I am currently a senior in high school and while this has nothing to do with the band it needs to be said, I am not applying and hopefully attending Southern because i couldn't get into LSU i have the GPA and ACT scores however Southern offers smaller classes, and is fairly cheaper, and my mother is an alumni! Coming from the CMB at UVA, I think this is THE best arrangement of neck I have ever head. We play the same arrangement, but I little faster, but personally I think it sounds better slow. The tuba comes out more when it is slower, and honestly that is the most important part of neck

Actually slowing down the tempo and letting those deep bass notes do their job really make this sound much more ominous. Excellent arrangement for Death Valley. Too many bands try to play too fast and let all the instruments step on top of each other.

i personally like this better than a majority of the HBCU arrangements (southern university). When LSU plays it you can actually hear all of the parts unlike when Southern plays. They just all play as loud as possible and bleat the hell out of their instruments.

this version sounds like some old people in a band trying to do a cover of a popular sound to get people hype, tempo needs to be faster and its no pep, but yall always play soft and slow like this.
@JUST2SUAVE I think the tempo is fine, especially considering that the snares are triple-timing through most of it. There are also several different instances, it gets dark outside at 0:40 then light again at 1:12. LSU did pretty good with this. The LA Tech version, ehhhhh...

And since you want to keep bringing the tempo into the mix, it's almost spot on with the original. I wish the arrangement were more creative but it is what is. The thing to remember here, is LSU is taking steps towards being a more diverse band program. Something for everyone. I'm not sure the same can be said about Southern.
I like it but I have to say I like NSU's version better but this is hot some HBCU's dont sound this good. They should speed up the tempo just a little.

I am currently a senior in high school and while this has nothing to do with the band it needs to be said, I am not applying and hopefully attending Southern because i couldn't get into LSU i have the GPA and ACT scores however Southern offers smaller classes, and is fairly cheaper, and my mother is an alumni! I am not dumb or illiterate and if I wanted to go to LSU i would! p.s the human jukebox is awesome and yes i do believe LSU copied it from SU.

Damn u guys have ALOT of guys playing clarinet. Im not trying to dis them cause im in a marching band too, but even at my school we only have about 4 guys out of like 25 clarinets. u guys still sound great though!

i personally like this better than a majority of the HBCU arrangements (southern university). When LSU plays it you can actually hear all of the parts unlike when Southern plays. They just all play as loud as possible and bleat the hell out of their instruments.

this version sounds like some old people in a band trying to do a cover of a popular sound to get people hype, tempo needs to be faster and its no pep, but yall always play soft and slow like this.

@JUST2SUAVE I think the tempo is fine, especially considering that the snares are triple-timing through most of it. There are also several different instances, it gets dark outside at 0:40 then light again at 1:12. LSU did pretty good with this. The LA Tech version, ehhhhh...

@JUST2SUAVE Well that's your opinion and that's good and all but it has nothing to do with what I was saying. And since you want to keep bringing the tempo into the mix, it's almost spot on with the original. I wish the arrangement were more creative but it is what is. The thing to remember here, is LSU is taking steps towards being a more diverse band program. Something for everyone. I'm not sure the same can be said about Southern.
