer looks like, but there is absolutely NO wow factor to the exterior.. It doesn't look nice, at all... Now, the inside MAY look amazing.. but by judging on the outside alone, it looks plain-jane.. and very small.

  • @BillySlone What trailer are you talking about?? I see a house in the video, a normal sized regular house. The one im seeing looks great, are you being silly thinking its humorous?

  • @kevintomb

No? lol... It clearly states in the title of the video that it is, in fact, a modular home... Which of coarse means, it's not a site-built HOUSE, but a manufactured mobile home, aka - a trailer. lol

  • @BillySlone I think you might be confusing modular and prefab homes.

  • @BillySlone I see you don't read much Billy Boy, a modular home is NOT a manufactured, aka trailer home!!

  • @lizzzie210

This is NOT a site built home. Otherwise, it'd be called a "HOUSE" instead of a "Modular" home..

Do a little research, and be at least moderately educated on the subject before trying to argue with someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

"Modular homes are sectional prefabricated buildings or houses that consist of multiple modules or sections which are manufactured in a remote facility and then delivered to their intended site of use."

  • They sold you a pipe dream. No way you saved that much. I was in this industry over 10 years and was trained to BS people into this dream. NO WAY, CAN'T BE DONE CHEAPER THAN STICK BUILT!!!!

  • @sam133ms

First off, modular construction IS STICK BUILT. Its the exact same thing, but just stronger in some ways since it has to endure being moved and lifted in modules. If you knew about houses you should have known that. If you were in this industry 10 years, you wouldnt make comments that are false would you?

  • What a load of crap! No way he saved $100,000 to $200,000 on that little dog box. What a liar! Must work for the company. If it was a mansion I'd beleive it.

  • He may've saved that much compared to a site built house. It's very possible. Modular houses run about $50.00 a square foot.

  • Oh, and most of the cabinetry and floors are all standard which means they don't cost anything unless you want high end like granite or marble. Most site built houses, a plank of wood for the floor will cost extra, not so with modular which is why there's such a huge savings.

  • how much per square foot?

  • Nick appears to love his new home. There are alot of potential pitfalls in building a new home and it looks like ZN was able to avoid many of them....

  • wow!

  • Sexy.
